Those GQ Armory guns definitely get my attention. They look like modern rifles rather than just another mil-spec forged receiver set.
I ran a shorty 6 ARC that I built for a while. Yes you’ll get more velocity out of 18 or more but you’d be surprised what it can do with an 11 or 12 inch barrel. The BC on those heavy 6mm bullets are high enough to hang onto that velocity out to great distance. Fun little gun!
Indeed! Thanks for watching!
Love the 6 arc! Extremely capable round! Great review!
Oh, my wish list just got longer. Very interesting gun! Thanks for the great review.
That’s one excellent expensive review from the ammunition to the rifle.
This gun is so gucci and has the horsepower to back it up. So cool.
I say it every video... Best reviews on the interwebs. Great Job!
Really appreciate you taking the time to watch!
That is one tight little package!!!
I know what my next purchase is gonna be!
Just got a Flow 762 that I was gonna pair with a 308 I had my eye on, but that GQ is too fine looking to pass up. I love the ability to reach out and touch and yet still light and compact enough for CQB...
This is the first video I have seen in a long minute. Cullman Alabama watching . Keep up great work.
I’ve been a 6.5 Grendel guy since 2011 and absolutely love the ballistics I get from a 20” barrel.
If I had it to do over again, I might go with 6 ARC but I’m not going to retool my setup for marginal velocity gains (depending on bullet weight, and BC)) and marginal loss of energy on target. (Again depending on weight and BC)
What I really want to see is the 6.5 Grendel in an 11.5” barrel, shooting the same weight bullets as the 6 ARC compares and then the heavier 123 gr. out of the 6.5.
I’ve been shooting 6.5 Grendel since 2009. 6mm ARC is a velocity loss to Grendel, with marginal BC gains, but when I run the doppler Radar numbers vs real-world, it still looks like Grendel matches or wins. 100gr 6.5mm will fly much faster than 6mm ARC from the same barrel lengths due to piston area and bore volume, as well as more case volume in the Grendel. Grendel will do it with less chamber pressure as well. From a 20” with LVR, you will be in the 2820fps region under a 100gr (2770-2869fps).
I’ve been shooting the new 100gr ELD-VT from my 17.6” Grendel from 700-1000yds, and have never been off-steel. I also shoot the 12” Grendel every time I take Grendels out, and it is great at distance, almost indistinguishable from 17.6” and 18” Grendels. 500yds is boring and much tighter-grouping than seen in this video.
11.5” Grendel will shoot 100gr at 2540fps using LVR under 100gr ELD-VT or 2400fps for 105gr Sierra. Factory 100gr ELD-VT will do 2400fps, as they aren’t pushing it. You an turn around and still use the 105gr Cavity Back MKZ monoliths, as well as 123gr SST, 123gr ELD-M, 123gr Fort Scott TUI, and 129gr Nosler Accubond LR with 1300fps expansion. 90gr TNT do 2698fps from my 12” Grendel suppressed.
Geeks say what?
@@LRRPFco52damn brother you got a channel?! lol I just built a 12.5 inch Grendel and I’m still learning about it. Break in has been a little rough but still working on it
@@sickvendetta9 My 12" Grendel is my favorite of all my ARs. Mine is suppressed 100%. I use the Bootleg adjustable gas carrier to control the cyclic rate with the suppressor.
De-edge, blend, and polish the feed ramps. Radius the ejector. Barrel is bedded into the upper, which is squared.
I use an extra power action spring and standard buffer. Runs like a raped ape over the last 7 years.
Great review as always!!
Really appreciate that man! Thanks for watching!
Great job with this video!
I been running a 6x45 and 6 Max in 11-12.7”. Love em.
Great video and shooting Tim!
"300 Blackout and 6 ARC upper you literally would not have a role that could not be filled"
I'll counter with a role that uses cheap ammo.
I agree , those are my main 2 choices and the 2 I build the most …. 6.5 Grendel gets the job done also but I run them with 16 inch barrels although I’ve heard they make for a decent SBR
Agreed....already rockin both!
That's why I love the 6.5 Grendel. The ability to plink cheap Wolf in a fun 12" SBR is such a nice option.
I built a 12 inch SBR 6ARC for my son and I hand load 90 grain eldx with 30grains of leverevolution and it’s pushing over 2500 fps , I don’t think I’ll ever go back to 556 unless I run out of 6ARC ammo
I have a similar setup in 6.5 grendel. I love it!
The ubiquitous 5.56 is irreplaceable!
Love Quinns guns.. apart from maybe the goldy bits... he says thats style....
and your excellent reviews.. when I get chance..
and I learned a lot..
Respect from the UK..
N x
Goldy bits are good for thumbnails
Good looking rifle
I am in love with this build
I have an 11.5 6arc...love it!
