The dancing was marvelous. Oxana Skorik was incredible.
I enjoyed watching Chopiniana very much. It's a beautiful performance by all the Mariinsky dancers. Thank you @ Xander Parish for sharing.
Beautifully danced...the staly...the movements of the arms and dancers lines..incredible..and of course the fantastic music and coreografy...everthing perfect...you can forget for 30 minutes of the world around you and enjoy it...

I've heard the same thing, that it doesn't translate that well orchestrally, Chopin's music! Well, someone did a darn good job of it here, though! But ballet and his music via piano, is a match made in heaven!

Слушая этот балет, вспоминаешь анекдот: Суслов и Брежнев прогуливаются по Москве. Проходят рядом с каким-то памятником. Брежнев спрашивает:
-А что это за памятник?
Суслов:
-Это памятник Чехову.
Брежнев:
-А, это тот, который "МУ-МУ" написал.
Суслов:
-"МУ-МУ" написал Тургенев.
Брежнев:
-Не понял, "МУ-МУ" написал Тургенев, а памятник Чехову.
Такие вальсы, мазурку и полонез написал Шопен, а Штраусс почему-то король вальсов. Штраусс написал за всю свою жизнь всего два произведения: вальс "голубой Дунай" и все остальные произведения. В балете "Шопениана" звучат 3 вальса, и каждый из этих трех вальсов лучше всех остальных произведений Штрауса. Обидно, Вань, как пел Высоцкий.

That pit is the right size for a small musical, but a full orchestra?? This makes me wonder yet again how much musicians are guided by the conductor's baton. The players to his extreme right and left are practically in the suburbs.
The ballet was lovely, but it appeared that the camera operator was inadequately schooled in filming performances such as this.

Вертикальный шпагат в "Шопениане" ?...Где стиль?... Сравните с замечательной записью 1958 года, где танцуют артисты того же Мариинского театра во главе с Ириной Колпаковой, где, кстати, этот балет и родился.И где до недавнего времени исполнение этого на самом деле сложнейшего по стилю и технике балета Фокина,все таки, считалось эталонным.
Эстетика балетная со временем меняется. Сейчас много чего танцуют иначе и воспринимается иначе.

meh .. reasonable at best ......the Marinsky 1991 version on here was better ....the cameraman on this was simply too bad to be true ......

Bad camera work distracted from a beautiful performance.
I hate the low-budget nightgown tutus. The camera work was amateurish -- either too close up or behind the action itself. The magic and mystique were definitely missing.

We do the best we can in all of our performances and our coaches do their best to rehearse us. Your bitter comments are not not appreciated. How about focusing on the positive things? Life would be a lot nicer!
@@XanderParish I do like what you dancers are doing but problem is with yours couches. They are so faraway from original Fokin Idea. This not Fokin it is AFTER Fokin. If you wonted to see what is Fokin go to see couching by Dame Alicia Markova to POB dancers etoil Elisabeth Platel and young dancer Herve Moreao as she was couched by Fokin in New York during WW2. and her couching has documentary film as ilustration how she danced.. So complete information. Her couching is only one authentic testimony what this ballet is.

Too brisk and vigorous a poet instead of a melancholic and dreamy one . The whole lacks grace, soul and is out of style.
What an awful sound recording! I cannot believe that Abu Dabhi had not money to hire a professional sound engineer! But I don´t wonder. It´s like neo-rich people without culture wanting to show how rich they are, I blame all big theaters around the world making part of this comedy only for money. There are not ETHICS any more in the show business.
oh my God, the camera is also awful! is it so difficult to take two cameras, one of the full stage and one for close ups?
