Wow That UDI is Insane , it goes to show you that you dont need to spend $$$hundreds and hundreds on a car you just need to know how to drive as watching that drifting around the track was bonkers , im going to start participating as this looks like a heap of fun Phil , definitely want to check that UDI out thanks for another great video

That 124016 (and even the brushed 124018) is really just fantastic. Only thing I ever had to do was replace with some better front CVDs but it's pretty amazing. I think they've recently put out a new 124007 which is basically the 124017 with a splash paint sort of livery which carries over to the transmitter. Aside from that I didn't see anything different, so it's a shame they aren't actually making many new models (aside from the 1/18 model).
I have to agree about the WLToys, I have the brush version of the WLToys 124016 (124018) and is the toughest thing I ever had, it had fall, tumble real big at full speed, drove in sand, grass, mud and is still there working perfectly, not a single thing broke so far.

I have the udirc 1603 with brushless upgrade and it's my favorite rc to tear up. Might have to grab the other one. Great content!

Couldn't agree more. Have had my original SG-1603 for nearly 2 years now. Did the brushless upgrade which means several sets of tyres purchased but that's about it.
My 124016 is the V1 as got it early 🤦♂️but fitted a Surpass hobby esc after a bit of refund from Banggood and paired it with my GT5 controller. Still cogs a bit but manageable. Epic fun on the beaches this year!

I have the 124018 which is brilliant, only down side to it is the hassle of dismantling the body to get to part underneath to change or service.
My only gripe though.
The brushed is plenty fast enough off road, in fact fast enough for me on road.
Needs new tyres to run well off road.
The 124016 has to be my favourite simply for what it does straight out of the box . Watched the sand paddle beach vid plenty of times lol . Still haven't picked one up yet 🤪

Agreed! And if you do FPV (like I do) a bigger car has much more space for safely stuffing the electronics!
pulled the trigger on the 124016 from banggood for 156 with 2 batteries. came in 3 days to Seattle area. Bought it to keep up with my sons revo 1/16 and not run him over on my 1/8 kraton. what a BLAST. easily the best RC for the money. seems to be about the same size as the revo, despite being a 1/12. Picked up some 3s batteries as well before i tried it, and wish i hadnt, it does NOT need to be any faster. Also, buy spare front bumpers! it breaks easily with impacts.
I love what you do. You have opened my mind to a whole different world of RC. I seriously want every RC you put on your videos that you're positive about. But have u ran this new one that a lot of people are talking about? The am-x12 rlaarlo? Cause it's between that or the buggy in your video
I bought both of them and was amazed by the buggy. The Mini is really not enjoyable "from the box" as the trigger is not precise at all and the gyro too intrusive. Keep on doing amazing videos and tests, thanks for the fun and advises.
I think my favourite car you've shown me this year has been the little Kei car. I bought one and it's been great, my ~15 month old nephew loves it. It has taken a heap of abuse from him and it;s still going fine.

I just went brushless with my 124018 and it's one of my favorite off-roaders.the only thing it could use is a slipper-clutch.
I used LC Racing parts and turned my 124018 into their truggy just to get away from the ridiculous number of screws, along with 2 shocks that need to come off to work on it. Getting the battery in and out is also a PITA. Depending on your driving style, an LC Racing front bumper is nice as well.
Perhaps it's a genuine miracle, but mine is still running all stock electronics. That being said, the range is nothing to write home about.
My take is to spend just a little more and buy the LC Racing version the WLToys ones are copied from.

Reluctant as I am to appear to be a gushing fan boy, I wish I could drift like you, Phil. Well, I can, briefly, sometimes, but other days I'm rubbish, especially if I've got the camera set up.
I have a predecessor of this. Looks very similar. Also AliExpress. Marauder or something. I put in a 3s battery. It now does a backflip from standstill. It's mental. Suspension is a bit soft tho
Something about the bug reminds me of the old Turbo Tricksters from the 80s

the Desert Buggy with the brushless setup is crazy fast and the brushed version drove extremely well on dirt. The Beetle looks like a lot fun. How well do the stock tires hold up?
I'm glad you're recommending brushed for control, but did you ever try putting 3s lipo to the stock setup? I have the eachine eat15 (same as sg160x) and after realizing an esc upgrade ment swapping all electronics, I decided to put an 680mah 3s lipo on and crossed my fingers. It Works! I bought a second eat15 and hacked together a 3s lion from the stock packs, and drifted at much higher speeds for about 15 minutes with just slightly higher motor temperature.
I would love for you to test this more, and show your audience the results and or a top speed run! I'm sure this increases the failure rate of these electronics, but if the alternative is replacing everything anyway let'em burn! Full disclosure I've logged an hour of run time on 3s between my 2 cars, but they still work great, lights and all!

I've got all the brushless wltoys (except the big white green one), but UDIRC is hard to find in my country. I could only get the 1603 pro (brushless) for the UDIRC
My brother has that wltoys the wing mount is weak but he bought it bc I sent him that video to watch and he bought it i was initially trying to talk him into the 017v2 but he liked tlthe desert racer better
How's that Wltoys holding up mechanically? Had some pretty weak ones especially when converted to brushless. Since this one comes fast out of the box I was curious how the parts are holding up.

The Brushed one is much smoother to drive. Even in stock form
Neat collection you have there. I have one too. Udirc UD1601. Sadly my remote control broke. The throttle is out. So yeah.. i lost my mind, where can i find the remote control for it? Yeah right..and in less than 2 years you will have a useless rc car as you will not be able to find any spare part...
Beware..this is my opinion from my experience ( go find front axles for the sg160x..good luck)