A lot less Gucci, but I built a 12" 6.5 Grendel SBR with LAW folder years ago and it's a shooter out to about 1k. Great truck gun that gets shot a fair amount still and I'm stacked VERY deep in the surprisingly effective on hogs 100gr Wolf steel (from the $0.30/rd days). But thinking of getting a 6ARC upper, especially since I already have a plethora of spare 6.5 bolts and mags, and now good brass ammo costs the same or less than quality Grendel.
Yep my 12in odin works 6.5 grendel barrel shoots 1moa with hornady sst
If you buy 100gr ELD-VT ammo from Hornady, there’s your 6mm performance. I have shot it from 700-1000yds and never was off the steel with 17.6” Lilja Grendel. Super-flat shooting like 107gr SMK, but costs less. There are several factory 107gr SMK Grendel options, but not at Hornady prices and Hornady was on the shelf at Scheel’s.
Exactly perfectly happy with my Grendel’s out to 1000 and it’s heavier
Alexander Highlander, just a 1.5-4 Leupold 1" green firedot scope.
It was only about $1,100 back in the day (10 or 12 years ago?)
No reason to change with a barrel that short. You've already invested in the better caliber for SBR. But if you really think that making the change is worth it, look at going at least 14" to be comparable to your 6.5. I try not to let the muzzle velocity get too slow. Bad things happen to terminal performance when the round hits 2100fps and below.
Look at this absolute beast
I build my own rifles now, and on one of my last builds I considered a carbon fiber but learned if there can be variables through out the length, and ones that are wrapped can have issues. So even though you definately save on weight you risk having some accuracy issues if it's not done exactly right. So for those reasons I have yet to use a carbon barrel.
This has definitely got my attention .
It’s a very interesting rifle and cartridge. Thanks for watching!
Great gun and hello from Trussville.
Thanks 👍
Appreciate you watching!
I have a 12.5" 6.5 Grendel upper that I've used with great success on Mule and White Tail deer. 6mm ARs are awesome. I would LOVE to see whats possible with the 6ARC and 6.5G using that bi-metal case tech SIG had been teasing for a while.
About time! Connectivity problems?
That price tag is crazy
Remember there are other variants that are easier on the budget and should still be capable of similar results. Thanks for watching!
What’s crazy is that people will happily pay it just to say look at what I got and then only shoot 5 rounds per year lol.
I must’ve missed it, what was that price tag again?
Would love to see this in 6mm Max, but GQ Paladin Carbon’s are all brilliant… I wish they would go with a Triggertech Diamond 2 Stage trigger.
I'd have one in 6 Max
6Max is Proprietary at the moment, from what I heard. No one can get reamers and make barrels except BC Precision and SOLGW, there may be others but this is all I am currently aware of. So your 6max options are very limited. I have thought about getting one but I already have 6ARC keep going back and forth one if it would be worth it
@davidsonfitness318 proprietary you say... how many company's are making 6 ARC ammo again?
@MrNpc81 6mm ARC is SAMMI speced so anyone can make it. To answer your question though... Hornady, HSM, Copper Creek, Blackhills, Ally Munitions... there are atleast 2 others I know who are preparing to load it. There are a bunch of companies making 6 ARC barrels though and only one or 2 making 6 max. Who is loading ammo for it?
6.5 Grendel still out-performs them both. 100gr from 11.5” barrel will do 2480-2540fps and still have lower chamber pressure than both the ARC and 6mm Max. The new Hornady ELD-VT, Sierra 105gr TGK, and 105gr Cavity Back MKZ cover the 100gr class really well, exit at much faster speeds than 6mm do, and the BCs are closer than published. 124 factory loads for Grendel and counting. I’ve been shooting 12” for 7 years now, and it does really well at long range. 1st-round hits at 780yds are quite easy.
Good informative video.!
Appreciate you watching man!
The 22 arc might be even better.
A Noah’s ARC would be a slick addition to that setup.
Totally agree! Can’t wait for that can! Thanks for watching!
Great now you got me wanting one to go with my 16" I have now !
You can’t ever have too many! Thanks for watching!
I have an 18” Wilson Combat 6arc rifle and a 20” Ballistic Advantage barreled rifle and I love them both. I’m also thinking about building a shorter barrel variant myself! He’s right, you can never have too many 😂
Looks like an Ascend Armory receiver set rebranded 😎
Along with a smoke composites handguard.
Fine fine fine I’ll order a Paladin!!
I'll have to look into a short barrel 6 arc . I have the 6.5 Grendel with a 11.5" barrel.
Definitely a cool gun!
I'm pretty fond of it, Thanks for watching!
Nice video! I have the same 6mm as well. Looking for a good monopod any recommendations? What do you have on your 6 arc?
