- Hey gamers, for this video I decided to take on this Terraria challenge, where water and air are swapped, so that means that I breathe water instead of air and I suffocate while not submerged in liquids. This also means I move as slowly as you do underwater when I am not in water, and I swim in the air. Also I can't do any fishing. Can I beat the Moon Lord?

I think the reason you couldn't fish is that while you are in water and have cast a fishing bobber, you are unable to catch a fish. So while the bobber was only looking for the water tile, your player was "underwater" so the game assumes you are in the same body of water as the bobber and prevents fishing. I think if you were also in a (separate) body of water you might have been able to fish. Maybe, this is all just based off my own cursory knowledge of Terraria's systems.
Sounds about right, still the mounts would’ve made it too easy so I was fine to take that challenge. If I really wanted to I could’ve figured it out I’m sure
ive definitely caught fish while underwater in the same body of water

@@jadedesormeaux6820 yeah, same here. Terraria doesn't seem to stop you from fishing underwater. I think the issue lies more with the mod not distinguishing the border between a liquid and the air, since both fishing and waterwalking need the surface of a liquid to work, but both failed.

This is my favorite kind of run to watch. The kind with arbitrary rules that force the player into silly situations. Like permanent fishbowl head.

You could have tried the trident, it makes movement in water as fast as in air, would have made just moving around in the world significantly faster.
It also increases vertical movement so u can quickly switch to it to drop fast during bossfights.
Oh crap!! You’re so right! I knew about the trident doing that but completely forgot about it in this run. I genuinely thought that I thought of everything, but that slipped my mind. I’m upset now lol, oh well

Hot take: Crawltipede is not the problem with the Solar Pillar. It's the Selenians, people just don't quite realize it.
They rocket at you at the speed of light if you don't hit them, and you can't hit them with projectiles while they're spinning. If you could fire projectiles at them safely, dealing with the other Solar enemies, especially Crawltipede, would be way easier. Of all the times I've died to the Solar Pillar, even when playing Melee or Summoner, most of my deaths have come from Selenians, either directly or because I got killed by another enemy while trying to deal with them
agreed, but I think the challenge of not being able to fly because of the crawltipedes makes them much harder too. If I could fly to dodge them it'd be okay

I'd love to give this mod a try, but my preference would be for water and air to operate as normal, just with the breathability conditions swapped. That way, you can get around normally in air, and deal with things semi-regularly. Just, uh... gotta stay hydrated a little more than usual.

Anklet of the wind, along with most other movement speed boosting items (with the only exceptions being magiluminescence and shadow armor) doesn't actually stack with boots. Meaning it's basically just dead air in your accessory slots if you use it alongside boots.
I'm like 90% sure it stacks and the speed meter thing is just broken. Movement speed reforges for your accesories just don't affect it at all, so I assume there's tons of other things like that
that makes no sense considering you make lightning boots with an anklet of the wind

Fishing is broken bc you can't fish while fully submerged in water and the mod that you use probably just really did switch air to water with all the mechanics.
Also maybe if it works like that you could just block off the entrance to tunnels and then breath.

As someone who also regularly struggles to get hellwing bow, I'm pretty sure it's just straight up rarer than all other shadow chest items.

You can't fish from within water... But I wonder it a bubble block square filled with water would've allowed you to fish, since the game would then think you were in air and casting into water.

plot twist: he didnt change how air and water worked, he just made water show up where air is and air where water normally goes and swapped how they flowed and swapped their sprites

It'd be neat if someone made a mod that just put a Fish Bowl on your head when you were out of water, and gave you gills while you were underwater, so that it'd achieve the same effect without breaking... uh... a lot of things.

I know I’m late, but a unique and effective way to move downward quickly is to equip the anvil as a mount. That could have made the Plantera fight much easier

In an attempt at ocean mob genocide I once drained both oceans in a pre-master mode seed that had the old buggy ocean that would occasionally just spawn way way higher than the actual land. Unfortunately... I drained them into the surrounding biomes and flooded like 2/3rds of a large map. I think I'd have great fun with this mod on that map.

there is a mod called mrplague's authentic races. one of them is a merman, which basically gives you water breathing but with buffs and doesn't change the air/water. still was a nice watch though

This is the true merfolk Terraria experience.
you can make the solar pillar trivial as long as you build a platform. Just ice rod a block in the air, 90% of the enemies can't do anything anymore

you can maybe unlock fishing by making a water pocket encased in bubble blocks and sitting inside that when casting the line
Just in case you weren't, you can increase downwards movement speed as merfolk by holding down but I think its still a little slower than falling in air.
Honestly, I've always found the nebula pillar way harder than the rest, the same way you find the solar pillar

another factor before i had wifi my terraria game was far behind on updates and one problem with that was the wall of flesh bc the best pre-hardmode weapon I could use was the star cannon so i made that and used over 2000 stars ( 2000 god dang stars to kill the wall of flesh in the past. )

If sinking in air is slow but rising is still fast, maybe an upwards OSOGOF tunnel would have worked for plantera (assuming you kill her before reaching the surface and enraging her)
Possibly switch to the Daedalus stormbow in the tunnel if farming hallowed mimics is possible (movement speed might make it rough)
We get annoyed if water is on the house but when this mod came we need it
