- In this challenge I did something a little ridiculous. I played Master Mode Terraria as the ranged class (ranger), but I didn't use anything that is classified as a "gun", "bow" or "repeater" on the wiki. I also didn't use it if it had "gun", "bow" or "repeater" in it's name, and if it used either arrows or bullets as ammunition. Is it possible? Can we defeat the Moon Lord with this challenge?

THE HARPOON IS NOT CALLED THE "HARPOON GUN". I did state this in the video, but in no way is the "Harpoon" considered a gun. I just misspoke and said harpoon gun and thought that was funny. Also I'm getting a lot of questions about the blowpipe/blowgun/dart pistol/dart rifle. These weapons are somehow considered "guns" on the official and Fandom wiki, so I didn't allow them. Probably would've made the challenge too easy too.
Also people are asking about how a lucky horseshoe was found in an underground chest; for a time, lucky horseshoes were switched out with fledgling wings in sky chests, and lucky horseshoes were put in underground golden chests. They quickly changed it back, though.
Is the harpoon gun not considered a gun? Wasn’t that the reason you didn’t use the paintball gun lol

I love how he keeps referring to the harpoon as "the harpoon _gun",_ despite that not actually being the item name and, if it was, it would disqualify it from this challenge.
I know I don’t know why I kept calling it that lol, nothing on the wiki states it’s a gun so I was just shooting myself in the foot

@@MrSkeleton14they're good support, but I find they come by too late in pre hard mode and lava fishing is tedious, so I rather craft some day bloom, mushrooms and iron ore and plant some regeneration potions and mine some ironskin potions.

@@CJDEATHBOT darts pipes with poisonous dart would be a really good weapon too the pre hard mode and you could have changed for another tiper of darts during you playthrough

Game considers anything that is not ammo, but CONSUMES ammo as a gun, as in a shurikan is technically ammo, but because you don't use another weapon to fire shurikan, it isn't a gun. But, blow darts are considered guns
How the Frost/Pumpkin Moon loot drops work is that the bosses have a lowered chance to drop their loot earlier on in the waves. By wave 20 they have a 100% chance to drop stuff, but on the waves the first spawn, they have a decent chance to drop nothing.

The Ale Tosser ( Dropped by the Tavernkeep ) could have helped a lot with this.
I know! Unfortunately I didn’t find the Tavernkeep ONCE in the whole playthrough. It would have made my life way easier😭

@@CJDEATHBOT I do have some other challenge suggestions as well, one’s I’ve been doing. Accessories only, you can only use accessories to do damage. ( Pretty much have to play on expert ) Npc loot only. Not just weapons, but armors and accessories too. Abigail’s flower only, no whips or anything, only Abigail.

19:08 Im starting to believe they removed the ability to mine titanium anymore based on how many times I only get adamantite in my worlds.
Ironically when I went either a ranged or magic playthrough, I was praying to get Adamantite since I thought the set bonus of Titanium was useless, and I wanted the bonus stats of Adamantite. Not in either playthrough did I get Adamantite.
@@tgeiii3554 I got titanium in a ranged world so I took all of it and put it into the shimmer to get adamantite instead lol. Never in the history of terraria would I foresee myself doing so, but here we are I guess

I wish there were more launchers before plantera. That way you can do a launcher class without only using star cannon until plantera. And even when you get past plantera your options aren’t amazing. The best is snowman cannon until you get the celebration. The stinger is good and the rocket launcher is ok.
Yeah it means not many people use launchers because they’ve gone the whole playthrough without them so switching to launchers after plantera is a little out of place. I wish there were more for sure
As someone who has only ever uses the Grenade Launcher, Rocket launcher, Proximity Mine Launcher, Snowman Cannon and Elf Melter once I beat Plantera, I absolutely agree
@@vikavolt11 maybe a good prehardmode addition would be like, a series of demoltionist launchers? as in, a launcher that can use any grenades, an upgraded version that can use grenades or bombs, and an upgraded version that can use grenades, bombs, or dynamite? that seems like a somewhat fitting addition, IMO.

Man I once got all the way to lunar pillars before I had a single blood moon pop up. I was so lost as to how that never occured
i won't lie, harpoon does actually have decent dps early game if you can hit shots and get close to enemies, the problem is melee is the exact same concept but with even more damage and defense
Loved the video idea and the calamity music in the background was great too!
Just a reminder kids, you can get both evil types in hardmode by buying the opposite evil seeds from the Dryad in a graveyard biome. You can then just plant the seeds on grass next to stone to get evil blocks. Use that to make fishing ponds for both evil biomes so you can get all the Ichor and Cursed Flame you need!

Keep up the good content man, and a little tips for goblin army :
Farm for the goblin battle standard if you wanna spawn goblin invasion, and farm for the BoC or EoW spawn. Goblin army only spawn if the orbs are broken. Unless you need the orb drops then you just gonna face it ig...
Yeah I know all these, thanks for the tips, I usually just can't be bothered grinding for 10 cloth for a battle standard. But if it gets to a point where the goblin army just isnt coming then I do that
I know this was made a long time ago and this was a really good run and I know how frustrating everything must be but it’s all fun in the end, but I think you’re a really good creator keep at it you’re doing great. Anyway blowpipe is good with hard mode darts (apparently, oh and the darts ignore iFrames) and isn’t a gun or bow, just a tip I wanted to say, have a nice day

Stake launcher not actually being a launcher was a big oof. I was looking forward to that weapon since it's pretty good but not used that often.

I used the harpoon gunnon my first playthrough in 1.3. it was busted. If you hit with a good modifier, it does a really good single target damage, which helped me destroy normal mode eoc
I found it was underperforming for me but I didn't give it a good shot, I'll keep that in mind for the future!

Whenever I play terraria As a ranger, I usually use snowman cannon as my primary weapon and tsunami as my secondary.

You should do a "no musket balls, no arrows, no rockets" challange... it give more choices along the game progression, while making the endgame a bit harder.
When I was a kid prehardmode on the Xbox 360, the harpoon was my fave weapon. I have such fond memories of it and it’s SO mid

I geues you already been told this, but the plantera not spawning isnt because of the bomb, its because the bulb only spawns plantera if the player is within a certain radius from it, to prevent Queen bee spawner breaking from the other side of the world situations.

i shit you not i had a blood moon, skipped to next day with sundial, got a solar eclipse skipped to night with moondial got another blood moon and the morning after a goblin invasion spawned. fun times

Recently, when I was playing master mode ranger class, the first goblin army appeared(1/3 chance), then when I defeated them the second night the second goblin army occured(1/30 chance)and I beat them, third night the third goblin army invaded(another 1/30 chance), I was shocked of this chances

if there were a few more launchers in the game that were pre-plantera, the thrower class would actually be viable again

I just did an anti melee run and that was difficult enough for me. I used mainly ranger with some summoner aspects. And this was all on normal mode.
