He cost Piastri about a second a lap from the damage of having Ricciardo shunted into him - so about 30 seconds there. He cost Ricciardo the rest of his race. 10s is very generous considering how incompetent the mistake was.

the chinese fans attending the race are absolutely ruthless with the memes. i saw more than a few dressed up like the Mattia Binotto clown face meme. more than a few wearing a hgh-vis vests with "sauber tyre-change supervisor" or something written on the back. and some other shiz. i love it.

I get the feeling the Zhou post-race parking on the pit straight is a one-off; I think it's not so much just because it's a home race, but because he is the first driver from that country in F1 ever, and first to drive there in F1, which is a big moment; no other nation represented on the grid has that unique aspect currently

Aren't we all. Crofty was never perfect but he was a lot better before he reduced his commentary commitments and was still covering all the practices. Now he saunters in for the headline sessions and is a lot dumber and less informed.

I love it when Nico is on there. No BS straight to the point, calls out anything that is commentator fluff and gives such unique insight to what the drivers are doing it's fascinating and super entertaining. What a boy.
I really do love Nico's commentary because he brings an insight that the others do not. His explanation of why Lando said "No Thank You" to his engineers suggestion was great. If you can get past his one eye towards Mercedes (I mean this is self explanatory why) and his rivalry with Lewis (again self explanatory) then he is very enjoyable. I'd like him in the booth more often for Sunday commentary.

Danny now also got a grid penalty for Miami cause he apparently overtook hulkenberg during safety car. Others got a 10 second penalty, dannies race is ruined and gets punished next race... ..

No, giving Stroll a penalty for ruining his own race for forgetting to break after giving Alonso a penalty because of Russell forgetting to break after no contact is peak FIA. Stroll had less time to brake than Russell did. That’s an objective fact. Still waiting for justice for Alonso.
@@Parker-- bullshit. Alonso had nobody in front of him at race speed and lifted 100 m earlier than at any other time in the race. It was a deliberate attempted to balk the following driver. Stroll had the most distance to react of the four or five cars involved and was the only one who ran into someone, and not slightly, and it was during a safety car restart when drivers all know to be on their toes for the concertina. Not comparable situations AT ALL.
Chinese fans were the real stars this weekend, absolutely on a roll and just savage.
The cameras were showing them whenever there was free time like, were we having the fan contest or what?

Rosberg subtly jabbing at Hamilton all througout the weekend, and in particular, the sprint race had me creasing.
Rosberg talking about the brake balance and when it's used was very interesting. He delves into subjects we don't usually get from normal non-racer commentators.
The best comment all race was Lando in the cooldown room to Max "That was all your fault"
I did enjoy the exchange between Crofty and Nico about Alonso's good chances of getting back to P7 or so and Crofty saying that was a good thing and excellent move to pit and Nico saying, "He started third! It's a horrible situation!"

Stroll was me playing the F1 game for the first time.
If you look at stroll’s onboard camera footage you can see that he is only looking at the apex of the corner and doesn’t even notice Riccardo until he’s about a meter away
Zhou's Special Podium felt more like it is Zhou's last season. Like this is the last time he is gonna be racing in China. Atleast thats how it felt to me.

Sargeant isn't the one who ran into the back of another car on a restart though. And his 10sec penalty isnt his fault, no way he could know who was at the line. That was 10000% Williams fault, they should have been on that.

@@Trendyflute Yeah I think from sheer idealism it would be okay if Logan had a whole season but I wouldn't blame Williams if they replaced him halfway through the season either. Stroll should go away if there was any justice in the world but I am unsure about that. A Sainz Fernando pairing where they are co-main drivers for a while and after that Alonso aids Sainz from the sidelines would be glorious.

Finally someone said it, LEC gets so much leniency for things like that, both Ferrari and the fans forgive him no matter what.
I know he's faster than Sainz in pure speed, but come on you can't just keep impacting the tea results because you can't work with your teammate when he's close, I know he has helped Sainz before, but most of the time is just because he knows he has no chance, whenever they are close LEC is always a huge risk for both, the sprint was an example of this.

I think Ricciardo was still in contention for point because he was p9 at the restart. He would've had to make another pitstop but he might have been able to get back into the points with fresh tyres

I agree- it seemed like he might be doing an Alonso type strategy but sadly we never got to see it play out. Points were definitely possible, maybe only p10 or p9 but it would have been something and justly deserved after a really strong weekend from him.
You mean Ricciardo would have passed/stayed ahead Lewis in the RB? He was even underperforming than Hulkenberg. He would've ended up 11th at best.
Rosberg's commentary was just absolute gold. The fact he did not care what Crofty had to say and was just fully in former F1 champion glow was a thing of beauty.
I find Crofty vs Rosberg thoroughly entertaining 😂. But I strongly feel that Chandhok is massively underused. The guy’s breadth of knowledge is astounding.
I genuinely think Karun Chandhok may be the hands-down best motorsports commentator out there. Brundle also up there but let's face it he's just getting more outdated with each passing year, both in terms of his sporting knowledge and his general life perspective.

