    Hi sis Zinhle, I am currently in Grade 12. I’ve missed the deadline for applications, I was looking to go to Wits Plan A was apply for Health Sciences and Plan B was to apply for Sciences. I have not got my marks yet, I am currently home/online schooled (ever since COVID hit then I never went back to traditional school). I was wondering if they will give us a chance to register again, I am so worried. My Preliminary exams are coming up in a month and I just cannot seem to stop stressing.🥺

      Hey babe, please don’t stress too much especially given your exams are coming up. These things always find a way to work themselves out. You would have to find out as soon as possible I’ve they make provision for such things. Alternatively maybe apply for other things as well in health sciences as soon as you get your mark and you can go into medicine at a later stage 🤍

    Hi❤️ I am currently in grade 12. I don't have physical sciences, but I have pure mathematics and Life Sciences. And my average was good. Do you think I will be able to do medicine if I don't have Physics? What options do I have?

    • @zinhle.m
      @zinhle.m  Před 3 lety +3

      Physical science is definitely a requirement to study medicine, just like maths is. So your options at this point would be to do a science degree and take physical science and then go into medicine via gemp or after obtaining a degree that had physics in it. So you could try your luck maybe at Wits but I know that other universities definitely make it clear that they need you to have done physical science.
      I hope this makes sense

    I’m currently in grade 9 and I’m looking to be a coroner, I know I have to do pathology (I think) but I’m just wondering do I need lit math or pure math?
    And how much do I need as an overall for math? Like could I get in with a 60 in math but 70-80 in all my other subjects

    • @zinhle.m
      @zinhle.m  Před 3 lety +1

      Hello ✨ so you’d probably need pure math. Most health science related degrees and science related degrees such as pathology need you to do pure math.
      And then in terms of getting in, that would depend on the university. I don’t think though, that they’d turn you down if all your marks are good and your maths mark just meets the minimum requirements.
      I hope that helps 🙏🏼

    • @zinhle.m

      This one is tricky just because you have to apply with grade 11 marks and unfortunately with the maths and physics marks, you don’t meet the ai minimum requirement of 60% and above. Try apply still and see and try improve. But make sure you also apply to another degree that maybe you can bridge into medicine later because then they’ll only look at your matric results

My best advice for matric is to work from day 1. Be consistent from day one. Do your homework from day one right up until the end. That consistency will help you even going into university. Just be disciplined during your matric year and do your work, you definitely will be okay if you do this.

But I'm confused abt the duration period to specialise in orthopedic surgery in UCT, Stellenbosch,UKZn or U of Free State.

    Some say 4 years of undergraduate what what 4 yrs medical then 5 yrs residency. Then 1 yr of fellowship so 14 yrs in total (which is fine for me but in this case I wanna know if i get paid in those 5 yrs of residency)
    Others say 6 yrs medical 2 yrs internship and 1 yr community and I get paid the last 3 yrs.

      Hey babes
      You could, that’s really up to the university. You might not though, they might tell you that they’re waiting for your final matric results to give a response. Sometimes they say that. If you meet the minimum requirements, but your marks aren’t great, they can say that they’ll wait for your final results to make a decision 🤍

      It shouldn’t affect your application, as long as you met the minimum requirements with your grade 11 marks.
