The more I watch the build up the more excited I get. I thoroughly enjoyed the intense staredown on Johnny Nelson's The gloves are off. It was very serious but also funny at times.

Peter Fury is salt of the earth and a massively underrated trainer he's one of the best in the world!!! Tyson has a lot to thank his Uncle Peter even though he won't say it he learnt everything he knows from Peter all his current trainers do is work on fitness and specific game plans

Because women boxing is not respected like the WNBA with most of the athletes not being on par with the men and the quality of the product is bad… BUT Clarissa has brought eyes and recognition to the sport! And has given it the spotlight it deserves
She has but not as much as taylor has thats a fact..way more high profile fights than shields..as for leaving a legacy she got womens boxing put in the olympics its because off her and she headlined with serrano the first women to headline at the garden also the highest ppv for womens fights and clarissa only gets the money she gets now because off talor ..thats legacy ....

The analysis for this fight has been something.Almost everyone has this fight as boxer vs puncher but in reality as that small tidbit of there amateur bout shows this is really a boxer vs boxer/puncher matchup .

I just get the sense that Shields allows her emotions to get the better of her. I expect her to be very aggressive and her biggest strong point in this fight is her speed so I think we will see a quick start from her. If Savannah can weather the early storm, figure Shields out and find her rhythm, then I think she’ll do what she said she’d do, and outbox her.
Despite Claressa's fiery demeanor, she typically fights intelligent and with pace. I think she will come in calm and outbox her. Don't forget the Hammer build up and fight.

Marshall didn’t want to fight her for 2-3 years after Clarissa called her out and Shields went to train and fight in MMA to test herself because there was no one willing and capable to bring it…
Anything can happen BUT only father time and the judges can beat shields in this fight

I'm interested in two things really, how Marshall takes a solid combination from Shields (whether she fights through the punches to catch Shields or moves or just covers up) and how Shields takes a solid punch (or more) from Marshall. I reckon an undisciplined Shields will fly into a rock solid punch from Marshall and may get stopped on her feet (and then complain bitterly about a dodgy early stoppage)

Shields busy walking down memory lane thinking about the amateurs. Savannah is a whole different fighter now and Shields may find that out the hard way next weekend. Looking forward to this one even more than I was looking forward to Taylor v Serrano.

Let's be real, Marshall has the capacity to KO Shields, but she is a good 30 or 50% slower.
I wouldn't fancy a bet either way if I'm honest.

I was hyped for Serrano vs Taylor and that was a banger. Taylor was a bit better boxer but Serrano hurt her more. If Serrano had the stamina to keep that pace up she would have won easily though.

When it comes to this fight I see most people saying it's going to be an easy fight for whoever they are rooting for but really this is the toughest fight either has had up until this point I'm personally going for Savannah to win by round 6 or 7 I think a lot of people underestimate her boxing ability but either way it will be a very interesting fight and both are incredible hopefully this gets more people interested in women's boxing the same way Taylor vs Serrano did.

I SAW THAT FIGHT IN 2012 AND SHIELDS WAS ALL OVER HER. Some of you folks want to comment about what she says without looking at all of the facts. Understand where Claressa comes from. She was abused as a kid and had to deal with poverty, and the tough streets of Flint, Michigan. You HAVE to be strong, you HAVE to be confident, you HAVE to keep hand skills. Growing up in Flint is hard enough as it is. She turned professional and it seemed the entire boxing world is against her. I don't blame her for standing her ground with a chip on her shoulder. People want to down her for talking, but they are the same ones that give fighters like Tyson Fury and Conor McGregor a pass. Help make that make sense. Shields is going to put an end to this noise.

A factor that I haven't seen much discussed, which could be crucial, is this: how will each last the pace that the other will set, going into the later rounds?
Some have said that the later rounds will favour Shields, given that she has experience of them in most of her fights whereas Marshall has only gone beyond round 5 in 2 of her 12 fights... Surely the later rounds will be unfamiliar, uncertain territory for Marshall, a question mark over her stamina?
I suspect, on the contrary, the later rounds will favour Marshall. Firstly, the fact that she gets most of her opponents out of there so early says nothing about her stamina. In the fight that did go the full ten, against Orozco, she looked fine. (and was still powerful in the 7th against Rankin). Her exceptionally calm, relaxed style, the way she relaxes between heavy punching will serve her well. She has obviously trained for a hard 10 rounds. Most of Shields' opponents seem pretty full of energy in the last round- as Marshall colourfully put it, Kozin skipped out of the ring at the end and was in the nightclub a couple of hours later. Shields dominates her opponents but doesn't severely degrade them. Surely Marshall will be even less affected than a typical Shields opponent.
And how will Shields fare in the later rounds? I notice in the later rounds of most of her fights, Shields mouth is often wide open, she often stands still posing and showboating (presumably to recuperate after her flurries), and rather huffs and puffs to victory. And this is against opponents who offer very little, who cannot punch, who are often just trying to see out the fight. Against Marshall's intense ramping-up pressure, and power like Shields has never faced, I can see Shields gassing badly.
Women don’t fight 12 rounds. They fight 10. 2 minute rounds. Gassing will be less common
@@dubtee7656 not really the pace is quicker and some women out there get tired from the pace so would the men the pace is completely different there's no lul in the middle rounds you see with men when the 2 guys take a little breather they shouldn't but they do if they didn't there'd be more knock outs the women with 2 min rounds don't get that lul it's all go every round
Clarissa's bodywork is going to nullify any potential "ramping up" in pressure by Marshall. You speak as if Marshall's previous opponents are on Shields' level, or as if Clarissa is just going to stand there and allow Marshall to knock her out. Marshall is too slow to land the shots that she needs to land to hurt Shields. Shields is going to dominate her. After about 3 rounds it's going to look like sparring.

I didn’t know who Marshall was until this fight was announced. Just to show you Claressa she’s a superstar and a great champion at her age including doing mma. I really want to see that amateur footage. After watching Marshall highlights. It’s hard not to pick her win. Marshall got the size, reach, patient, awkward style, always changing ankles, and she’s a body snatcher. Claressa gets too wild in the exchanges and that bad bad for business fighting a counter puncher like Marshall who has power and accuracy in shot selection. Marshall mentioned she wants to retire early and she’s already 31y while shields 27y. For the sake of women boxing and progression to mainstream I want Claressa to win she’s outspoken and promotes the fight well also she has two Olympic gold. However skill to skill as a fighting purist I can see Marshall knocking her out in later rounds. This fight ain’t going to the judge decision. As they say "style make fights".

I think the question is of course, can Marshall deal with Claressa's speed? I think that by fight time Marshall will be used to dealing with speed and although Claressa's speed will at times pose a problem and give her moments of success, overall Savannah will deal with that speed and connect with her own shots and it is highly doubtful if Claressa can take that kind of power for very many shots. I think Savannah stops her or at least knocks her down and gets a decision because of the knockdown(s).

With respect personally I don’t like to see women fight, I feel uncomfortable watching it. It’s probably an age thing, that’s all I can pin it on really. But, I’ve followed Marshall for some time now and there is something very special about her as a fighter and person, I enjoy watching her and listening to her talk. Peter Fury is absolute quality and great trainer. I’m so looking forward to this fight and I’m sure it’s going to be a great scrap. Marshall has a bang and when that’s in the mix, get ready! I backing her for the knockout. This fight is better than some of the dross that we suffered last weekend! Massive respect to both fighters.
