Recently I have announced my Siren Head horror mod that I am working on with the devs of Dangers In The Darkness, and today I wanted to go over a few thing I can speak of regarding the mod. What are going to be Siren Head's mechanics? Is he going to stalk the player? Where will it spawn? These are the questions I try to address in this video.

Please, if you have to make siren head appear and disappear, don't make it pop out of thin air, like ALL dweller mods.
It breaks immersion, and you just have the idea that they aren't part of your world, they just connect and disconnect like some troll players in your LAN world.
Dont worry, this is EXACTLY what I told the devs when we started making the mod lol.
Appear and disappear is specialised for ones that are MEANT to feel like trolls. Like Herobrine.

@@kihec007it could have a behavior like the original cave dweller where he goes away when the player sees him, only instead of sprinting away the moment the player sees him, he could just walk away when the player is staring at him from afar for too much time (since it would notice it has been spotted) and just relocate to another area calmly.

Yes exactly! A giant siren creature is probably not gonna be very sneaky... but he is supposed to blend in with the surroundings, which we are definitely keeping in mind while making the mod!

@@kihec007you could also add villager sounds to him because trevor said he can mimic human sounds so if you hear a villager in the forest you know its him
@@kihec007 the only problem with that is that your version of him looks like he's about 18 - 20 blocks tall, whereas lore accurately he's only about 12 blocks tall (1 minecraft block is exactly 1 meter, according to Henderson himself siren head is 40 feet tall or about 12 meters) so unless he's in a old growth taiga or a jungle he is gonna stick out like a sore thumb

W. He should move through leaves and have a 3 block auto step up just to be sure he’s more mobile. Also I can imagine just getting grabbed by him, like him reaching up into whatever tower you’ve built, grabbing and eating you would be freaky. (Kind of similar to the Cyclops from Ice and Fire)

Ender Titan also did grab which was super cool.
I know this isn't that unique for a mechanic. But it's a pretty big part of Siren Head's lore that he can mimic sounds to try and lure or confuse his prey.
So maybe if he's near her could have a chance to mimic the sounds of peaceful mobs like Sheep, Cows, maybe even Wandering Traders. But make the noises slightly edited, so they sound just a little bit off, but it could be easy to not notice right away if you're not paying attention.
I just wish people could showcase mods that existed before the dweller trend, and that are still unknown to the wider community...

One behavior idea I have for the mod is Siren Head attracting nearby mobs by mimicking their sounds, this would make it a more believable creature rather than a creature that's only relevant to you and no one else in your world
This sounds like a really cool idea and I would like to point some things out. Firstly, this mod really reminds me of the Abomination mod, which basically adds the entity from the creepypasta "That Thing" and it has some similar functions with your mod. However the entity can break blocks to get to you and combined with the "attacking you without noise or music after some time" ability is not the best thing for builds, so, definatelly don't allow it to break blocks (or at least make it configurable). Also, I think you should make siren head be able to hit you from a really big height (possibly 20 blocks) as a counter to building up (plus, its honestly better than having a goofy climbing animation). Finally, you could make it be able to reach out its long arms and grab you from places that it can't fit, providing that you have a block (minimum) that is not solid, again saving your from having to come up with a decent crawling animation. Anyways, good luck with it! 👍👍👍
EDIT: You could also add a telephone tower structure spawning in the world (not that common) to add to the whole siren sounds theme.
I'm very happy that you are trying to evolve from what has been done so far. We had all of this copied content; now it is time to make more creative projects like this, Manbear, and the Silence.
Now, I don't know if the devs can do this but, is it possible to make a custom death animation when he catches you? Like, he just grabs you and uh, *rip*
Also, I got like a few ideas but I don't think it might be possible:
- If there are doors, like any doors, Sirenhead can break it (or open it) and put his hands through it to check for players.
- Can you make it so that he can mimic the sounds of animals but either make it louder or distort it a bit.
- He can hide behind trees and peek from behind them.
- He doesn't run, but just walks. Menacingly.
- He appears but never disappears. If he can't catch you, he just walks away.
Yeah, just these ideas. I think my first idea wouldn't be possible, and also the custom death animation thingy but maybe it might happen.

