  • It's becoming widely known and understood that those blue frequency lights coming off your screens are bad for your eyes and your sleep cycle. Hopefully you already know that! But what to do about it? You can use something like Night Shade or Night Shift on your computer, but they make everything orange. Not optimal. Instead Ocushield offers a lineup of anti-blue light screen protectors for devices ranging from your smartphone to your tablet, laptop to work monitor.
    Tech expert Dave Taylor of www.AskDaveTaylor.com/ got the Ocushield anti-blue light screen protector and privacy shield for his MacBook Pro. The installation had a bit of a hitch (to say the least) but you'll definitely be able to learn a lot about the Ocushield solution herein!

    Very helpful video thank you
    Going to try it out and order some for my brother. He's never wore glasses so I figure this would be a better start

    Great explanation for installation, thank you! The Ocushield instruction video was far too fast.

    After I altered my iPad settings, I couldn’t see any difference between mine and my wife’s iPad. She has the Ocushield screen successfully installed by me but trying to install one on my own iPad was a disaster! They were a birthday pressie from my wife to us both so I tried my best. I already had a shield on my iPad that had a little chip at one corner of the shield. But I thought I’d put it on anyway. The first one broke right away far too easily despite me being careful. We sent it back and the new replacement was even worse. There were several large bubbles in the centre that wouldn’t budge despite very careful cleaning. When I very gingerly eased the shield off, I just put marks under it then the shield cracked right along the whole length.
    My opinion of these kinds of shields is, if they can crack and shatter so easily, how on earth can they be protecting the iPad? The iPad glass is very hard to scratch, but the shields do scratch. They do not protect from breaking on impact either, so of what real use are they? I for one will never install one again.

      I would encourage you to reach out to Ocushield to talk about what happened. I imagine they'll replace your broken units so you can get a good one on the iPad...

    I work on extremely sensitive databases on a regular basis. Being on-call 24/7 means sometimes going to work in public spaces. A privacy screen seems logical to me.

    Will anti blue light filter screen protector make the vivid an popping colours on the screen dull when watching movies and CZcams ? Will it help in arresting lost vision due to dry eyes and glaucoma?

    • @AskDaveTaylor
      @AskDaveTaylor  Před 2 lety

      Can't say about whether it can help with your vision loss, but it's surprising how little it affects the display.

      Summit, Blue light is VERY damaging to eyesight so that’s why I’m reading up on screens. You can, though, also purchase blue blocker glasses. That’s what my husband and I are wearing currently when on the computer or watching videos on our phones.

    will this work with an apple pencil ?

    • @AskDaveTaylor
      @AskDaveTaylor  Před 3 lety +1

      Not on your MacBook, for sure, as none support the Apple Pencil (I wish they did!) but I imagine that this wouldn't stop your iPad recognizing the pencil if you added a blue-light shield to your iPad. Double check with the manufacturer before buying, to be sure.

    How do you know it works?

    • @AskDaveTaylor
      @AskDaveTaylor  Před 3 lety +4

      That's a darn good question. You should see a little bit of color shift with it on and it's easy to see the privacy screen effect.

    Really what you should have done is cut the screen protector in half and that would show immediate contrast.

    • @AskDaveTaylor
      @AskDaveTaylor  Před 2 lety +1

      True, but then I have to throw it away after I'm done, which doesn't seem like a good idea to me.

      @@AskDaveTaylor Point taken, but.........would not a side by side be the best way to review?
      I'm probably wrong but would Ocushield not send a 'review unit' to an established channel like yourself?

    Why did you never test from the up sight, if someone is standing and try to peeing on your screen while you're sitting there, do they see everything?
