    I really like Magpul. I am not used to a company that puts the customers ahead of even profits. Their products are good quality and well designed as well as competitively priced. I try to do business with them when ever I can and hope to do much more in the future.

    I'm partial to the ACS-L myself. It balances nicely when paired with a 20" pencil barrel, and the friction lock is an outstanding feature. I keep a couple 2032 batteries in the storage compartment for my optic.

    My RUGER PC chassis carbine came with a MAGPUL MOE adjustable stock on a RUGER I-beam thingy that clamped to the vertical Pic rail at the back end of the receiver.
    MY STOCK UPGRADE: (1.)remove the I-beam from the carbine and the MOE stock (2.)attach Midwest Industries "folding buffer tube adaptor" to the vertical Pic rail (3.)screw an LBE buffer tube into the MI folding adaptor (use blue LocTite) (4.)slide the original MOE stock on the buffer tube and... VOILA'! a sturdy folding stock for my RUGER chassis PCC.
    *place a 1" wide x 2" long strip of Gorilla tape at 12 o'clock at the rearmost position of the buffer tube to prevent the MOE stock from wobbling. Use no more or no less tape. This way you re-use the MOLE stock with no need for the newer MAGPUL "locking" MOE stock.

    I am looking at the ACS to go on a Vltor A5 buffer system but I really like the standard MOE stock for most things. They are light, rugged, fit well & they are cheap. I don't find it worth the extra $ for the locking system. It is nice but it ads cost & complexity & if you do have any play in a standard MOE & it bothers you, just put a little strip of the soft side of Velcro on your buffer tube & slide the stock over it. That takes up the extra space on any stock that has some play in it.

    Food for thought. If you have a smith & wesson m&p 15-22 or you have tapco furniture on your AK variant and you want to install a magpul, then you want to get the commercial stock. They fit on my AK that had a tapco "buffer tube", so did my saiga 12, and I coarse my S&W m&p 15-22. My thoughts here is that plastic is more fragile so they thicken those "buffer tubes" to commercial thickness for durability.

    I started at the bottom and worked my way up the line. First got a MOE just for the affordability when I built my first AR. Then, upgraded to CTRs that AR and another I build. Finally, I bought a UBR for my 'higher end' AR. It adds a considerable amount of weight, but damn it is a good stock. I think if you are doing a KISS build, the CTR stock can't be beat. I've run it through classes and beat the heck out of it… still good to go. Think of the UBR as a TANK… the Bull Bar you put on the front of your 4x4. It is solid, adjustable and worth the extra weight depending on your requirements. Great Vid!

    My Sig M400 "enhanced" came with full magpul furniture including the MOE stock in ODG;) I live that stock and the fire grips too! I got that rifle the week Obama got re-elected at Walmart with a really nice soft sided Sig tactical case for $918 plus tax in Florida!!! That's like $300 cheaper than just the rifle no case at any gun dealer in the Orlando area😳 I've got more than 1500 rounds through it and it runs perfect with zero issues! All the magpul furniture has stood up and still looks brand new! I support them because of their stand against colorado's bullshit new laws as well. I'm sold on the quality, and don't plan on running anything else on my stuff! I even bought the enhanced thicker but stock pad, and larger aluminum trigger guard, and about 2 dozen of their mags as well! Probably going to try their foldaway sights too. All thought I do like the stock Sig sights including the rear fold away. We'll see.....

    I run a few of the new MOE carbine stocks, they are a solid option if your state has silly rules on the books about folding stocks, the MOE carbine stocks are short and need the .8" add-on recoil pad to fit a grown up person, the MOE carbine stock can work with a ASAP and carbine buffer tube. the great thing about them is one single regular screw and its off and a CTR can pop rite on when I'm out of state. thanks for the video sootch00!