Also following Siren Head Lore, he should be trying to hide. Emiting siren noises and is hunting for prey. Siren Head is a predator. So he should hunt animals, villagers, and YOU.
Agreed, Siren head should be eliminating all kinds of mobs in forests therefore forcing you to venture deeper to find food.
Yes, but remember. Siren Head's preferred prey is humans. So maybe it should prioritize hunting Players and Villagers over animals.
Yes he WILL hunt wild animals if prey is scarce, but his preferred target is humans.
Maybe it could be just a rare event that he attacks animals or something because attacking a random Pig while on the prowl could give away his position to the player, which should be his prioritized target.

in case siren head goes out of render distance/simulation distance, perhaps recreate a "distant renderer" like Cracker's Wither Storm Mod.

To lure players in (if that's what you want), perhaps play sounds of other mobs like how it tries to imitate other things in its real counterpart, maybe like an ender dragon growl to confuse the player and lure them to investigate.

I think there should be whitelisted biomes by tag, there is tag forge:forest or forge:taiga and other mods like biomes o plenty has their biomes tagged. Or blacklist biomes with tags like forge:desert, so he won't spawn in modded biomes like desert

Suggestion for the Sirenhead mod: Sirenhead should have a somewhat rare chance to make an infamous and recognizable dweller sound effect. Like one from either the cave dweller or the man from the fog. This way if you don’t have those dweller mods installed, hearing what is you can clearly make out as a dweller sound despite their absence in the world would freak you out a little and you may even perform anti-dweller tactics on instinct. I’m so excited for this mod.

I remember watching CaptainSauce playing a game called "Siren Head's Revenge" a few years ago and in the Game there were Several ways to Keep Siren Head at bay until the Very end. The Two ways that I remember the Most could both be done with a Ranch Rifle (which is a Civilian Ruger Mini 14 which in turn is a Shortened M-14 Rifle). If you saw Siren Head in the Distance, you could look through the Scope and He'd Disappear and if he didn't and came Closer towards you, He'd run away and Vanish after getting Shot once or twice. Once you got to the very end of the Game, However, You were just stuck with the Police Lights in the Darkened Horizon and Siren Head just Runs you over like a Freight Train while in the Fetal Position.
The Question that goes with this is will there be Similar Mechanics to the Mod or are we, The Players, going to have our Heads made into Jell-O whenever Siren Head spawns in?
This brought me back to 2020-2021 when Trevor Henderson was all over the internet, thank you for making this mod, it really brought me back to the hype of siren head and all of Trevor’s different creatures, and this will probably be the best siren head mod. Most of them are uh…….questionable

Maybe he can have a Light Screech that doesn't do direct damage, but makes you deaf for a short time.

If he could spawn somewhere in the distance and make an increasing siren sound as he approaches the player, it would be very creepy. Or imitate sounds, for example, he's standing near a player who doesn't notice him and he makes an owl sound
Make city structures, with telephone wires and such, that look like siren head at a distance maybe a radio item/block that makes EAS warnings according to the in game weather, imo a lot of the horror comes from the “wait is that the siren head? Or not?”
Also they should one hit the player, like grab them bring them up the the mouth n eat them.
Minecraft really needs something scary again like this. Will it be for fabric? I saw a similar mod (box of horrors), there siren head only spawns in specific biomes where the trees are taller and further apart. (Doesn't restrict his movements that much and he blends in more with the trees). Or maybe make a config with the option to only spawn him in rain?
It will be on forge only (i think), i have also tried the box of horrors siren head before, but wasnt much of a fan of it, it just never worked right for me. This siren head will spawn in every forest, so in some of them he will stand out more and in some less (giving it more different experiences which I think is good), and trees wont restrict his movement because he will break leaves that are in his way 👍
i also think he should have a behaviour where if you encounter him and he is atleast like 20 blocks away from you he should just stare at you for 5 secs and then start chasing you
also idea : I suggested you add like head phones or smth like that so you dont take damge when you come near him from the sound waves
You should find a good tall tree mod to pair with it so it can get to the player without destroying the full forest getting to you.
You should like when your in a forest or in your house you just randomly hear loud stomping coming closer and sirens getting louder as a mechanic before it starts fading away
What i think would be cool is if he could mimic sounds of animals if you got close. Or maybe something like being compatible with a voicechat and being able to mimic your friends
i think you should rename from siren head to just something about sirens. Maybe something like "The sirens are calling" or "The call of the sirens".

