Pretty sure that while the video is recent the audio is from an album he recorded when he was younger back in the 80’s

You REALLY should listen to O Helga Natt by Jussi Björling, the world known tenor. This is the guy that even Luciano Pavarotti himself said he can´t be compared to.
By all the versions I´ve heard of O Helga Natt or O Holy night, Jussi´s is my favourite. It just doesn´t get better than that.

Fantastic as always. Tommy’s work in Chess in particular remains amongst the best musical theatre performances of all time, still the standard bearer over three decades later.
There is another sublime version of O Holy Night from another musical theatre performer, the late Jeff Fenholt. His live version, which I wish I could find again, was absolutely staggering and my personal favourite.
Merry Christmas from Sweden! Tommy is one of my favourite vocalists and he's is an icon in Sweden, still fully active and performing and still sounds fantastic. But if you think this was powerful.... well, you really should listen to one the greatest tenors of all time sing this song; The swedish opera tenor Jussi Björling (1911-1960). Pavarotti said in an interwiev: “When I'm learning a new opera roll, I first listen to how Jussi Björling sang it. His voice was unique. I wish more than anything that people compare me with Jussi.”. So if Tommy gave you goosebumbs, I promise you that Jussi will give you even more. I cry every time I hear Jussi sing "O Holy night" ("O Helga natt" in swedish). In my much younger age l was friend with Tommy Körbergs cousin, ofcourse we did listen to Tom and Mick, the group he was singing in at that time. Tommy's son is the older halfbrother to Avicii. They share the same mom.

Tommy has been a huge part of my musical life for well over 30 years, and I adore his special timbre and unique control - I've never heard him sing 'O Holy Night' until today - he made the truth of Christmas appear at the end of July in the middle of the UK - what a gift 😊

This is my absolute favourite christmas songs of all time and my absolute favourite artist to perform it. I love it so much that I listen to it even in the summertime and it was also on my playlist when I gave birth (in february) that is how much I love it, haha 😂

I randomly came across this reaction again, in July. I haven't heard neither Tommy nor Jussi Björling singing O Helga Natt since around Christmas time. And now I had goosebumps. I usually get that the first 20 something times I listen to either of them, every year, and obviously now too.
To be such a small country, we in Sweden have been blessed with a large number of singers, male and female.
Jenny Lind (known as 'The Swedish Nightingale') och Christina Nilsson in the middle of the nineteenth century, Jussi Björling in the middle of the twentieth century, and a few between that. Also Alice Babs, Birgit Nilsson, Nicolai Gedda, Lill-Babs (The Beatles actually OPENED for her on their first tour in Sweden 😂) and many more. And today? Well I rest my case about the last generation. By the way, do we really know if they are as good as they say? The technical progress can make it difficult to judge.
One thing is for sure; if you're looking for a Swedish, or of any nationality, singer who can express PAIN in his voice, it is Joakim Thåström.
'Märk hur vår skugga' (Fredmans Epistel 81) by Carl Michael Bellman (1740-1795) about the funeral of a friend's wife, and 'Briggen Blue Bird of Hull' by Evert Taube (1890-1976) about a ship in a rough storm, just by the West Coast of Sweden, the night of Christmas Eve. It's right outside of where one of the men onboard has his old parents living, and he trusts his father, he will come out to rescue them. And he does. He brings the crew to his house, and begins with offering them a schnapps. While he is pouring he asks for the name of the ship. The captain answers 'The brigg Blue Bird of Hull'. The father drops the glass, "My God! Where is my son?" The look at each other and the captain bows his neck, whispering "Carl was tied to the wheel, and forgotten onboard".
Many have sung and recorded these two songs, but no one has come near what Thåström does.

The audio from this official video to O Helga Natt is from 1989, an album called ”Julen Är Här” that Tommy Körberg released.
So when they released this video a couple of years ago they used the vocals from 1989.

Greetings from Sweden! Aah Tommy is so great!!!. If you want to hear another great swedish version of this song, I recommend to listen to Martin Almgren - O helga natt. He won swedish Idol 2015.
I learned about this wonderful voice, a couple of years ago while doing research about BAO (Benny Anderson Orkester). Tommy did a lot of work with the ABBA guys. Very often, he toured with BAO, accompanied by Helen Sjöholm, another beautiful Swedish voice (Gabriella's song). Watch out for a duet of Helen and Tommy, singing Bridge over troubled water.

Totally agree, Tommy x 2 are doing absolutely amazing (Körberg is slightly better then Tommy J), but Jussi is just untouchable.

I haven't reviewed all the comment so I might be second or third suggesting that you take a look at Tommy Körberg and Celine Dion performing "Beauty and the beast", It will show the range of his voice in more recent music, his performing skills and also his appearance when at his his peak. If you care to experience the best version of "o Holy Night" ever, please listen to Juss Björling's version.He was a scholar opera singer, but nevertheless, it will touch your barebones and your soul.

The lyrics are not the same (the words ”oh holy night” are), i really do like the swedish version better, both for the sound of the lyrics (it is seldom that I like a song better because it is in swedish but in this case I do, the lyrics are beautifully put together also soundwise) and for the meaning. It is just better - and then with versions like this one and the one from Tommy Johansson (and Jussi Björling, of course).

Tommy Körberg is fantastic, but if you would listen to his female counterpart you should listen to the norwegian artist Sissel Kyrkjebö, she sings with even less effort than Tommy, totally perfect. Please listen to her and give your reaction, you wont regret it.