It is worth remembering in spite of all the incredible performances we've seen, that the Red Bull-Honda partnership is coming to an end for the 2026 season. Honda have taken the huge risk by deciding to partner with Aston. I can only imagine what is going through the head of the Honda F1 division as they see Lance Stroll completely embarrass himself and his team on a weekly basis.
Lawrence Stroll needs to decide what Aston Martin F1 really is, a vanity project for his son to race, or a serious F1 team with ambitions to win races and to possible challenge for titles. It can't be both, Honda won't tolerate that or at the very least they won't tolerate that for long. He can't bring in the engineers or staff or sponsors he will need if people think his team is one big vanity project for the family of a driver who has time and time again failed to prove he belongs on the grid.
The thing is, do Honda get any positive or negative attention from being engine designer.
They've had almost no positive gain from Red Bull's performances and I doubt they'd get any negative off Aston.

Sure Stroll could’ve avoided it. But he clearly wasn’t expecting erratic driving during a safety car.
Stroll apparently blamed Danny Ric for allowing Lance to drive under him. As we can see from the in-car Lance was looking at the corner, not the car in front.
Nico is a breath of fresh air in the commentary. He's fearless and insightful. He's not there because he has to be, he's there because why not?

I switched over to Jacques and Palmer because Rosberg was driving me up a wall
So because Ricciardo retired he gets a 3 place grid penalty for next race, overtaking Hulk under the safety car but Lance will get nothing for his crap next race. Nice.
They could’ve served the 10 sec penalty before retiring and avoided the grid penalty. RB messed up here. Not defending baby stroll here but RB shares blame here too..
@@capricornus993 I was thinking that too but I am not sure but I believe the FIA handed the penalty after and not during the race. If that’s true then not much RB could do about a penalty the had no idea was coming. But I agree with you here
@@capricornus993 the penalty was given after. Investigation happened towards the end of the race. No reason to just leave him on the track and use up the components
Agree with both of you but I was coming from the fact that D Rick intentionally overtook the other car believing he was entitled to it for whatever reason. Im sure the team also knew this and could’ve easily communicated with the stewards to mitigate the effects of the incoming penalty. Either way, bad day at the office for RB.

Danny Ric said he looked in his mirror as he stopped in that concertina effect, and saw Stroll looking over to the right hand side of the corner. So he wasn't even looking at DR's car when he ploughed into him. I only hope that the so-called hardened businessman grows a spine and boots him from the F1 team. He's not doing his name or Lance's any good. Get him out before he becomes totally unemployable!
I think Nico and Crofty were awkward to listen to during sprint and quali for main race, but during the race i didn't even notice it.
Crofty probably has beef with Nico because Nico beat a British driver for a title and Crofty cannot stand that.

I'm in dubio about Rosberg. On one hand he looks and acts like the perfect Aryan poster-child. But on the other hand, he dares to say and ask things that no body dares to ask. That alone is so valuable for the sport. To Perez: "Why are you half a second slower than Max?" That is the questions we need. We don't need a wind up, or back story. No, just boom, ask about the fucking elephant in the room.

Shouldn’t be ignored that George is having a great/underrated season so far. In a battle for 6th in the WDC with the 5th best car against Alonso & Piastri in better cars. And would be ahead of both if not for Fernando’s antics in Australia. He’s maximising the car as much as possible.
He also hasn’t lost to Hamilton in a GP yet

Rosberg is so good cuz hes basically one of the drivers. The level of detail he brings, his anticipation and his knowledge of whats going on is amazing to hear, probably because he is the closest sky pundits get to a modern era driver. I also love when he talks abt lewis, you can see that bitterness but respect between them. But imo, modern f1 we need martin and crofty. Cant go wrong with that. And occasionally at spots throughout the race we hear ted or nico or karun.

Nico isnt on the Driver Bias trains that Crofty on times gets in. Like when Lewis passed a Haas and Crofty talked about "We can't see Toto smiling" Nico "He passed a Haas, he isnt smiling" like . . . it is true LOL

Nah this race was an 8-9/10. 2 safety cars, lots of drama,great overtakes and racing, and Nando being Nando. Just puzzles how everyone loved Australia cuz Max dnfd even tho it was a dead race, but Max winning somehow dulls this race
