  • Sorry for the length of the video , but this captures all aspects of this IFR flight from Tracy KTCY to Auburn KAUN with nominal IMC portions of the flight. Hand flew a bit and let the auto pilot fly a bit as well. Loved every minute of it and cant wait to ease into full IFR flights. Was certified in March 2003 and had to sell the first plane i owned. Did not fly IFR since. Went up with a CFII (thanks Brian at Skyview) and about 6 hours later , we are set and signed off. Not too bad for not in the saddle of IFR since 2003 😬

    NORCAL was pretty much offering you direct AUN without the dogleg at LIN. Any particular reason you didn't want the shortcut? Nice video and congrats for getting your ticket wet.

      I wanted to get into flying to the filed flight plan. I wanted more time in the clouds. Direct would have not been as much "IFR" vs. the route to the LIN VOR. Thank you for watching , much appreciated !

      @@fortheLoveofFlight LOL! That will change. At some point we all want those shortcuts, even tiny ones! :D

    When you were inbound for 07, at 46:20 you called CTAF and reported inbound for RNAV 30, then landed 07 - ? I presume the 30 was in error ?

    • @fortheLoveofFlight
      @fortheLoveofFlight  Před 4 lety

      Yup sure was a big error...Auburn only has a GPS07 approach...i will have to keep a bit more focused.

    great flight. thanks for sharing. getting GFC 500 soon enough so glad to see it in action. looks like it holds the plane on a rail even when bumpy. did you figure out why the AP got disconnected at IAF?

    • @fortheLoveofFlight
      @fortheLoveofFlight  Před 4 lety +1

      No...i am still working on that ... i think maybe the intercept angle was too much for it to deal with...it is an "abnormal" disconnect, so may need the avionics shop to do some trouble shooting and look at the G5 analytical codes thrown during those flights...

      @@fortheLoveofFlight What did you figure out on the autopilot disconnect?

    • @fortheLoveofFlight
      @fortheLoveofFlight  Před 3 lety

      not yet ... i had another disconnect last night after i dialed in a new altitude to decend to and did not engage yet...flew for about 2-3 minutes and got a disconnect...i am checking on firmware updates....i keep it current as I am sure they have some bugs they are still working on.

      @@fortheLoveofFlight So i got the same AP now in my archer, about 40 hours in, did not encounter any auto disconnects.

      I really love your set up.
      You can do screen recording with your iPad. Much better quality than pointing a camera at it.

      I am going to have to give that a try...never had done that "yet"
