Just a note: In the video, he didn't put the round pieces in the "belly" of the whale. If you follow the plans, you should drill a 2" hole in the walnut body and you should drill the maple 2 1/4" with a hole saw. If you drill them both 2", the maple will be too small. The issue is that you have to allow for the thickness of the hole saw. I also had to cut away a portion of the waste material to get the maple seated in the holes correctly. essentially I just left the top third of the hole in the walnut. It's not a big deal, but if you don't have all the hole saws it could be frustrating. Also, by time you drill all the holes you'll need to tape a new pattern over the wood to accurately follow the lines of the plan. Again, not a big deal. The plans were less than half the cost of a cup of coffee. cheers. T.

Hey Brian, good video. You're getting a lot of burn marks with your router. Try routing 90% in one pass and then the last 10% and it should have less burn marks!

Is the walrus oil/wax considered baby safe? Want to make one and if it ends up in the mouth (which it will) I want to be sure. Thanks for the video!

I love this rattle. Your work is superb. Wish I could take your woodworking courses. What type and size of router are you using to do the edges?

Thanks! I’m using a trim router and I use a round over bit that is slightly less than half of the thickness. That way, we get almost a fully round edge!

Both are Cody Francis songs. The first is "Western Call", and the second is "I Remember Well". I hope this helps - thanks for the question!

Thanks for the feedback Dovydas Kazlauskas. I wonder why you think it's too big?
