Should I compare it to the GYS Auto Pulse?
You installed the wire spool incorrectly; the wire should exit the bottom of the spool providing better alignment with the cable housing.
If you review your welding in this video you will notice that sometimes the weld sputters but most of the time it doesn’t I think if you flip the spool over you will notice smoother and more consistent starts.

Where's the best place to seam an S-10 cab corner. The patch panel is 16" top to bottom
Typically, the best place to seam is where the seam is the most narrow. Have you seen my truck aperture replacement video on a dodge ram? Might be helpful!
