Great tutorial thanks alex.....btw we can also use a plugin called virtual sound stage to position the instruments of orchestra.
Thanks for mentioning that! I forgot to name it.
That plugin was actually the inspiration behind that trick, and can be used in any DAW I think.
Yes it works on all daws ! That company also provides demo of the pro version for free(settings won't be saved) people can try it and consider buying it if it feels worthy!
That's not entirely true, Cody. I use Virtual Sound Stage on some instruments, with mixed results. It does have an option to pre-listen, and auto-detect, which puts whichever sample you put though it to a centralised position on the soundstage. From this central position, then you can start moving it around the stage to wherever you want to place it. So it does actually allow for the fact that different libraries are pre-panned differently.
@@PaulCassidyOrchestrations It sounds like it gives you _more_ control. Who makes this plugin?
I have Logic Pro X, so the XY isn't really an option for me. I could rig something similar up in SmartTools but it would be a pain and it wouldn't have quite the same effect. Makes me nostalgic for the old day of Frooty Loops. I really might have to pick up FL20 soon.
*[EDIT]* I just checked out the company who made this plugin. Parallax Audio. It looks good. Worth a try, anyway. Looks like they offer a demo of the full Pro Version of the software, but you can't save your settings.
It's the only thing they sell, and it has a Lite and Pro version with an upgrade option to Pro. While the price isn't bad, I'm currently in the process of purchasing a new iMac to replace my dying MBP (notorious late-2011 model) _and_ I just blew money on Black Friday deals that I probably didn't _need._ So I can't really can't justify _another_ plugin right now. But maybe soon...

Yeah definitely give it a shot. Bear in mind it is not an actual reverb, it only gives you early reflections, so you will still need to add your own reverb tail. But it puts the intruments in a virtual space very well, with a combination of ER's and EQ cuts to control Z-depth as you move it around the stage. I only have the lite version and it is more than enough for my needs. I don't use it on percussion instruments as it gives a strange "slap-back" artifact effect that I don't like, but it works well on all other instruments. For percussion I use a great free plugin called Panagement.

This is in quite similar to VSS2, except it doesn't give you ER's so you'd have to add your own, but it controls Z-depth and panning superbly in a similar way that VSS2 does. The downside is the interface is very small so you have to take your time to get accurate results but it's one of the best freebies out there. I would give that a shot with your own reverb setup as well. Because if I'd discovered this before I bought VSS2, I probably would have gone with it and not paid out for VSS2. It's all down to your personal preference.
One more option worth trying is EAReveb2, which I also use. I think it's the same price as VSS2, but this one has a stage positioner AND also it's own reverb. It's like a poor man's MIR PRO, but it's still a great product worth trying, if you are considering stage positioning software. I thought I'd throw this one in the mix as one of my tracks is featured on their website using their stage positioning feaure. :P

Best of luck.
As soon as I saw that abstract art on the arrangement view I subbed, like this guy knows FL more than Image Line
The more I learn about FL Studio, the more I realize I don't know anything yet. Very cool.
I'm always blown away by your skill, knowledge, and willingness to share your knowledge! Thanks Alex!
After thorough testing, I found these values to perform quite realistic reverb:
dry: 0.9 - input * 0.5
wet: 0.35 + input * 0.25
My friend, you just answered a question I have had for the longest time. How to position the tracks and have full control over them throughout the song. I never would have thought of using XYZ, until now. This is a game changer for me since I would do everything manually by automating before.
Thank you!
Ive never seen a build like this.... Im impressed and curious... this is really something...
That's a brilliant tip Alex! That's a great use for the X-Y-Z plug, I've always wondered what it was for. And the fact that the whole setup is visual is a massive plus point! Thank you!
OMG another tutorial video! You complete me, Alex.
Your tutorial teach me a lot and now I finally can make my own music. Seriously these videos deserve more attention.
I learnt this from your other tutorial and this is so useful. I use it for other genres too it's very versatile
I was searching for this only whole day and you made my day Alex
Informative video, cheers from Germany
I realized this tool can be so OP, for example you could map Valhalla super massive and EQ to create instant pads from any sounds, bassy or noisy, wet or dry, I am going to make some cool stuff with that
Bro, you are awesome in FL
Melody out of this world
Great tutorial, Alex. I never really took advantage of the X-Y-Z Controller and I really should start using it.
Haha I'm suscribed to you too man xD
Thanks my brother for your help.
You are the best!! I love showing your work and yours tutorials ♥️♥️

Fantastic
Damn sir thanks, you helped me a lot :)
Man this is genius ! Thx !
should connect a low pass filter also to send it backwards in the mix. just to cut the highs a bit
Thank you! Been trying to find a way to do this for ages. This is super helpful! Thanks again :D
Finally.... ive struggled with this controller and how to map it to many vsts....tnx man :p
thanks for sharing this knowledge alex
Lovely 😊
You are the bext Alex, thanks so much!
Nice trick.
Another amazing tutorial ♥️
U are best! Thnx a lot for this, realy.
0:43 ahahaahahahahahaha his face. thanks for the great educational content man
Your newsletter template link is not working :(
Aswome Tricks ... thanks Alex
I love you man ❤️
I'm trying to use but I don't know why I'm my fl studio it's not working. Means when I'm trying to make it left or right sound is not panning in left or right
How can I make something similar to this work in Cubase? Is there a plug-in I can insert on my group tracks to control the 2 sends to the dry and wet ?
There is no subscribe button on the page you linked to. It looks like the link's broken: [chimpy_form forms="3"]
THIS IS HUGE
U can use Patcher to streamline
great stuff. what are the lines all over your playlist? thanks
Damn. This is going to help alot. It's going to help ease my mind since I can actually see it and I'm not trying to commit to memory. But I'd like to know if this works in FL studio mobile.
I tried to use the blank template that you sent out and when I opened it up, kontact wouldn't open a library, it will just permanently load with metropolis and with other plug ins it will load but not allow me to use them, as in no noise can be made. I contacted native instruments and they weren't sure what to do. Any idea what could be causing this? thanks for the great videos
legend :D
Do you have this soundtrack on live stream tutorial? Its fire
Hey, is there any chance to fix your page with orchestral template?
Great tutorial again! I'm just a bit confused...and not quite sure I'm doing it right.
You link your main instrument groups (like Strings) to the reverb but do you also link the subgroups (basses, cello's etc) by itself?
Dude looked like he was about to fall asleep at the beginning hahahahahaha
why not work for me ? :( keeping move the dot around and the sound Positioning not change
So if you're not using the Z, why not use Fruity X-Y Controller? Why do you use Fruity X-Y-Z?
Please bear in mind, if you use EastWest, the sound is already panned/positioned.
Please listen to what he says in the video :D
no more orchestral FL template?
I love you , love you so much , tks you so much , you are cute the best in the world
what are that vertical lines on pattern?
is there something like this for ableton?
you add me future

I don't want to die.
And no, I'm not sure, man. Sorry.
@@Evangelionism Hey J, nice seeing you here!
FL STUDIOO
I wish Reaper had this
Nice one. You sound so east european... 🤔🤔
I've simulated your steps, but it doesn't work. I don't know the reason.
Although my sound position controller is better, it generates delay depending on how far it is, your position controller is more useful.
look at this face while he moves the marker around at the very beginning
