Combo Used: Team Daiwa Zillion Type R (14 lb Sunline Sniper Fluorocarbon) with BPS JohnnyMorris Carbonlite Micro (6'6" medium power, fast action)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Recommended gear - 10-14 lb fluorocarbon - fluorocarbon sinks, is more sensitive and has better abrasion resistance than mono.
Use a 6'6" or 7' medium power rod with a medium-fast tip to allow for easier casting of lightish baits and ample shock absorption for bass that jump/make runs.
Baitcasting gear or spinning gear are both effective.
Squarebill tips:
Check your line often for frays!!! When crashing your bait into cover your line will inevitable take a beating, run your fingers accross your line every five minutes. If it feels rough or you see any nicks, re-tie so you don't lose a fish of a lifetime!
Effective in water temps 50 - 75 degrees
Ideal conditions - wind or clouds, stained water, muddy water
Where not to use the bait - heavy vegetation, open water, deep water
Use a sweeping (horizontal) hookset to bury the bottom hanging hooks on the bait into the side of the bass' mouth. When you feel a strike, keep reeling while simultaneously jerking the rod to your side.
Hold the rod at different angles to control the depth of the bait. For a kvd 1.5 squarebill, holding the rod straight up will cause the bait to dive 1-2 feet while holding the rod tip close to the water will allow the bait to dive in the 4 foot range. To increase diving depth, use lighter line and make longer casts.
When using a snap to allow quick bait changes, be sure to remove the split rings on your baits!
Colors - white to imitate shad or use in clear water/sunny conditions, green pumpkin/watermelon type colors to imitate shad or use in clear water/cloudy conditions, chartruese/black back in murky water, brown/red/orange colors to imitate crawfish around rocky areas
Where a squarebill crankbait doesn't work well - heavily weeded areas and open water devoid of cover.
Try using a snap to allow for quick bait changes on the water. If using a snap, remove the split ring from the crankbait because the snap will replace it. Tie on a new snap every trip and be sure to still check your line for frays.
If snagged and shaking doesn't free the bait, try walking or positioning your boat on the opposite side from where you cast then gently pull on the bait until it becomes freed.

Lol I've jumped in the lake many times to save lures. Sometimes have to dive down underwater to unsnag them.
Gj
same I know the struggle
lol
My dignity is worth more than $15 lol
Anthony Garcia the snakes I've seen in my lake keep me out of there
i enjoy your awkwardness it actually calms me down and makes me relax for some odd reason good work bud still trying to get my first bass though...
me too it seems like i'm not doing something right i just don't know what. I think my main issue is actually finding the bass's location. I did catch an adolescent large mouth bass in a pond on power bait but it was really tiny so I don't think it really counts
@@jacobrogers4619 I am a beginner aswell. First months were pretty hard. I guess the main thing with lure fishing is to stop, look at the water and search for clear activity. Then use shallow to deep diving lures until it bites. Since I've been doing this "ritual" I've been catching 2+ fish per session.
I don't have bass where I live, but I think this is basic for every kind of fish around the world.
You were uploading at 60fps in 2015! Amazing.

i been using the perch 1.0 square bill and gettin em good got 8 in an hour on it and its a miracle i dodnt snag it on a limb. i shoulda kissed it.the nass @ clopper lake dont bite much on other colors for me.the kvd does vibrate more than a few others i got a shallow rick clunn luckycraft squarebill for 10 bucks and its ok but just dont do what the kvd does! tight lines also a lure retriver will keep you alot dryer
Are you planning on coming down to Florida any time soon because I really want to meet you and fish.
So graceful! :P
Started fishing at a state park and wondering what would be the best confidence baits to pull out some largemouth bass. Rocky for about 10-20 feet out and then goes to a grassy bottom. Air temp has been in the 50s for the past couple days. Clearer water. Thought about a lipless crank-bait, jerk bait or possibly a jig. Any ideas and tips would be of service.
+BassAngler100 all three of the baits you listed are excellent choices!
Nice one! Thanks
Lol was fishing today, and my crankbait was sitting on the top of the water, and a bass crushed it on the top 😂 lol
ReWind Clan haha, always a good feeling
Was that square bill the strike king black back chart?
Love the Naruto shirt!
Nice love the video
Zara Spook, plz. And include walking the dog. Heh.
Extreme Philly Fishing its not that hard dude
***** I'm assuming that it's not hard for you because you know it already? Just because you know it already doesn't mean that it makes it easier for others to learn. That applies for every topic in society. Thus, it's subjective. Tight lines!
Extreme Philly Fishing I love how you roast everyone
Extreme Philly Fishing I love your videos
Would it be affective just to cast and retrieve in open water? (Like in lakes)
what's up 1rod 1reel I have a question can you tell me what is the gear ratio for that casting reel and can I use that set up for lipless crankbait?
u should come to Seaford Delaware n go to these ponds called "Williams pond and Patrick's pond"
I have a question, would a red crankbait with a few black stripes and a rattle inside work good for a pond with a little bit of clear water, but still a little bit cloudy? Also, what knot do you use to tie crankbaits? I'm a new fisherman. :)
THAKS FOR THE AMAZING VID!!!!!
what size rod and type of line are you using ? great video !!
thank you!
i have the same bait its great really recomend it
can u make a vid on your rig setups on the vid when you fished for cats in the potimic i havent had much luck with the rigs im using and im not the most experienced i hunt more than fish but im trying to fish more

Cason Spradlin glad it helped u :D
I love that shirt
do you have a video on how to fish with spinner baits?
tht shirt is sick
What gear ratio are you using for crankbaits? Nice videos, keep doing your thing 👍
I'm with Leo, zarra spook/ walk the dog video would be great. I was at meadow lake (philly) yesterday trying to get a top water bite going but my technique was trash! Lol.
great video.
Sweet Kakashi T-shirt
Could you do a video on how you fishy your big curl tail worms like the Zoom Mag 2?? Please and thank you. Also are they good to use in spring. 50-65 degree water?
+Josh Hoeve they are good to use for a bigger bite in that water temp, fish em around drop offs on a texas rig, good luck!
