NIGGA! Those first two chords at 0:11 gave me a stank face and chills at the same time! Great Tutorial
HAHAHAHA!! Thanks
@@CarletonM What chords did you play there? I got the same feeling man!
The four chords played was
L: A. R: A C# D# G#
L: D# R: G# A# C# F
L: D. R: G# B D F or F G# B D F
L: D# R: G# A# C# F
Yo never stop making videos you’re the best
Appreciate it man!
Indeed great video
Agreed.
now I gotta go back and watch all ya videos cause you a GOAT
Thanks for the support! Appreciate it 💯
I've got to say for an intermediate player, making the next jump can be really difficult.
Also, most of the tutorials on CZcams usually are made by pros trying to show their skill and are usually too complicated to follow.
You are simply the best at breaking complex techniques into easily assimilated and 'learnable' portions
Discovered your channel four days ago and I've already implemented almost three new techniques
GOD BLESS YOU!
had to write that in all caps
Thank you so much! I'm so glad that my videos have been helpful to you. God bless you too 💯
You have the extraordinary skill of making every sentence follow logically from the preceding sentence. This sounds obvious, but unfortunately it is rare, even among professional teachers. Every idea you bring up, you immediately explain it clearly and completely before moving on to another idea. Thank you for so generously passing along your knowledge.
Learning about secondary dominants has opened so many doors in my mind. It feels like a real aha moment. Thank you
You're welcome. I felt the same way when I first learned about them!
I haven't played in bout 7 years. They say the gift never dies but this helped me snap back real quick. A lot of stuff I forgot about. I'm jammin again now thanks

The four chords played at 0:11 was
L: A. R: A C# D# G#
L: D# R: F# A# C# F
L: D. R: G# B D F or F G# B D F
L: D# R: F# A# C# F
Sorry, I put G# instead of F# for the 2nd and last Right hand Chords so i fixed it.

A Maj7 (5)
Ebmin 7,9
D Dim

Thanks for subbing!
Yo thanks bro, nice for that explanation of the use of the secondary dominant cord. Appreciate it.
Happy to help!
You explain it so well
Thank you! I had to record this video like 10 times to get it right haha
More videos like these bro 🔥
You already know! 💯
Thanks for the jewels Carleton!
You're welcome! Thanks for watching.
So this makes so much sense! Would you say the super common progression 3-6-2-5-1 follows this same principle if we change those chords to dominants? I see the chords are all 5 chords going back to their tonic. Please continue to create r&b theory videos!!!
I gotta check out that progression when I get home and see if it follows the principle. More R&B tutorials coming soon though!
I barely understood the terms but did get information! Just really came to watch you play lol! Amazing dude!!!
Hahaha glad I was able to help! Thanks
@@CarletonM Worth the sub!
3 yrs later, this vid is still "gold".

Needed that never understood for years
Thanks again!
Youre welcome 👍🏾
I appreciate this shit so much. As a beginner this helped me so much with my theory.
Man I'm glad it helped you! Thanks for leaving a comment!
*Well.... I don't understand half of the things you said but it's my fault. The tutorial is dope as hell and helps a lot actually if you start experimenting. Earned a new loyal sub* 🙏🏽
Thank you! I’m working really hard on creating a whole piano course. It’s gonna be REALLY helpful! Stay tuned for that.
I have no clue what you talked about but I can tell this is a great tutorial, and it’s exactly the sound I’ve been looking for. Where does one even get started on learning to recreate this, do we need know music theory or what?
Love the video, my brotha. Can u do a similar one about Xavier Omar and/or Kyle Dion?
Watching you from Cameroon...
Same
you can definitely use a dominant chord on the 7th degree of the scale. sounds really good if you ask me. music theory is only a guide post. it is not a razor wire fence, that turns into a field of land mines, surrounded by a moat of crocodiles that must not be crossed.
Great video, thank you for sharing your knowledge 🙏🏾🙏🏾
6:25 I think the song you had in my mind was W.A.Y.S 😉
Much appreciated! And YUP that's the one! lol
This is sooo good!
Thank you!
dope vids !
Appreciate it!!
More vids like this please🙏
Bet. I got you.
@@CarletonM let’s go!💪
Just got this on my recommended, subscribing is a no brainer! Thanks man that was helpful af!
Haha appreciate it bro. Thanks for subscribing! 💯
Great tutorial. Can you do that new Summer Walker song called pull up? It got a laid back calm feel to it.
