- The original colonial middle portion of this mansion was built in the late 1700s, this massive home sits abandoned on 45 acres of old horse farm land. The original part of the home still exists. As you will see it is the kitchen area in the middle of this home with the massive brick fire place. (Although this place has about 10 or more fireplaces, I lost count) Most of the main mansion additions of this home were built on in the 1850s. The barn is original though.

The last known owner of this home lived on the property for many years. When she grew old, she spent her life in the kitchen area of the house while her grandkids would come by to take care of her. Sadly when she passed away, so did the house. Her grandkids continued to live in the home for a short time afterward but ended up deciding it was time to sell. Sadly the house and the land was put on the market in 2007 for 4.5 Million US Dollars! 2007-2008 was the worst time for the housing market though. And One reason why so many of these old colonial style homes ended up vacant due to the cost of upkeep and repair. Sadly this place is up for demolition and has most likely started already. It's truly a shame

Rip to the Lady who owned this Beautiful Mansion! Its a SHAME to let this place be abandoned like that!!!
I hope whoever demolishes this place will at least reclaim some of the amazing architectural parts like the wood trim the glass, mantles, even the stair railing. It makes me so sad to see all the things that people leave behind. Especially books. If I were going through these houses I’d want to take out some of the stuff just to save it.
That property might have sold had they even bothered to clean it out and clean the buildings up. Someone just wanted her money but did not want to waste any time trying to earn it. That was a beautiful home at one time but was lost due to neglect by the inheriting owners.
The huge fireplace in the kitchen was used for hot water, cooking, heating a iron for clothes, iron for hair, etc. Basement fireplace was most likely used for tools, making soap, candles; etc. They used the other fireplaces in each room for heating, as their wasn’t electricity back in the 1700/1800’s. They definitely had $$ as it would have taken a lot of staff to keep up with the property and house. Really liked this video! 🙂
Those huge fireplaces were probably for roasting and the round ones in the sides for baking. So grateful for modern inventions. It is nice they were preserved. The big old fireplaces and the the claw foot tubs are nice to see. This was a fun explore.
Lovely pool at one time probably with manicured lawns and lovely gardens surrounded by shade trees and bird songs.
Love the bannisters and those recessed windows too. Amazing the drapes still exist. In its time, kitchen update was top notch. The built in matching refrigerator would have cost some $. I’m surprised at what good condition this is in. I used to work in real estate and enjoyed touring the older homes for their interest and beauty. They can be like walking into time capsules. How fun.

Sad place indeed. It is amazing the power is still on. It always amazes me how family leaves behind old photos. Need to be passed on or at least stored just in case future family would like to have the photos. Thanks for the Video

Jacky Hawkins I think they are new because of the matching fridge. That is a new thing and quite expensive. They do look solid though, so I would not be surprised if a real carpenter built of solid wood like they would have in the past.

What an interesting explore! I can't believe someone doesn't want to restore this beautiful home-the fact that it goes back to the 1700s is freaking incredible-and I think if someone had the money to do it, this house would be freaking *grand.* I also wanted to comment on your surprise at the size of the basement fireplace. Very old houses, like this one, had those huge fireplaces in the basement to heat the whole house. Just in case you didn't know.

This is laid out almost exactly like my childhood friend's mansion, only he did not have a pool and only had about 3 or 4 acres as the rest of the estate lands had been sold off years prior. Also Philadelphia suburbs. As a kid, I remember sleepovers at that place were awesome as we could have the run of practically the ENTIRE house and property and not worry about waking his parents. It was nuts.

The house is amazing and it's extremely sad that it's been allowed to get into the state. This is clearly a very solidly and well built house unlike the modern houses constructed of nothing but a bit of plywood!

