      @@AutoSocialUK , well, you should know that your reviews have a real impact on your viewers. We just got our very own white Puma STLine X 125 HP MHEV today and it is AWESOME! The whole corona pandemic context helped us get a wild discount from the Ford dealer (they were trying to get rid of all vehicles in stock) and now we have an almost fully stocked sporty SUV that is gorgeous inside and out. So, like I said before, you hang in there and keep doing what you do, because you are doing it right.

      @@AutoSocialUK , if you want to know why your review partially influenced our choice to buy the Puma, I will tell you that it was because you were honest and said that you were a VW fanatic from the beginning and you still reviewed the Puma objectively. So, this is is not just hollow praise. Too many youtubers are biased...

      If you want a "2 months later update", here it is: A. The bad: some 10 days after we got a hold of it, our PUMA started behaving like it was posessed. More precisely, it would start the horn (or claxon, whatever you may wanna call it, I am Eastern European after all) randomly - during the day, at night, unlocked, locked, boot open, bonnet open.. First, Ford Garage didn't believe me. After it started honking like a banshee in their presence, the 5-6 mechanics present started behaving like chickens with their heads chopped off. They changed an entire computer module for nothing, the Poltergeisted Puma kept whaling like the ghost of a woman scorned, one that even Shakespeare's imagination coulnd't have conceived. Two weeks later (and at the suggestion of an outside mechanic), they fixed the rabbid felid (some idiot Ford worker had screwed up some cables and connectors, some crappy mistake that can ruin a carreer, a factory, a brand). Ford garage network professionalism? Negative. As in Below Zero. Ford Corp. customer post-sale relations? Are you shitting me? There is no such thing! Most annoying thing in this whole situation? This car is built in my country (Romania). I am a huge fan of the original Puma. I bought this new Puma as a fan, as an enthusiast. My own countrymen literally shat (is that the correct form of the verb?) on my loyalty to the brand and on my enthusiasm (it's my third Ford, the first one I bought brand new and also the first one that has ever disappointed me) . Other "2 months later" defects: 1. you can press on the headlights and they will press into the bonnett and lift it up and move the front side pannels to the sides! How in God's name is that 21st Century car workmanship? 2. the "PUMA" letters on the hatch can be blown away by water jets (lost one in the car wash, removed the other 3 with my finger so as to not look like an idiot driving a Ford "PU_A") 3. Rubber seals on the doors literally fall off the doors because they are not glued on, they are attached with plastic clips which... don't clip onto the doors. 4. If you leave one of the rear doors open and press on the "lock" button on the key fab, it locks the car... with the rear door open! And it doesn't warn you about it (even if you have the "Misslock chirrp" option activated)!; Same goes for the Ecosport, too and I bet for most current Fords, as the mechanich begrudgingly confirmed. 5. to be continued... B. The good: IT IS GORGEOUS, especially in white, it looks like a 50kEURO car; exceptional handling (as a former Fiesta owner, it is Fiesta-level handling or better, as it is wider and has wide 18 inch tires), it absolutely makes classic hatchbacks irrelevant; very good acceleration (the 125hp MHEV system compensates for any under-revving, it is comparably as fast as a 200bhp Skoda RS, which I know well, if you can nail the sweet-spot of the clutch), brakes are phenomenal, steering is super-precise, B&O sound system is a gem for the audiophile, Ford Pass is a very useful app, all options work great (lane assist, collision warning, etc.), the inside is a very comfortable and comforting place to be in, navigation is completely stupid-proof; seats are very supportive, yet you can fall asleep in them... C. Conclusion? Rumour has it that only cars meant for the Eastern European Market are shoddy and that the ones meant for the West are built more carefully. I hope it is so (even though it personally disappoints me), because I would hate for this rara avis to fail. It is truly the best, most advanced car ever built in my country (I know you Brits love the Duster, but it is garbage compared to the Puma) and I hope we wake up soon and maybe make this little SUV something we can be proud of. Long review, I know, but I think it is worth reading.

    Hi Tish, regarding the ride being a bit hard, I notice that the car you tested was fitted with 19 inch wheels. I have an ST- Line X with the standard 18 inch wheels, and find that the ride with these is very good. Also, dealers tend to supply cars with the tyres slightly over-inflated, which makes the ride noticeably harder. Good review, and good to see how the channel has grown since this was made 👍.

    Anyone watching this in the US or Canada , please contact Ford USA/Canada customer service and tell them we want this all-new Puma hatchback to launch in North America with 6-speed manual transmission as standard, and automatic as option. It is such a nicer vehicle than the EcoSport, which sadly doesn't offer a manual option. If we all contact Ford, they'll listen to their customers. Thank you for your help in this effort!

      @Rıck 17 I'm sorry to have to disagree with you, but just take a look at sales of the competitor's vehicles: Civic, Corolla, etc. They are still selling in good numbers (obviously not during this lockdown), but it proves that Americans are still buying small cars. It is a HUGE mistake to completely give up on that market share, especially when Ford's new generation are much improved and fix what was wrong with the previous generation dual-clutch powershift automatic. Plus, Ford has already done the Research and develeopment for the cars in Europe. All they have to do is bring them to the U.S./Canada market. Ford doesn't have to sell THE MOST small cars of any brand here, but they MUST exist in the market to have any share. And it's complete B.S. if someone states they don't make any money on selling small cars. Then how can Honda and Toyota afford to do so? I will continue to encourage people to tell Ford what their customers really want. How can we buy what isn't available?

