      I love his videos.
      His son Ethan is a hoot. He went to a trade school (after graduating from high school) so he would be in the family business. , and he looks like Hank Williams Jr. (long hair), wears what looks like a regular cowboy hat .. In fact it is a hardhat .. kinda cool. When I first saw him like that, I put my head in hands and thot Oh, boy! But I don't think his Dad cares as long as he works and knows what he is doing, or learning. I didn't recognize him at first.
      Ron's Dad died very suddenly from Cd. (I hate the word.) He went to the hospital, on Drs. recommendation. Expected to be home in a day or two, but died. Ron was devastated.
      Great family .. no swearing (which I love) Hard working, not living off the gov't.

  • @jeremiemoon1748
    @jeremiemoon1748 Před 2 lety +1

    I was a tow truck operator for quite some time myself. I found, with a Volvo truck, if the latch isn't releasing, try going under the hood directly over the tire. Feel for the wire cord that releases the hood, and give it a steady pull. Do that on both sides, and your hood is fully released.

      I dont mind Ron being overly cautious on the small and seemingly easy jobs. It only takes one tiny mistake from taking a shortcut to cause major damage or injuries to someone around even a simple recovery. There is a time and place for shortcuts and good old boy routines but heavy recovery is neither one.

    Above ground deck, no pram rails... a disaster waiting to happen! Some of the in ground decks are now with an open pit. That is a disaster in the making...
    The only advantage of an above ground weighbridge / scale like this is that if there is a leak of some sort in the truck or the load, the dangerous goods / gas will dissipate, not like a pit, which will store and build up the materials. An exercise was conducted with the fire brigade, a truck leaking dangerous goods and a levertronic weighbridge set in a pit. 10 crews of firefighters killed off by not neutralizing the platform first, then neutralizing both headworks / indicators in the office.
    One place that had an old Hawke & Co installed, they removed the lever system and put 4 load cells in. The pit was deep enough, and was kept spotless by the owner. As there was a nice wide stairway down to the pit, which went under the old beam / steelyard, the owner of the property would on occasions, have 'pit dinners' for different local charities. Lighting would be strung from the deck underside, tables and chairs placed, and it was usually a great evening was had by all! The charities also gained a lot from the dinners!

    Best part about those gloves is if anyone ever gets out of line your knuckles will be just fine :P This video is a perfect example of why lift bars or spreader bars are a thing.. to hold the cables apart over the load while you lift it so it doesn't get damaged.. would've been highly useful.

    I did one like that last winter with a straight stick. I backed on the scale instead of backing up on a 90 to the front of the truck. Lifted by the Ali arc pin and swung the front over. Guy had spun his tires and got a bollard between the two sets of duals so I had to drag the back end over too. Yay fun lol

    Great recovery, it look so much worse at first. Ethan is following his Dad's & Grand Father's Footsteps. This is how Family Businesses are supposed to be. I've seen a lot of drivers having scale issues over the years. My worst experience was sleeping at a steel mill scale when I was flat bedding. Another driver came up behind me while I was 1st in line at the scale, & hit the back of my trailer so hard he actually bent the frame of the trailer, broke the ICC Bumper off & shoved my tractor onto the scale sideways. I kind of ended up looking just like this one, but the scale I got shoved up onto was elevated about a foot higher. After all was said & done, the trailer was toast & I drove the tractor around for another 6 months with a nice dent in the oil pan. Glad it was a company truck.
