His video is stored on his D drive in a folder named "s". If yours was stored on your E drive in a folder called video and your files were called v1 and v2, you would type the following instead: cd /d e: cd /d e:\video copy/b v1.mp4+v2.mp4 Hope this helps someone

for a shortcut in the "copy" part, just copy and paste v1 and v2 to the directory that your command prompt shows. then no need for the change directory. you can go straight to "copy/b v1.mp4+v2.mp4"

Fixed a GoPro video that was corrupted. GoPro was NO help at all- blaming it on the PC, video card, user error, etc. BS! GoPro cam is consistently corrupting the last file in a long recording time, where the whole video is broken up into 17+ min segments. Glad for the fix. Thanks!!

Pulled the battery out of my sony a7c before it finished recording on a high profile job last week. My camera produced a 45gb corrupted file and no .xml. This video just majorly saved me. Took hours to copy and recover everything but I'm very grateful.
FOR EVERYONE WHO JUST GOT TWO FILES WICH ARE JUST 50% AS BIG AS THE ORIGINAL ONE. TRY THIS: Do the steps where he copied and merged the file and got a file which was two times as big as the original. And now do the same with your new file again. If you have done this you actually have a file which is 4 times as big as the original. Try to repair it now, the program will hopefully give you 3 files. Two of them will be just 50% of the lenghth again but one is full sized.

The path is the filepath to the folder your broken file is located in, you can get it if you right click your broken video file in the windows explorer and click "Properties". You can now see it next to "Location" (should look something like this: "D:\Videos\Holiday videos"). It's probably easier to just navigate to the folder with your broken file using the windows explorer, holding shift while right clicking in it and then clicking on "Open command window here" (make sure you shift right click on the empty space and not a file).
A note for everyone using a gopro sessions 4, My brothers' files go corrupte after a few clips ( not sure if its because of the file size or bad sd card ), either way I followed the steps and got the repaired file, open it and hit another error after the export. Which was ' A bad public movie atom..', anywho, to fix this problem I opened the 'repaired' file ( Placed by video repair ) in vlc ( version 2.1.3 Rincewind ) and found that it played perfectly there. Sooo the final step was to use vlc's convert/save feature and export the 'repaired' file to a new file by vlc and that worked! That exported file will play fine in any video editor, unlike the 'repair' file. P.S. When you export in VLC please make sure you wait till the entire length of the file finishes playing/exporting.

Cannot believe this software actually works. Before trying this I tried few famous softwares and website but none could recover my corrupted video. In my first attempt the video frame rate didn't match, an 11 min video was recovered as one hour long, then after manually adjusting frame rate in setting I got the exact size.
Yes, by following the steps in the video, I managed to repair my corrupt .mp4 file. A tip: To read more about the DOS commands just type HELP or more specific HELP COPY.
How is it possible that I am the only person who realizes that the file length is not doubled? The file size is doubled, but look at the length! Its the same! the fixed file still ends up being only half the length of the original file.

After 8 years this still works great! Video Repair Tool is able to repair my broken MP4. And your 'hack' to be able to repair the whole MP4 in trial mode is PERFECT! Thanks!
So everything worked perfectly for me but when I got to the repaired folder the v1 read 225kb and the video started and gave me a short thumbnail of what the video might be but it was less than a second. Any ideas?
The program can only fix a broken header of the container (the header contains info about size, framerate, color space, codec etc., so if there is no header, your media player doesn't know how to interpret the bits inside the file), if the video and audio data itself corrupted there is no way to fix it (unless you find a way to time travel).

This is very helpful; if the video finished and it is really short, make another folder but instead put 3-4 copies and name them v1,v2,v3,v4,etc. then merge all them, you can copy more than 2 in command prompt at once. doing this will make more of the video playable. Also if the video is sped up, use a video editor and separate the audio and cut the speed of the video in half. Hope this helps

to change to a different drive, just enter its letter followed by a colon and hit enter (so "D:" and then enter for example). dunno why he does it with cd...
worked with my in-game recording with shadowplay. I chose a recording of the same game that I made earlier as a reference movie if some of you are wondering.
mines is 9 seconds long with messed up audio and fast forwarding basically everything with some glitching and skipping :/ My reference video was basically perfect match because it was essentially the same gameplay doing the same section of the story but of a different character, yet it didn't work. Both used OBS too. I can't possibly think of a better video match -_-

make sure you are in the right directory for example if its on your desktop u need to do "cd c:\users\(Username)\desktop\(file)\" before u can do the copy/b command.