I’m conflicted because I was educated 6mm Arc best barrel lengths are longer barrels. It is also to my understanding that this is a supersonic round so no sub’s ammo.i may just invest into Q LLC 16”inch barrel bolt action Mini Fix chamber in 6 Arc just makes more sense . Plus the price GQ armory is asking I can get a Q’s Fix and a free silencer with the deal .
Cool setup, I also have the Mark5 3-18 with the badger mount, what type J-arm do you have for the acro?
GQ Armory always delivering!
Will the 6 arc upper fit a 300 blackout paladin lower? Will GQ ever sell 6arc upper? Thank you Alabama Arsenal for another excellent review.
It will, and I asked them before the video and they said they would sell uppers to anyone who already has a Paladin lower so just hit them up. Thanks for watching!
Good to hear this. Thank you !
Shooters I talk to have had numerous reliability issues with 6 ARC... They swear by 6 Max though. I wonder if that might be a good alternative for a better reliability "micro sniper" build.
Nice!
Interesting and informative 🇯🇲
Love 6 ARC
Do you have to change the buffer spring if you are running a 6MM ARC upper on a regular 556 lower? Im running a H3 for my 11.5 suppressed right now
Great looking rifle, just wish there was more than one company making 6arc I think that’s why the prices are so high.
Also that’s some really slow 62gr ammo. I’m running imi 77gr from a 16” barrel and I’m getting 2720fps
Nice rifle but 22 ARC is what am waiting on that thing is ultimate caliber because it can still shoot really fast and short barrel and even more less recoil
Yeah, I would like to try 22 ARC as well, and while it will be an effective round, I'm not sure it will have more kinetic energy than the 6 ARC. Thanks for watching!
I don't need it, but now I want it.
Careful.. that’s how “needs” start. 😂
@@MrFrenchHarp fortunately I'm "saved" by not having much use for the caliber. I love it, just don't have the space for it
@@GBGuns I’m leaning towards a Blackout Defense 13.9” .556 because they are getting some incredible accuracy at distance with it. Either that or a Tikka Tac A1 and a zero compromise zc527 for long range shooting. I’ve got a fully loaded out ddmk18 .556 right now and a browning 6.5 CM w Zeiss scope for deer hunting. I’m actually just fine and should stop. 😂
Now this video has the wheels turning...
I picked 6.5 Grendel long before 6 ARC was introduced, not going to switch
Seen some people saying really great stuff about the 6max have you played with it yet
Have you shot Nemo’s 6mm ARC? Just curious as to what you would say in comparing the two.
Crazy good lookin. Makes me X7 looks bland. Though still waiting for .277 barrels and ammo
If you can have only 1 9mm can, what would it be? Splitting the difference between size and noise. Your review of the RS9 makes me think that may be my 9mm suppressor. Suggestions?
I watched a vid on the new US military rifle round. It is a beast
Nice 👍
I realize 6max is really new and technically still in development by BC Precision Balistics, but I think this setup from GQ Armory would benefit greatly and be a touch better with the 6max-as it uses the 5.56 bolt, which is stronger than the 6.5Grendel-6mm ARC.
I am heavily invested in the 6.5 Grendel and love it, but I have been considering swapping my barrel for a 6mm ARC. But, since the 6max is now in the works, I think I’ll wait until the amount of parts and ammunition suppliers increases.
For me, the jump from 5.56 to 6max is more logical in the realm of military carbine/DMR/long-range rifle use that would serve the Infantry, SF’s, SOF’s & LE Agencies well. Especially since it’s a nice ballistic upgrade/improvement, while requiring minimal parts changes on existing rifles, which leads to economically sound decision for the American taxpayers.
Before you do all that, shoot the 100gr ELD-VT from Hornady in 6.5 Grendel. It’s 6mm performance in a box without needing to change. They’re not even pushing it either. 2740fps from a 24” barrel. Hodgdon’s data shows 2900fps from the same barrel length using LVR under 100gr.
Got fingers crossed for 6max...but history doesn't bode well for 'the next best thing' rounds.
I have a question: what’s the barrel life on the 11in barrel? Is it 1000-1200 or will it be 1500-2500 or even higher since it has a short barrel? I went on the website but it doesn’t say under the description, but what it does say is if you break it, we will fix it. I wonder if that covers the barrel wear out?
How loud is 6 arc compared to 300 blk unsuppressed?
As reliability is always that elephant in the room...What magazines were you guys running and how was the reliability?
Cool video
Thanks for watching!
The caption says applause every time he shoots..it’s a standing ovation at this point..😂😂..beautiful longbow tho..nice shooting
I really want to see your take on 6mm MAX
6ARC is great. But at this point. I'll hold out for the 6MAX.
Makes one wonder why the military wouldn't adopt this
Bolt problems and clogging gas tubes are 6 ARCs biggest issues
That thing is around 3 grand a pop 😂
Ammo/parts availability for a very niche weapon. Some of the tier 1 units have adopted 6 arc but different budgets
Because you are talking about changing over hundreds of thousands of weapons with have a huge inventory of spare parts, ammo, mags and training material.
