I'm a gooner but I loved watching Keegan's Newcastle and so did many people. Never a dull game when they play.

Look at the way the players kick off properly and Wright kicks the ball up field and Srnicek collects and punts it up field.
God I miss those days and football from the 90s

You legend for uploading all these MOTDs! So many great memories watching every Saturday night without fail as a kid. By any chance did the Newcastle V Metz advert at 0:45 have Oasis over the top of it? Funny the things that you remember but I remember a BBC promo for Newcastle in the Uefa Cup round this time with Oasis' wonderwall over the top.

It's Breathe by The Prodigy. The advert is repeated at 29:42 with sound.

This still was good 'ol footy as we had loved for decades. The end of the 90s saw the Premier League change into what we have now & it's not for me. Funny Peter Reid looks much older than Joe Royle but is in fact over 10yrs younger than Joe (a case of au naturale grey v dye).

I cannot explain clearly but I felt the first two Premier League seasons 92/93 and 93/94 still had some remnants of old school football. The next few years were the change and the growth of what I would describe as intense "football overkill".

@@jmxtvarchive9064 yes, the first early years of Premier was still the 80s & feel of old Div 1. What's the nugget that people forget is the Bosman like it or not ruling on foreign players as we knew it in 1995. Of course with contracts to play out it took till the end of the 90s for sides to then beginning to be a hopscotch of multi ethnic groupings padded out by 3 or 4 Brits & 2 of them Scottish & 1 Welsh or Irish!😉(mind you they were to be foreign players too). But this mid 90s play with 2 or 3 foreign players felt like my 1970s in passion, taking good tackles (that Beardsley tackle was a send off tho it wasn't malicious just a player who shouldn't tackle!). This as said was a great period of play & yes intense but very watchable but overkill can't agree, but still very British with mainly Brit managers. Today's football hasn't passion in it as the money talks instead of the heart & too much false shirt kissing makes me🤮. Tks for your vids.

I agree with that song. That & goal for the month song life of Riley what remind me of the good old days. Would really like to know what that opening sequence was. It covered 95-97 at least. Unsure after 97?

Funny how you can hear the crowd in these games and they sound like they are having the time of their lives getting behind the team. Now it’s either idiots with offensive chants of no atmosphere at all . No real fans really get to see the bigger teams at these grounds