I've watched a lot of these videos from a lot of different explorers, and it seems like every house over 2000 sq ft is a "mansion" that was owned by "millionaires". Fact is, people had large families back in the day so houses were bigger. And often times homes would be added on to as the family grew. Another reason to add on rooms is to give the "old folks" a place to stay as opposed to a rest home.Houses often stayed in the family for generations, especially if it was on a large parcel of land. In other words, big doesn't equal "mansion".
At the time this house was being built, a "Mansion" was considered a self-sustaining abode. The English word manse originally defined a property large enough for the parish priest to maintain himself. Manor comes from the same root-territorial holdings granted to a lord who would "remain" there and does not have anything to do with a persons worth or income. It is more to do with sustainability and independent income. The 45 working acres alone would qualify this home as a mansion. The title of this video is accurate so what's the issue?

Billie Taylor gasp! My thoughts exactly. It's all a money thing. They act like they MUST have every cent each month.. yet I've seen a handful of these abandon houses w power still in them. Forgive my language but it's real horseshit the way power companies abuse Citizens. Just saying.
So,so sad to see such an old beautiful home go to waste. I would so love to know the history of this place. Why did the family leave and where are they now? Can you imagine what this place would look like if fixed up? A couple families should go together and invest in restoring it. Thank you for the exploration.

Just a note of say all the houses of that era that I'm aware of around my area had kitchens originally detached from the house because of the fear of fire. Also, taxes on this property have to be astronomical. There's more to upkeep than just the house and grounds. There is someone who cares enough to keep the electricity on maybe to preserve the pipes and keep the home from falling into further disrepair. Just because the older generations had money doesn't mean the later generations do. Desire to keep and maintain simply doesn't pay the bills. It could go on the historic register, a museum or just some wealthy family able to maintain it. I don't think it's fair to just blast this generation of the family. There just isn't enough information.
After reading about a hundred comments someone asked to know where it was and it was replied by it's been demolished the saddest of all the comments so sad I feel like crying the 1700 area of that house was absolutely gorgeous the walls are like a foot thick because you can see the window seals and the depth of the window frames that part of the house should have been preserved so sorry you were torn down you beautiful old homestead...

Kappy this house was full of ghostly voices clear to the end it was amazing, the voices was of a young woman. Unless you brought a lady friend with you. And around 9:38 or so you could see the movies move just a little to the right. I watched it several times and it amazed me. You should go back and listen carefully and watch those movies. You probably should go back and do a few evp and see if they are intelligent or residual. It would be worth it. It was a great video and I love looking at all those fireplaces. Thanks Kappy!

That is a beautiful old house! I wish I could fix it up for myself! Why did they let all of that beautiful old furniture get ruined!! Beautiful staircase!! This place has a beautiful lay out even if it does have old parts and new parts. I would love to have the money to fix this up, to me, it would be worth it! Peace and Love, Kim ~
I love it. A blending of the old and the new. I grew up in a Cambridge house built in the 1840s that was split and tacked onto a Federal style house. Ours was on a much smaller scale. There was in the Federal style a kitchen in the basement.

That's the one thing that drives me crazy about watching these sorts of videos--seeing all the items left behind that could have been useful, had they been collected before the mold & moisture took over and ruined them (broke my heart seeing that 50s/60's era mint green coloured sink!). Such a waste. Towns and cities should have some sort of rule that if a building gets recently abandoned, it can be cleared out within a couple of weeks, so that the items could be donated (eg. to women's shelters, homeless shelters, young people just starting out on their own who can't afford expensive furniture, habitat for humanity). The community could even throw a "yard sale" of all the items and put the money towards organizations like that, instead of just letting things sit there to rot. At the very least, if items were cleared out of abandoned homes sooner, stuff could at least be recycled!

This was so cool to watch, i enjoyed it very much, i would love to do this myself someday! I live in northern Ontario, we do have a lot of abandoned old homesteads and abandoned mining towns, u just have to locate them.

That house is gorgeous! I just wanted to say that the first room of the house, I believe, is just a "foyer." I think u called it a living room. I could be wrong tho. I think it was just meant to greet people at the door.

It's so amazing to see these homes and to hear the history of these homes it's too bad they've been abandoned for so long. AND it's awful that people go in these old historic homes that are abandoned and write graffiti all over the homes walls and doors