Here's the Mac process: In Terminal, type in cd ~/(your video directory). Then, type in cat file1.mp4 file2.mp4 >merged.mp4. It should work for any video type; it will yield a create a new file, so you'll have the merged file, plus your original files.

instead of doing the joining part the way you did, by using the computer to join the 2 files, you can just; step 1)take the file, step 2)make a copy of it, step 3)open one of the files with movie maker, step 4)and use the "add video" function. simple as that, and you don't need to use the CMD in the old fashioned way. it worked for me. edit: I did join the 2 files successfully, but the program didn't repair the video. the sound and video is stopped at a certain point, but the video itself is playing.

Works like a charm. For some reason recorded video file with onepleus 5 phone and it was corrupted when finished. My guess is that because the phone was at low 4% battery when the 3 hour recording ended, the phone had moved to battery saver mode and that is probably the reason it did not save the mp4 video file properly. This combination trick works perfectly. My corrupt video had been converted previously so I didn't have an ideal reference video so the result was in slow motion. I went into the settings and manually set the frame rate and voila! I also did it with the original version as well and it was half as long. Adding the files together resulted in getting the entire video.

So everything worked perfectly for me but when I got to the repaired folder the v1 read 225kb and the video started and gave me a short thumbnail of what the video might be but it was less than a second. Any ideas?

For me, "repaired" file wasn't repaired at all. As the program suggested I tried to "repair" a non-broken file and it came out fucked as well :(

The program can only fix a broken header of the container (the header contains info about size, framerate, color space, codec etc., so if there is no header, your media player doesn't know how to interpret the bits inside the file), if the video and audio data itself corrupted there is no way to fix it (unless you find a way to time travel).

This is very helpful; if the video finished and it is really short, make another folder but instead put 3-4 copies and name them v1,v2,v3,v4,etc. then merge all them, you can copy more than 2 in command prompt at once. doing this will make more of the video playable. Also if the video is sped up, use a video editor and separate the audio and cut the speed of the video in half. Hope this helps

to change to a different drive, just enter its letter followed by a colon and hit enter (so "D:" and then enter for example). dunno why he does it with cd...

My reference video was basically perfect match because it was essentially the same gameplay doing the same section of the story but of a different character, yet it didn't work. Both used OBS too. I can't possibly think of a better video match -_-

change "copy/b v1.mp4+v2.mp4" to "copy/b (your file name)+(Your File name)" Also make sure you are in the correct directory. BOL

make sure you are in the right directory for example if its on your desktop u need to do "cd c:\users\(Username)\desktop\(file)\" before u can do the copy/b command.

I have a 8GB corrupted gameplay of 30 minuts and it becomes a 16GB file. I've followed all steps, but the "repaired" video is like a glitchy fast camera video. Is something wrong or maybe the program can't handle the file?

In mac command prompt is called terminal. Not sure if it works 100% the same
Here's the Mac process:
In Terminal, type in cd ~/(your video directory).
Then, type in cat file1.mp4 file2.mp4 >merged.mp4. It should work for any video type; it will yield a create a new file, so you'll have the merged file, plus your original files.
Easiest math ever. Worked like a charm. Recovered one awesome video for my niece.

I was also getting the message "access denied" because I went into Command Prompt without right clicking and choosing Run as Administrator. When I went back and chose Run as Administrator, I was able to copy. Good luck!

Help.. cd /d d: says “The system cannot find the drive specified”
instead of doing the joining part the way you did, by using the computer to join the 2 files, you can just;
step 1)take the file,
step 2)make a copy of it,
step 3)open one of the files with movie maker,
step 4)and use the "add video" function.
simple as that, and you don't need to use the CMD in the old fashioned way.
it worked for me.
edit: I did join the 2 files successfully, but the program didn't repair the video.
the sound and video is stopped at a certain point, but the video itself is playing.

I feel I should mention, the "purchase" option doesn't require you to pay a cent. The 'keygen' that came with my version of the program pretty much allowed me to use the full version.

Works like a charm. For some reason recorded video file with onepleus 5 phone and it was corrupted when finished. My guess is that because the phone was at low 4% battery when the 3 hour recording ended, the phone had moved to battery saver mode and that is probably the reason it did not save the mp4 video file properly. Thanks mate!
This helped me out so much with my Sena prism movies, I have no idea why but at least 50% of the time the video files are corrupted. It's literal garbage.

This combination trick works perfectly. My corrupt video had been converted previously so I didn't have an ideal reference video so the result was in slow motion. I went into the settings and manually set the frame rate and voila! I also did it with the original version as well and it was half as long. Adding the files together resulted in getting the entire video.
