      @@GrabbaBeer rare but I've seen it once in a while. happened more when soldiers torched siege, sometimes you'd see a spearman throw a torch at another unit or something. the distance made it super weird, though.

    In the second battle, undertaker micro a bit and prioritized the yumi archer first. That caused a difference. And of coz, a few more MAA helped.

    1:59 watching this content late, but I wondered why the TC updates for Japanese are not lock behind age up, say like: 1st update in dark age, second in feudal, third in castle. So you prevent from crazy things in feudal. Or maybe that’s the case already? Don’t know this civ well!

    Man, another game that ends with mass archers just walking in and camping someone's production because they haven't built any walls or defensive outposts protecting them. IMO one of the benefits of yumi ashigaru is that they're the cheapest military unit that can fill a slot in an outpost, and as long as they're doing that then their bad stats don't matter. They also can match the range of longbows and fight them cost-effectively if they're standing on stone walls, and they have higher move speed, so what they need to do is go out and raid while avoiding getting caught by the slow English army, and man defenses if the English go for your base instead of chasing you. The English should be penned in their base that way even if they have a stronger army. If you go head on at them, you're throwing your main advantage away.
    Also I'd point out that yumi ashigaru run at the same speed as shinobi, they are made to complement each other, nothing that most civs can make in Feudal can catch them except horsemen and shinobi counter horsemen well, and shinobi sneaking in and disabling production on the Council Hall would mess up the English's day.

    It's a big mistake to take your foot off the accelerator after you win a feudal fight against an opponent that has more eco than you.

      You could always go Yumi +Horsemen, although yeah English just has to pepega with an army wide A move to play, while you got to micro

      go fast castle at 6:10, build one stable and place the Yorishiro inside the stable, get all relics and attack English base, GG. You would need 17 on food and 10 on gold to make vils and mounted samurai none stop. (This is only if they go 2tc)

    the nerfs on byz were kinda deserved. at least on the landmark.. but they should of buffed smth else while doing these nerfs. cuz earlier byz would spam the ability every fight.. even twice in a fight which was dumb imo.

      And they could cap on points to use the ability again every fight. Nerf for the ability was deserved but it has been the only thing working for them. I'm hoping for a decent follow up patch after people have spent time on them and used some other strategies

      on the other hand now byz has 1 useless landmark, and one stable as landmark (maybe they should of only done the 30 to 10 stacks and leave the other nerf 1.5 seconds ) I think the useless landmark that works as a monastery and buff on ONE berry will be better rn. Rush on neutral trade post at age 2 and get some units to harash from that oil I dont think its viable to even play the other landmark anymore lol . @@TheFlazMan I think the only viable move for byz is 2 TC fast castle . they have nothing for them feudal anymore

      Yeah kinda disappointed nerf might have gone a bit harsh for that single land mark. Having a small group of horses to harass early was fun. I agree with you though. Get to the later ages and the faction really does come online. Just can be a struggle to keep up early for byz

      I’m pretty sure the devs are on the thought that some people have which is that the civ still needs to cook and is only going to be consistently good at high level potentially.

      The changes to the flowing gate are fine. The only change I would say that need a change is make it so that the yorishio rotate base on cap rather than deleting the entire build. You put 4 yorishio down. Then the 5th one would delete the first yorishio you put down. That way you can rotate it out of the TC into the forge or a siege camp. Other than that the Japanese changes are fine. The whole patch seems lacking I think people are over reacting to it cuz the DLC is not even out for a month. People need to calm the fk down.

    i think longbowmen arrows should travel 2x as fast before hitting their target, and have 1 more extra range, or some speed increase to running, to make up for all the ranged meta evolving more op to english.
    i really like hope they play with the micro stakes ability and campfire, wish more troops had those civ-bound abilities. Also wish there were 2x as many landmarks for each civ each age up to choose from for more strategic wildcards rather than minmaxing the meta.

      The arrows travelling twice as fast would make almost no difference (unless the unit they were attacking was able to get an attack off in the milliseconds that you would save). I don't think English longbows need a buff at all, they are very strong, proven by how integral they are to a lot of Byzantine strategies. English are quite well balanced and have good win rates, I don't think they need a change

    Floating gate is still great, the speed increase is very good and the rally point makes it easier to use, plus it’s technically producing 4 religious units for free, I think the best thing to do with it is to throw it inside rax or stables for a timing push or defense

      You should probably put it into your first Siege Workshop, this way you get 600 Wood of production for free instantly. With Rax/Stables/Range you only get half of it. Siege units also usually take long to produce, so with the triple speed from spending resources to having a siege unit on the frontline, it will cut away over 20s.

      I don't like the fact that once its place you to destroy the building if you want it somewhere else and that the landmark is offline after 8min

      @@The_savvy_Lynxyou aren’t constantly producing siege though, it’s situational. You aren’t getting the extra wood value for production if you wouldn’t normally going 3 siege workshops at that time.
