I’m afraid she’s going to get hurt, now that’s she’s trying to do more races…and races even at the Ironman distance, that is extremely competitive. I don’t think she’ll defend her championship, and I really hope she is able to stay healthy in trying to defend it and in racing all the T100 races
I think it depends on Anne Haug, Ryf and other uber bikers. Taylor Knibb? This route favors climbers. If any of these ladies will participate we will definitely see a brutal competition.
James you are so right. Bike prices have become ridiculous. One of the most intimidating thing about entering into the otherwise amazing triathlon community was seeing crazy expensive bikes all around me in the age group bike section, and wondering if my $800 bike was good enough or even belonged there. I wish more bike companies would focus on making great entry level triathlon bikes, and stop pushing crazy expensive bikes that frankly only the pros need. Just my two cents. Thanks for all you guys do on the channel!
TT bikes cover a marginal market, so prices will be higher than normal bikes.
That said, 9k for a frame set is insane. 3-4k would be more reasonable for a top tier frame.

@@panzerveps totally agreed on both parts. Just so intimidating I’m racking my regular road bike next to one of those crazy expensive bikes at a local race, of all places 🫠
@@jonathanbrandenburg6508 I bought a used tt bike for a fraction of the price. You don't have to buy new every time.

Video idea: do a triathlon with your normal gear (Canyon Speedmax, shoes of preference), so certainly not bare bones by any means, then do a triathlon with the most expensive gear on the market. In addition to time comparisons, you could also tell us if you think the top dollar stuff lives up to the pricetag. Tri spy is Jan Frodeno winning Kona.
The top age groupers are basically pro athletes these days as they train anything up to 20 hours a week

Seems one of the good things about having several challenging formats is that athletes are having to be realistic and come to terms with what they can focus on and do well as opposed to attempting to over achieve. Quality over quantity.

Makes you wonder WHY a defending champ NEEDS to qualify for the next year? Triathlon seems a lot different than the 1985 Tanner's Hatch Tri where I saw one of the Big Coconut Tri Boys rummaging in a hedgerow for blackberries as he'd bonked on the run! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

It changes every year. Last year Nice was for men and Kona for women. This year it's reversed.

Has anyone ever actually bought one of these insanely overpriced bikes as something other than a show piece?
I have seen plenty of interviews with actual world tour cyclists who say they might have one bike they actually own themselves, and it's NOT one of these super-aero-light-tubular-carbon (etc) set ups, nor is it even close to what they actually race.
I'm absolutely baffled by this. With all the talk of all these bicycle companies, start ups, events and everything else going down the drain since the bubble broke, the prices just keep going up?
There must be a lot of really rich cyclists in the world, because with just the base pricing of some of these brands like Willier, I'm amazed they can sell A bike versus enough to keep the company afloat.
cant see willier selling many bikes at them prices! thats a complete and utter total joke!
I always said not trying to defend a world title is just weak.
