Yo guy. I am stuck on this with my trailhawk. I cant get the lower control arm to go lower and I dont have a ball joint separator. Ive tried a pry bar but no luck.

Can this be done without a ball joint tool?

When you say transaxle, does that also mean transmission in this case?

Are the cv shafts different from the trailhawk models

The answer is yes, the CV axles are matching left and right on the Trailhawk, but they are different than other models, and different from what is shown here. They have thicker reinforcement closer to the transaxle area. As someone who just did the job, I ended up destroying the boot of the lower ball joint. Note that these ball joints are a royal pain to install. Requires either a special tool or a very strong air hammer.