@@matthewconnor5483 You mean kinda like they're doing with the 277 fury??? Oh ok
"Short barrel" suppressed configurations like this would be the civilian norm if not for the NFA and similar State laws. Suppressors would perform better; actions would run clearer and more reliably suppressed; cartridges would have been optimized for shorter barrels long ago.
No subsonic 6 arc. So it can do almost anything. If there was subsonic 6 arc then this would truly be a one gun for everything gun.
Towards the end of the video I bring that up, if you had this and a 300BLK upper everything would truly be covered. Thanks for watching!
People really need to start reloading for cartridges like this. There are loads out using Trail Boss powder that are subsonic.
@@AlabamaArsenal I'm up in the mountains and last year i chose for my shtf setup an OdinWorks 21" 6 arc with an 8.5" 300 BO upper in the pack...I've been trying to get feedback from several forums with zero response. Finally feel vindicated
Honestly 2250 for the non carbon and "less expensive" version isn't really worth it. Cool rifle though
Has anyone ever tried the Banish 30 suppressor and if so, how much blow back does it have?
Very good round however results are spoiled via 4,5 inches of barrel(16" is a minimum) as well as for carbon wraped barrel which makes for very unstabil results due to temperature changes sensitivity. Sorry for my english.
Great stuff. Can it support the 6 Max round? 🍻
Awesome build. But just seeing the wasted velocity makes me want a compact 6arc bullpup
A 6 ARC bullpup would be cool. Thanks for watching!
Desert Tech has intimated that 6ARC and 8.6 BLK are in the works for the new WLVRN
those 62 grain velocity numbers are way low. My 16 inch gun with 5.56 ammo averages just over 2900.00
What is the lifespan of the barrel if it has the same energy as a 308?
Great video. Comment for the algorithm!
It'll be interesting to see if 6mm MAX takes off and if so, if GQ offers their short guns in it.
It won’t.
@@HWG-wm8ld Maybe. Ultimately it doesn’t need to. We have no shortage of effective calibers already. But I still want to see what happens!
I'm torn, would it better to go with 6ARC or see how 6mm Max plays out?
Try comparing 6MAX to 5.56mm instead and make a decision based on that.
6.5 Grendel?
Can you please tell buddy that it's "Impact" and not "hit". Thanks.
Military doesn’t shoot 16in barrels either. Mostly 14.5 or shorter.
Nice
My understanding is that carbon fiber is embedded in epoxy resin. I don't understand how a carbon fiber barrel can hold up to sustained shooting. In my younger days i enjoyed plinking with 9mm carbines at the range - they got smokin hot! I know plastic is not ideal for heat dissipation. Is this kind of barrel suited for military use or just civilian use?
This gun is everything that’s wrong with firearm manufacturers. Tacky as shit.
What would say is the best sounding can for it out of those you tested? Thanks for all the great videos and time you put into them.
Its a tough call, but I'm going to say the Huxwrx Flow 762Ti. Thanks for watching!
@@AlabamaArsenal I was going to say it looked like most of the shots were done w/out hearing protection in (unless I missed it). Not seeing how this would be that quiet even with a good quality suppressor on to not make my ears ring.
@@AlabamaArsenal Did you get a chance to shoot this with the Polonium or the Polonium K? Hello from Hoover btw
People outside the bullpup master race just need to accept that bullpups are the master race lol
It's the Zo6 of ARs.
Shiney gold bolt carrier
The biggest problem with all of these newer calibers meant to replace 5.56 and .308 is cost of ammo along with the limited supply compared to the 5.56 and .308. When I buy a gun I want to be able to find ammunition virtually anywhere for the unlikely buy always possible SHTF type situation where you may find yourself scavening for ammo. Now if you already have plenty of the prevalent and available ammo and you have money to burn on fun toys it makes these new offerings more attractive but with the lack of steady availability it's hard to get behind.
They offer this in both calibers. Ide go with the 308 but i want a shorty so im thinking 8.6 or 300 blk, if I go 308 i want atleast 16 to 20" barrel. They cost same as honey badger.
Have you ever tried the 6 max?
I have not, maybe someday. Thanks for watching!
In 6MAX would be 🔥🔥🔥
Sexy. If I didn’t have an 11” Odin Grendel Id be all in
Appreciate you watching!
6 max seems more intriguing than 6 ARC
Let’s see how it compares to 6mm max
108 grain bullet
2300 fps
whats crazy is my FK BRNO pistol shoots a 95 grain at just under 2000 fps from a 5.3" barrel. Man I wish someone would make a PCC for that round.
Which "can" are you using? Thank you
We go over all the cans used towards the end of the video
How do I purchase one of this magnificent tool??❤❤
