GTIR PULSAR EXPLODES! 500HP ATW, What Went Wrong?

- We take the car back to the dyno for a retune. It makes an impressive 500HP at the wheels on 25psi of boost on pump gas 98 octane.
The car was already making piston slap noise before we took it to the dyno. The weekend before i took it out to test it after the repairs and new wastegate spring and the car spiked to 33psi. I suspect this is when the damage was done.

An fittings are a benefit with braided line.. ensures no leaks happen. Love the build dude and i love ur optimisim. Im building an AWD p11 wagon with a gtir drivetrain. Love the build though man ill make sure to keep upto date on it.

@@RCrazyNZ Havent had much to do with cars for a while now. Helped build up a drift car in the 2k's. Cefiro with RB20DET and a hybrid turbo... Unfortunately the "Tuning Company" apparently had to tune it at 20psi boost... and standard pistons took the hit (actually broke the ring of piston metal between the actual rings (came out in a couple of pieces but was at least captive while being run... and the top of the pistons were beginning to burn.
A rebuild with forged pistons and a reduction to 300hp or thereabouts (at the wheels I think) made it last...
Right up to that wall exiting "Higgins" on Manfield track NZ.
Sigh.

I'd say it was a combo of a few things. Damage done at drag strip, i ran 33 psi of boost through it on accented before the last dyno run and she was a bit noisy heading into that session. Lots of things.
Like i said in your last video... to lean... you'll crack a bore or melt a piston...

Had same engine in a us pulsar loved to blow head gaskets no matter what I did with studs thicker gasket etc
Never had an issue with head gaskets on these. I guess I still haven't as this ones cracked the block hahaha... think I'd rather a gasket issue.... Thanks for commenting and watching mate appreciate it!
Dang were they oversize pistons never thought it would push the sleave and crack the block
Yeah man 87mm beleive it has a 2.2L stroker crank in it as well. Won't know until i open it up.

@@paulbarnett5856 cosworth one. I changed it around 2 years ago when I rebuilt the head. I've never opened the bottom end.

Bangin around in a 300kw golf now. Mates got a sweet gtir aswell. Was off the road for a good 8-9 years coz his ex wouldn't let him spend a dime on it. He fucked her off and starting a parts collection for a big build lol
