The CDC estimates that about 385,000 sharps-related injuries occur in hospitals among healthcare workers every year.
17 percent of all sharps related injuries are scalpel related according to a sharps study the CDC published. These injuries are costly to the personnel and the healthcare system and result in loss of productivity, increase in costs and paper work.
As a result, many employers have started providing devices with safety features which reduce healthcare professional’s exposure to sharps, and using devices with engineered sharps injury protection.

Our Safeshield Scalpels are individually packaged 10/box and come complete with a clear window for product selection and verification.
Each blade is sterile, Gamma-sterilized and ready for use immediately after opening.
These disposable safeshield scalpels are a similar weight as conventional disposable handles with an added ruler printed on the handle with both cm and mm markings.
Available in 6 sizes, these are color coded by size with the release tab on the protective shield coordinating with the packaging.