    The MOE was introduced after the CTR. I thought it was just a slip of the tongue the first time the narrator said the MOE came first, but then he said it again. • @enigmarocker

    Im totally dumbfounded on what Im doing wrong and not particularly fond on the idea of returning my parts...but I just built an AR15 lower (spikes tactical) and using a new CMMG receiver extension kit [buffer tube] (as far as I know, the CMMG tube is definitely mil spec). I then took my mil spec magpul fixed stock and tried to slip on that stock to my extension tube...the screw holes on BOTH magpul fixed-stock adapters are cut off by the buffer tube's lower adjustment/positional tab area (the lower area of the buffer tube where it slants). Not sure if Im describing this well enough...but long story short, I cant get the screw for my magpul fixed stock to go through to the other side of the fixed stock, because the lower part of my buffer tube is blocking the screw where its supposed to insert thru the fixed stock. I really dont think I screwed in my buffer tube too far either, its perfectly holding the tube retention pin in place. I compared my CMMG buffer tube to my Colt M4's buffer tube and they look identical EXCEPT for the lower part of the buffer tube where the adjustment notches are...the "lower slant" of the CMMG buffer tube looks slightly beefier than the Colt M4 buffer tube. Very frustrated. Any thoughts or ideas? Thank you in advance!

      @hectorthrills8193 Před 9 měsíci

      U get an answer on this?

    • @enigmarocker
      @enigmarocker Před 9 měsíci

      @hectorthrills8193 yeah...its been a while so Im trying to remember the details. It felt like the twilight zone with why it didnt fit...I dont know if there was a screw or something within the end of the new stock, but I recall removing the screw completely from the magpul stock and shaking it a bit and tapping it, maybe I had something lodged inside of it that was preventing it from fully closing on the buffer tube. 10th try was a charm...I simply slid the stock onto the buffer tube all the way, pushed in moderately and it sank down on the tube/finally inserted all the way, and I was able to re-insert the screw and screw it in all the way. Maybe try removing your magpul retention screw completely...dont lose the retention nut if there is one, Im sure there is. Also make sure theres nothing inside your stock that is preventing it from closing tight and inserting all the way at the end of the buffer tube, like a piece of paper, plastic, or screw or who knows what that was maybe floating around in the box. Dont force it though, you definitely shouldnt have to force it in. Maybe get a flashlight and look down inside the stock as best you can and make sure theres no defects or anything jammed in there either. Best of luck!

    I gotta be honest. I was kinda 'meh' about 'MagPul products' until I bought my M&P15 which came with their MLOK handguard and a Gen2 mag. As a former soldier from the late 80s, I thought metal mags and a regular 'M4 stock' were good enough... Preferred, even.
    Now? I can't get enough of them! That handguard's built in heat shield is excellent, the mag is way more durable than I thought it would be (so much so I've moved on to their gen 3s), and their ergos are second to none!
    Now? I hate that I'm saying this but I really want one of their stocks with a thicker cheek-weld and QD mounts...
    Thanks MagPul! 😡

  • @futuresonex
    @futuresonex Před 10 lety +5

    The CTR and the PRS are my favorites, and of course the MOE due to it's light weight, low cost, great design & high quality. If you have a precision rifle with a collapsible stock the CTR is most definitely the way to go due to its friction lock, which gives it the stability of a fixed stock, and the availability of attachments to raise the comb height for a better cheek weld with tall optics including. There is one from LaRue Tactical that is even fully compatible with your AR15's charging handle. For a precision rifle with a fixed stock the PRS can't be beat. It's absolutely ideal for the job, and if you want even more adjustability for your PRS you can get the "Enhanced Adjustable Recoil Pad Assembly" from MD Tac. ( mdttac.com/adjustable-prs.html ) It's pretty sweet too.
    Overall I agree completely with Sootch. When it comes to stocks for your AR styled rifle Magpul is the place to go!

    I just got the acs l stock, I'm digging the cheek weld. Not sure how I feel about the sling attachment sticking off to the side. So far a very solid stock

    Yes sir! I support magpul for taking that stand!. I did my best talking to local reps & even our senators to try & bring magpul & baretta to Wv but our tard Govner funked that up. Great vid & thanks for it. This helped me make my choice on whick is best for me

    Was looking into this as I have a stock Smith and Wesson M&P Sport II that I am adding small mods to here and there. This was really helpful, but seems like the MOE is similar to the out of the box adjustable stock by S&W so I'll wait to get something high end down the line. Thanks!

    Great review Sootch! Since you're doing review on stocks, do you think you can do a tutorial on Slings and how to wrap them on stocks? I have a hard time finding anything concrete or solid when it comes to sling adjustments, or how to use a sling effectively. Thanks a ton Sootch! 2A!
