i have this dream over and over...over the years. i walk up this stream ..it's so peaceful and calm like i've never felt before. i walk up to this surf break...behind it are trees. to the right of it are trees, to the left of it are trees and there's a small strand of beach in front. the waves are pure perfect A frame wave after wave...about 6-8 feet...and the water...the water is crystal clear. everytime i wake up from this dream...i believe this is my heaven. i believe andy is there surfing it

I arrived in Hawaii in January of 2006 and I didnt have a clue about surfing. But I started following it and started surfing myself. Andy and Bruce were my favorite surfers. I know kelly slater is the best surfer ever but I loved the Irons style, the quick HOLY CRAP !did you see that! style.RIP in heaven where there is always epic waves.

I never met Andy I wish like hell I had from what I’ve watched his surfing was flawless and from what I’ve read his friendship was endless REST PEACEFULLY ANDY AND I NO YOUR WIFE, SON, FAMILY, AND FRIENDS MISS YOU BEYOND WHAT I CAN PUT INTO WORDS because it’s even hard for me to let you no how much I miss you and like I saw I never even met you but watched you surf every chance I got thru TV internet and to this day I watch you surf and will to the day I’m gone, then I might be lucky enough to met you on the other side that’s what I pray for Andy much Love and Respect to you and God please bless all of Andy’s loved ones because I no there still going thru it.

Watching Irons free style is enjoyable to the viewer, and you can see it was obviously a joy to him as well.
The best backside surfing I ever saw, all set up with that bottom turn that saw him travelling back up the face square, completely facing the wave which then meant he developed some real body torque to whip power the off the lip. An icon of surfing. There’s a ton of great surfers, but it’s the rare few that are remembered across sporting categories. If you were to show a freshly landed alien what surfing was it’d have to be Andy. Vale Andy Irons.

this guy inspired everybody who surfs to go out at push the limit everytime they paddled out. you watch him and try to replicate what he did as best you could. he is a hero a legend and an icon to every one in the surf world R I P and thank you for inspiring me to be the best i can be at any thing i do in life! you are missed
watching this video and seeing how much he inspired people has me in awe and tears. Just being able to shake that man's hand would've been a life goal let alone be able to share a session with him, and it breaks my heart that I'll never be able meet such a great person. It's been far too long since I've touched my board, but thanks to his inspiration I can proudly say I'm gonna pick it back and never put it down again. R.I.P. I remember where I was and what I was doing when I heard the news. Moody New England fall weather. Fairfield Ave. Hartford, CT. Waiting for a load. Thinking of the next swell in Rhode Island and figuring out which day I’m gonna call out sick. Read it on Live Leak on my Blackberry thought out loud,” oh, this is not good.” Strange what we remember. What a badass. Incredible talent lost forever.

Man I never knew about this man until today. But I can tell just from these short few minutes he was a very special, annd talented man. I've been wanting to get into surfing for sometime now but I don't live anywhere near the coast. When I finally do get out there I will try to be like this man...in surfing, and in life. R.I.P.

Wow.. what an amazing tribute. I feel so sorry for Lyndie and Andy Jr, for their loss. For Bruce and all of the people in the surf community. I, just as a fan, feel robbed and devastated still, so I can only imagine the pain these people must feel. Andy was of another making than most surfers. He is a legend and he will never be forgotten. That is what we, as fans, has to make sure. We need to tell the tales of AI surfing and living. R.I.P Andy. Thank you for living and surfing!

I remember watching him at the Rip Curl Pro 2010 here in Portugal. I was sitting on the beach, with a friend of mine, and he passed right next to us. A few days later we learned that he died. And then i realized: "Shit! I saw Andy Irons surfing for a last time!" One day he was doing what loved most, and later he was gone forever. Life is an episodic thing...

Look man, I'm speaking to you as one human being to another, I get that some weirdos like you get stoked off of making people mad on the internet, but there are some things you do not mess with. Andy Irons is not only one of the greatest surfers, but one of the most inspirational, kind-hearted people to ever walk this earth.
Makes me want to be a better surfer and all around a better person.
