- Andrew's LC Torana goes to the drags, and there's been a fair bit of speculation on just how quick a car with 302rwhp will go and as it turns out, with the throttle response of that Harrop blower it's very quick.

A V8 in a LC or LJ is such a fantastic thing. Congratulations to anyone who has ever done this. Many years ago a mate had a 350 in his LJ. What an awesome car that was. Love your LC mate. Bringing a tear to the eye.
Mate had an LJ with tunnel ram 350 in it in Arrarat ,Victoria about 40 years ago.Sticking a 308 in the LC/LJ was common back when I was 17/18 years old.Other mate had 308 in LC that was killed in it,the LC had the LH/LX bolt on flares & looked tough as.
Still wonder what ever happened to it.
It was a weapon in a straight line!

Good to see Liam still has the vl I remember seeing a lot of it in my early teens when all I read was street commodores. I do believe somewhere in that magazine your torana popped up to. I think it was pink if all the beers haven't killed to many brain cells. Killa series broads looking forward to what's next for the mighty 5 oh.

I think it's good that they've moved with the times. Most of stuff they do on carnage is completely doable for the average guy budget wise.
Not everyone can drop a lazy 150k on what is essentially a toy. For a few grand that Barina would put just as much of a smile on your face as anything. The best part is if you break it who cares.

that's a lot better result than I expected from a stock engine with a supercharger. My VH Commodore has just over 300rwhp from a NA 5L, 5 speed manual. Will be interesting to see how it compares being a heavier car and naturally aspirated power. I realistically only expect maybe a 12.7 which I'd be happy with.
Great to see you guys doing things with the old Holden V8. I love these engines, but everything these days seems to be about the LS. No problems with the LS, but everyone has been there and done that with a LS. Refreshing to breathe some new life into these old girls (Y)
Thanks mate, we were really impressed too. If you assume a drivetrain loss of 20%, the engine is making 360hp at the crank. At 2950lbs on the Moroso power speed calculator, the car should be going 11.3@116. So obviously the MPW dyno is on the money and the car is working really well, but there's a tenth to be had by sharpening up my shifts. But the way that Harrop blower makes power is incredible. It's so responsive and so much fun to drive on the street!
@@andrewbroadley1851 I didn't get a good view of the dyno sheet, to see the power curve and torque. But I'm figuring from that sort of performance, it would be a nice steady power and torque curves which would also help a lot. The way it lifted the wheel off the line, it must be punching good numbers down low.

1.46 sixty foot & 118mph on a 225 street radial, in a full weight Hz naturally aspirated, single Holley carb, stock 4" bore Block, stock Rods, through twin 2.5" exhaust to the rear bumper. No turbo, No blower, No nitrous.
raised rear hood would help with airflow threw the bay

I want my LC Torana back that I had at around 21.
186S Yella Terra Head, full race cam (3 down from the absolute top) triple SU's, and 2.5" from genie extractors out.
Plus with some tight LSD Diff, steel crank, and 3 on the floor (tried 4 speed, hated it).
Sorry it sounds so 80's (no fuel injection etc). But it was FUN and loud on every Saturday night.
Full roll cage, but no sound proofing at all, so when inside it was all motor and tyre burning noise :)
I really enjoyed watching you there that night. I was on my bike but should have come over to say hi. Good work and great times for such 'modest' power.

This isn't be a smart Alec. It would be preference for any drag racer here, to have a mate who had a factory and some land to just tweak everything. Because otherwise, just making mistakes after spending so much time setting it all up, deflated hey.

great dyno tune on a stock engine, killer idle, tuner knows his stuff LOL, my x girlfriends xu1 in the 70s ran 13.3s at 104mph with a 202 na, no much has changed in 35 odd years LOL

yup the fight is real well done man its a beast i think you can do with 300hp 10s it should be good for 125-130 mph out the back maybe a power-glide im all for the manual its all about breathing ????? lol cant wait to see ya times drop thx and we coming to summer-nats see ya there
Putting a glide in it will make in not very enjoyable for street driving

Hey Broads I think I was at wsid for the last run of this... was it the gmh torana Wednesday drag night when you were writing for just Holden mag? I was racing my torana for the first time that night!
Yeah mate that would have been it! I’ve done some country eighth mile racing since, but that’s about it. It’s been out of action for five years or so now.
With a small cam ported heads and a trans brake and maybe a little bit of suspension dialled in you'll have a consistent 10 second car
Not sure it needs a transbrake with the instant throttle response but yeah a cam and springs and maybe a diff ratio change will put in into the tens

Pete Cotter Harrop offer the 2300 and the bigger 2650 to suit Holden V8. Not sure if they could do you a kit with the 1900, but I reckon that would be ample for a stock 5L like this. That being said, I’d like to chase more power with a 355 down the track, so I think a 2300 was the right choice for me.

It can make alot more power but the engine wouldn't be able to handle it. With a stronger bottom end it'll go alot quicker
Yep! Same blower has made over 800hp on pump fuel on a built 355.

Paul North Borg Warner, mate. 3.9s, but they’re probably too short for a 26in tyre. It’s spending a fair bit of the pass in overdrive (4L60 trans).
Should be at least 380 "US" rwhp to run 11.4/116 even with 2700 lbs car. :D
Is the engine totally stock?
APS Allpartsolutions completely stock. I bought it on Facebook marketplace for $500. We’ve had the sump, rocker covers and obviously intake off it, and it’s all stock.
Mate we got a xu1 179 stroker with a Ford crank 221 pushed it to a 235 triple Webber's and still did 9s should have left the six in v8s don't work.

GRPABT1 you could probably build an aspo engine that’d run the same times for similar money, but I know what I’d rather. Lots more room for further development this way too.
