In 1944 the Das Riech division of the SS stopped there after being constantly harassed by the french partisans they were on there way to the DDay landings as reinforcements, they spent the day in oradour waiting for all the men and boys to come in from the fields, the women and children were herded into the church, then when the villagers were all back in the village the Das Riech troops started to shoot everybody, the women and children in the church were killed by grenades being thrown in through the windows, I think 2 people managed to escape from behind the alter they were able to tell the story because they hid in a chicken coop, the Germans tried to raze the vill to the ground, a very somber place made real by the photos and the fact that in the grave yard most of the people all died on the same day, the uk is so lucky it didn’t have to fight 2 world wars in its streets villages and towns, …Pete

@@HelenAndyTravel oh we ain't got the cajones for that. Today we both said you look so well, a different couple from the vids a while back.
We are going through France and will stop somewhere halfway down , any recommendations?
Near motorway, then 3 to 4 weeks around Spain, spending 1 week in la duquesa at Bella Vista. We got a nice pitch next to the beach and pool.
We have done everything ourselves and to plug 240v in and it works feels like we are getting something for nothing .
Take care and if your ever up in the north west contact us.
