Quick rough and ready DIY vid showing the replacement without removing the spider!

Very enjoyable to watch. I'm going to change the chainring as well because the factory one made the chain skipy. I don't know if it is intended or just a mediocre chainring. My bike is a Giant E-MTB with Yamaha Syncdrive Pro motor. When I hard start the bike at the highest gear, the pedal would go empty and my crotch will hit hard on the seat and bike makes a crappy sound like something skippy. The factory chainring is the cause, it's OEM without any label, the curve between each teeth looks a bit off the chart. But what is more surprising to me is that the chainring has no wear. The chain and the cassette has no wear as well. The chainring is like new after clean, no signs of wear. It seems super durable. Maybe Giant made the chainring and it was designed to skip chain to protect motor.
Thanks for the comment, have you checked your chain for stretch? Might be worth checking
@@ElectricCrotchRocket No, the chain is perfectly fine. KMC E10EPT the most durable chain on the market. It doesn't even stretch a single bit.
Mate, get a new bike before you completely break your nut sack
what size chainring bolts did you use? I have a SRAM X-SYNC2 I need to install.. Thanks
I used the standard bolts with UberBike retainers
What is the bolt size ? 6.5 ?
I have a 36t chainring with a levociraptor on my 2020 levo comp but was considering looking into making it a 2x up front and go back to the 32t for the primary gearing. Easier on the super steep climbs but then would have great to speed on roads. Have you looked into the conversion?
@@boblatkey7160 It may not be available to purchase, but it can be done.
@@boblatkey7160 perhaps a different cassette would be required to make it function properly, but statements like “you can’t do that” are simply amusing.
What were your thoughts when the 1x12 was introduced, hydraulic disk brakes, dropper seats, fuel injection, liquid cooling, inverted forks, air forks, carbon fiber frames and handlebars.
Let me guess, “can’t do that”
I've got the BBSO2B mid-drive on this bike but I olso have another fat tyre bbshd I only built the mountain bike because I had a spare 48v battery just sitting there
10nm torque setting for chainring bolts 👍
All torqued up 👍
I had to change everything as I went 3500 miles on original lol 😂 I'll change it more often from now as I climb 2000 ft up mountains on average each day 🤪🤪
Did you keep the original chain length when you increased teeth on the front?
Yes mate
Nice ! Strip your hardware to make it security nuts !
Now no one can get it off
I removed the crank arm bolt but the crank arm is still stuck on the bike?
Is this on a levo?
Not sure if I wanna go 34t or 36t. 2021 Turbo Levo Comp with the Veloceraptor on.
I’ve recently switched to a steel 34T from UberBike. No real loss in ‘top end’ but I’ve gained slightly better climbing now so it’s all good! 👍
@@ElectricCrotchRocket well that does it! Going 34t. Appreciate the advice!
Nice video, I wonder if 38 would physically fit. I have 34 and won't convert to 36 or 38. Does it have enough room to fit 38?
I believe it will but without the chain guard
Hi mate what is the 36T like when riding on the road I'm not bothered about top speed anyway 🤔
It’s better compared to 32T, even better if derestricted
@@ElectricCrotchRocket do you mean turn down the wotts
@@ElectricCrotchRocket its OK I've found the hack, thank you 👍🏾😄
Hey mate, did you a spacer or not?
No spacer no pal
@@ElectricCrotchRocket Ok thanks for replying bud. :-)
ist your motor still the first ?
Yeah still on original motor, why do you ask?
Electric Crotch Rocket
I’m on my first 1 also, everyone thinks that every Levo motor is pants..
Thank you for the video I’m looking at going to a 36 also..
Only one life I’m actually considering going down to a 34T for better climbing off road... 36T is great for on the road and 99% climbs i do. Just think the battery would thank me with the 34T ha
Thanks for the sub! You are my 99th 👍🤟
So after using x2 of these would you say they are good quality & worth buying?
Good quality and value however if you have an eBike they now do a steel version so will last even longer
@@ElectricCrotchRocket yh i have an Ebike im currently running the sram x sync 2 38T with the sram NX 12 speed cassette, I made the same mistake and left my chain to long so currently replacing the lot. Already got the chain and cassette, just need a new chainring ordering now.
@@BlazedReefer check out the steel chain ring from Uber 👍
@@ElectricCrotchRocket i will do, also looking at race face
Doesn't work with smaller chainrings though, e.g. 32t
KMC e-BIKE Chains will not stretch as quickly as either SRAM or SHIMANO do ... Ask the question on-line for verification.AU🙃
Pitty there double and even three times the price of a sram chain
