My last trip to AC was about 5 years ago. Went there for my birthday (winter February) and for 4th July and a June weekend. Stayed at Caesar and Baily and Resort.
Damn shame about losing Ripley. Went there on my birthday. One can always identify a Ripley Museum. (The one in NY is the exception, since it looks like a regular building)
Glad the Steel Pier is still around. Went there on a summer weekend. And those great 99 cents stores (better than the ones in my neighborhood)

The Atlantic Ocean and its beaches are so beautiful to sit by, but as someone born & raised in CT, who has lived in NYC and NJ, I cannot get in that water. It’s a shame how contaminated it is. They shut down several beaches in NH, MA and RI due to bacteria. But if you’re going to relax and enjoy the ambience that’s great! I haven’t been to AC in a couple of years, it’s not that bad of a drive. I should make a weekend out of it soon. This video is so soothing 🧘🏾♀️

Beaches are NOT free, in case you didn't know that.
Just so you know (as I had the same concerns previously) that bacteria levels are up on both coasts.
We went to Tampa and then South Beach a couple of months ago and it turns out there were warnings/shutdowns of flesh-eating bacteria. It's not just the northeast.
Scary stuff. But with that said, we did NJ/VA/FL and were fine
Just rode the entire AC boardwalk today. Sunny, with a lot of TLC needed!
Windmill palms, if covered, would survive here. I’m on North East, MD and mine are very healthy!

There are 5 counties of beaches in NJ. The total number of beaches in these 5 counties total over 40. If you don't want to visit AC, there are many others to choose from. They do a bacteria check in all of these beaches spanning over these 5 counties. Most of these beaches pass and AC struggles for reasons I'm sure you're all aware of.

I'd love it if they added shrubbery or palm trees lined along the boardwalk. It would definitely add beauty to the boardwalk. More police presence in certain areas that are more seedy. Lastly, an amusement section near the Convention Center. Too many vacant lots. They could have more family centers in AC like Coney Island or The Wildwoods. A fishing pier, maybe in the bay area (near Ocean), and parks filled with fountains, park benches, and games: tables to play chess, boardgames, and games like Bocce ball etc..Lastly, make the vacant indoor pier into a Dave & Busters-type amusement center. A section to do paddle boats. Someone please buy the old Trump building and the old Hilton and convert them into condominiums. Thanks

These are not great ideas and I’ll tell you why, first of all it’s impossible to have palm trees planted there due to there not being soil and the weather atlantic city has on the off season they would all die, second of all they are never going to have a higher police presence on that boardwalk due to a few reasons one; they have much more to worry about in the city itself and two it’s they don’t need it, third of all they already have enough amusement parks steel pier, showboat, etc. They already have a lot of fishing piers in the marina district and a fishing pier in front of ocean wouldn’t work because the beach has a long drop off point which means fish don’t go near. The Pier shops at caesar’s (playground pier) won’t be made into that since they are building a dave and busters in the tanger outlets and they already have the showboat.
Went last week. Thought it was too hot to walk around on the boardwalk. Stayed in the Hotel the bus dropped me off at. Next time will try a different hotel.

Airport is NW of Atlantic City. About a 20 minute drive.
Just returning from Atlantic city, winter is off season but didn't expect the whole town will be so deserted.... hardly 10 people on road.

Thanks for the visit!! I am not from the NY area, but may I suggest you look into the Greyhound bus service and even Amtrak. I’m guessing they may have services to/from Atlantic City.

A lot has changed my husband and I it was the going out the gambling having fun . We want back for the weekend of 2011 my kids came with us an the say no it's not what we remember back in the remember in 1998 did they have no reason to go back there.
I'm sure the pandemic shutdown didn't help either