Siren head's sirens seem a bit big
I think maybe he can be in biomes with taller trees because he is supposed to blend in with his environment. I have also heard that he'll play distorted ice cream truck sounds to lure in children of you want to add that sound, maybe baby villagers would follow it too, idk. I'm so happy this isn't just another dweller mor though, and the video shown of him makes me even more excited, please take your time as this looks amazing!
Edit: also another idea is that he would mimic mob noises, maybe even modded ones if they're installed with it

I would add structures that look exactly like him. And when hes standing he should look like the structure and not turn and stuff. Seeing the structure makes it creepy cuz it could be siren head. Also add screams and mob sounds that are slightly chnaged to it. And if you get too near he screams loudly and you get blindness and slowness. Then maybe let the player get attacked for a short time by sounds or by siren head stomping you know? I also would add some other monster of the creator. I think cartoon cat was also from the same person who made siren head… but i think structures and functions to make siren head less obvious are very important. The scariest thing is if you dont know if its siren head or just a structure…

I do personally suggest making siren-head smaller, like 12 blocks, to make it more accurate and to also make it able to hide in forests as it does, apart from that it looks brilliant!
He's gonna blend in just fine in other biomes with bigger trees. And in smaller ones, he's gonna give more of a godzilla vibe walking through the forest towards you and its gonna be equally terrifying

I know this might be hard but it would be sick if other henderson creatures were in the mod such as long horse or cartoon cat.
it should have slightly higher chance to spawn if its raining and if its close enaugh so the player can hear the sirens sleeping should be impossible, also it breaking weak blocks would be cool, like for example it could breach the wall if it detects player indoors, it should be avoidable too, it may be hard to code but it could look for glass blocks that are at its knee height and play the crouching animation to look through it and attack only if it could "see" the player through transparent block, like glass, bars, fences, water , air ect, also the hitbox should be bigger than neccecary so it does not glitch into walls like other big mobs from different mods
as i said, it may be suler difficult to code , and make it work, but with enaugh work it may be possible

The creepy atmospheric sounds and things like that is the only thing I liked the dweller copies for. There were some good sounds for these dwellers, but poor execution in the AI and mechanics.If the Goatman had some new mechanics that wasn't similar to the Cave Dweller, then I'd like the mod a lot more.

I admit I’m worried that siren head would get stuck on trees, since leaves are solid blacks and such.
Also is there a way you can make it compatible with the Manbear mod when it comes out?, it wouldn’t be very scary if they just end up attacking eachother.

He shouldn’t be in your face obviously, but he should just stay out of far distance for a while and then get closer as long as you well. Make sure you don’t look at them.

Also i have another great idea! :) So siren head is known for eating his victims, so i would love to see the siren head in this mod to be able to eat players and animals, like he would grab them and put it into siren head's mouth and eat and there would be some eating/brutal gore sound when he is eating. Siren head is known for doing this. Also this mod is amazing. This would have an custom good looking smooth animation
idea: make it so siren head can change his colour to match the tree biome he is in (forget about birch dont make him white)

I would but minecraft doesn't have an dedicated modloader, tmodloader for terraria has one. But for minecraft? The most user friendly thing I found was the technic modlauncher which allowed you to literally load up user submitted modpacks and launch them STRAIGHT into your game. And Technic ceased service an LONG while ago. Curse forge and other 3rd party server mod launchers I simply don't trust because they can be backdoored and hacked way too easily: every time I'm like "I'm gonna try the curseforge engine" I hear an "RED ALERT" that a mod has breached their security. Technic was the only thing I really had, and now that it's outta service I'm SOL.

Won't the trees obstruct it's path finding with how huge it is? Maybe have the size scale with some bioms? Or make it mimic other mob sounds via the sirens.
It will be able to break leaves that are in his way, so trees shouldn't be a problem for him. He won't break any other blocks tho.

i have an idea so siren head will disguise as a tree without players noticing siren head and when players are near the tree the tree will form as siren head and try to kill the playern.
my 2nd idea is an ability it plays its sirens really loud dealing like 20 damage or you decide.
my 3rd idea is that siren head will grab you and grabs you really close to its sirens and lets out a really loud siren and the screen is gonna be like shaking
i have good idea like sometimes he will just afd untill you come relly close (like 10 blocks)and then he starts atack you... is this even posible to do?