    • @danielleroux6490
      @danielleroux6490 Před 4 lety

      @Rıck 17 Ford can leverage their 'One Ford' mantra better if they bring their best European engineered small cars to America, period. I don't see how the new Explorer would work for Europeans, it's simply too large of a vehicle to fit anywhere. You couldn't even park it or fit it in the driveway, it's huge! But there are still many instances where a small car is preferable in the US, such as in cities or for families that already own a larger vehicle. Now, can you see how small cars can work for Ford in America but not necessarily the other way around, with big cars being impractical in Europe?

    • @danielleroux6490
      @danielleroux6490 Před 4 lety

      To add to this viewpoint, the new Kuga is sold in America as the Escape, even though it's really the same vehicle except that Ford denies America the manual transmission option. This is considered a small crossover in the US. But it's a vehicle that fits in either market. So too can the Focus hatch, Puma, and possibly the Fiesta hatchback. If Ford's small cars are the best-in-class to drive, it is a CRIME not to sell them in their domestic market. It just forces would-be customers to buy the Honda or Toyota when the Ford is actually the better choice.

    • @danielleroux6490
      @danielleroux6490 Před 4 lety

      @Rıck 17 Honda's are not dated with vtech, did you not realize that almost all of Honda's engines are turbo now? And how can you criticize Honda who is the number one engine manufacturer in the world?

    We bought a titanium x first edition 125hp in metropolitan white last april. We're with two adults and our daughter, it's really nice car for smal families. (Not ideal for taller people).Decent quality, very nimble and sporty drive and we really like the mega box. It's great for carrying bigger and taller objects and very useful for going on short or longer trips. Only thing is that the smal 3 cilinder engine can be a bit noisy in town but stil a great ride but it's very good and calm drive on the highway. Al together we think it's a very nice car. If you don't care about a sporty or nimble driving car and you want a more comfortable ride then you're probably better of with a seat arona, vw t-roc or a Renault capture maybe or something. But it al comes down to everyone's own taste of cars 🙂

      Yes a lot of people have commented on it looking like a little Porsche, strange considering its not VAG. Yes the SEAT Arona is a great car but it is one of the oldest compact SUV's. I wouldn't worry about the engine, they've been running the eco-boosts with 145BHP for ages now and other than a run of a few dodgy ones (that you can still have put-right by Ford free of charge) They've been great. I have to agree with you, I am defiantly an Auto fan. Although they are usually more pricey. When I look to change to an SUV I think I will go for a manual. If I do go VW, unfortunately the Auto only comes in a 1.5L engine and the combination of the more pricey base price and running cost just wouldn't weigh up for me.

      @@AutoSocialUK its actually pretty nice, drives well and i found out a little feature. You actually are able to drive more or less fully electric when you are in gear driving at a constant speed like 50km/h then a small battery symbol pops up and your fuel consumtion is near 0.
      But pressing the accelerator even a little bit will consume fuel again and stop driving on electric because probably the electric engine little amount of power.

    It may have won the whatcar of year. But it already had a recall and halt in sales back in February due to airbag fault. It's still- Fix Or Repair Daily. Skoda kamiq offers more prestige and space for passengers and more reliable.

      Badge snobbery can only cover so much.
      Yes it had a recall but so has virtually every new car.
      And let's not start on figures being hidden by manufacturers about certain things.ford and vag group both have shady pasts.
      It's a great car.so in the time where the Skoda seat and vw rivals.
      Just accept it for what they are. There all good cars
      People need to stop thinking all the vag group has badge cache.
      Maybe Audi higher models ie a6 q7 upwards can claim that.defo Porsche and lambo and Bentley but the rest of the vag group are in non fashion people's eyes.ie the real world no better then the rest of the mainstream .
      As all the big players have strengths and weaknesses.why golf cars focus have been such great rivals.etc.
      Reason why ford and vw are now working together on certain projects and have in the past .
      Let's just be happy we have a great selection of good cars.not try and be so stuck in the past. Fix or repair daily.or Skoda are skips or seat are cheap Spanish old lass/fiats etc.
      Or vw with certain emissions hidden paper work or ford with the exploder .
      I've run both VW's including Audi's and fords.there both as reliable as each other.fords are more fun vw slightly better built but way more boring etc.driving looks etc.

      Reliability depends on how you look after a car.The older vw sourced 1.9tdis and 1.8t etc I agree with are far more reliable, but not the newer engines especially the vw 2.0 TDI .Ask any decent mechanics.

      @@edgimson5706in terms of reliability can't go wrong with Japanese. I've always had petrol and from experience I stay away from French cars. I've had a ford escort, ford fiesta st and another fiesta st. But couldn't stand their customer service, now I'm got a dad Mobil seat ateca Fr, the reason I needed plenty of rear passenger space for my daughters medical equipment as well as a decent boot.
