- EU4 has many nations, so many that you don't have time to play them all. One of these is almost certainly EU4 Croatia, which is an EU4 nation in the balkans. Personally, I think they have a really good start to the game as you can get allies early - in fact, I believe the red hawk made an EU4 guide on this nation. Either way, we stick it to the EU4 ottomans... and others!

As someone of Croatian decent (albeit quite a few generations away), I’m excited.
Doring 30 years war like 20k Croatians were in army of catholic league mostly as light cav and were mostly famous for brutality in looting specialy in Magdeburg. After 30 years war some Croats started to surve french mercs.

Hi Laith! I wish I knew you were going to play as Croatia cause I'd have recommended a strat. Specifically, if you restarted there so Ottomans and Hungary rival each other, it's trivial to get Ottomans to support Croatia's independence. If you're lucky, you can get Poland as well (Bohemia is basically guaranteed). Even with just the Ottomans it's really easy to destroy Hungary and Austria. From there, you can also get their help in dealing with Venice (and while doing that war also get Ragusa) while you can even chip away at Ottomans via vassals (get Kosovo from Serbia but keep them as a minor vassal, get Skopje and Ohrid from Ottomans, integrate Serbia, release Bulgaria, slowly get Bulgaria's cores back; also if you vassalize Albania you can get their core from Ottomans as well). You're essentially profiting off of Ottomans as an attack dog and protector which makes it unnecessary to become an HRE member too. If you're extra lucky and they don't get Crimea, after conquering half of Europe while using them, just break alliance after that and attack them with Mamlukes and stuff and it's gg. Your run was also very good don't get me wrong but I'm just suggesting this in case at some other point you feel like playing Croatia you can have an even easier:tm: run! Love your videos, peace!

I don't think the war should end if the primary war goal is no longer available, but maybe a heavily increased AE/cost for taking stuff
To be honest as long you have claim on any province that should not have any impact on the war. But if no of your claims are left then really the war should be treated as no-CB one. ;p
In CK2 I know wars used to end if the claim was taken by another country, I can't speak to CK3. It's a very annoying mechanic to be right on the cusp of victory and then have the war end immediately.

I have also found that lately any non vassal/PU allies I make will basically not participate in wars they join or even outright sabotage me, regardless of our relations. Consistently across multiple games/restarts.
I don’t know how people forget about Croatia, it’s one of the easiest nations to eat and reform in order to Speedrun “Don’t be Cilli”
I think AI allies have been nerfed in this update. Just played a portugal game where my french ally kept all 100k of his soldiers in london and refused to transport them across despite naval superiority.

One of my best campaigns was a coop where my brother played as Croatia and I as the Papal State. The Ottomans supported his independence and he stayed allied with them for quite some time, which led to some bizzare situations, like the Ottomans defending Papal cities from Austrian forces. Later on he formed Jerusalem and the campaign went full Deus Vult.
Best balkan countries in this godforsaken game:
1. Croatia into Dalmatia (Best national ideas in T H E G A M E)
2. Serbia (unique government type + full mission tree + goldmine + better national ideas than Bulgaria)
3. Bulgaria (better unique government reforms but worse everything else than serbia, otherwise very good)
4. Byzantines (horrid dogshit national ideas (minus the discipline) with amazing everything else)
5. Albania (secretly OP)
6. Corfu, Naxos, Epirus (good luck, but if you can pull it off you have some of the best national ideas in the game)
7. Ragusa (like croatia but worse and bad)
8. Athens, Bosnia, Herzegovina, Montenegro, Cilli (don't.)
9. Morea, Achaea, Crete (i bet you didn't even know, but you still shouldn't do this. please. I'm begging you. at least they have greek ideas i guess. but still)
funniest thing to me is when eu4 players go into a war expecting the AI to be useful, you need to acknowledge they will do dumb things and work around that
I enjoyed my game as Croatia a few months back. you replace your old overlord pretty easily.

Croatia can be fun like you shown us, but I honestly prefer Dalmatia with their infantry bonus. The wars with the Ottomans will be less stress-inducing. Oh and hope your eye is getting better. 😁

@@TovalokodoncHungary is not an endgame tag. If you culture convert to Altaic you can form Yuan which allows you to form Mongol Empire. If you were horde you could also form Golden Horde or Ilkhanate by becoming Tatar.
