- Star was premiered on April 22, 2022, Composed by Joseph Newton
Star was written as a challenge to create one blended instrument out of two marimbas. Most of the piece sounds as one whole melody, but is actually split between the two marimbas. This challenge leads to excitement, and is an excellent exercise for all duets.
Marimba 1: Dylan Hickey
Marimba 2: Joey Fiumano
My friend and I played this for our ensemble performance! We got the highest ranking, superior. Thank you for this beautiful piece! We had so much fun playing it :-)
So glad you enjoyed this piece. It was written with one thing in mind: fun! More music to come in the percussion world, and I hope you get a chance to check it out once it does.
Impressive as hell! Splitting that long consistently is hard, you can see the concentration. Absolutely amazing!
Glad you enjoyed. They worked hard to nail that, but something about their musical connection truly made it special.
is there sheet music of this available anywhere?
I am working on creating a website for my music. The sheet music is available now. If you'd like to purchase I can give you my email!

I know this was quite awhile ago but I tried going on your website to search for the sheet music to this, it just doesn’t seem to be there though🥲
Hi there! I've been doing some renovating to my website today. Reach out to me and I can get you the piece. :)
@@josephnewton9075 Awesome! Is there maybe an email I can use to contact you or maybe an email I can give you for the music? It’s for a concert band duet lol!
I've also been working on a rewrite of the piece, and if you're interested I'd be happy to have you premiere it.
@@josephnewton9075 Maybe I could take a look at it? Is the rewrite just as long?
