Nervosa and Crypta has the thrash/death Brazil scene on their back, these two bands are one of my favorites with female vocals

I very much appreciate this list wasn’t all members of Kittie or Courtney LaPlante of Spiritbox who is amazing and absolutely deserves the praise they receive but you spotlighted some good small names in the scene which is super cool

Some others who come to mind for me are: Dorthia Cottrell of Windhand, Rebecca Vernon of SubRosa and the Keening, Christina Blom from Agrimonia, Anneke van Giersbergen (formerly in the Gathering and frequent Devin Townsend collaborator), and Alia O’Brien from Blood Ceremony. Also, metal-adjacent artists like Emma Ruth Rundle, Marissa Nadler and Chelsea Wolfe.

King Woman, hell yeah! Apparently they got more exposure now thanks to I Saw The TV Glow.

One of my all-time favorites has to go to Melissa Bonny of *_Ad Infinitum_* and *_Dark Side of the Moon_* . Her clean vocals are great (and sexy as hell) while her harsh vocals are out-freakin' standing!

Agreeed! She was also in Rage of Light. She did an excellent Twilight of the Thunder God cover with them.

Otep Shamaya, Poppy, Cristina Scabbia of Lacuna Coil, everyone in Kittie, Skye Sweetnam / Sever from Sumo Cyco
Nova Twins lean somewhat more alt rock / punk but with some strong nu metal influences.

I LOVE the Cult of Luna/Julie Christmas collab. Especially since her usual music isn’t like that.
Have you listened to “Leah” kinda Evanescence-ish.

From my country, Cristina Scabbia (Lacuna Coil), Cadaveria (ex Opera IX and now with her band named Cadaveria) and Sonya Scarlet (Theatres des Vampires) đŸ€˜
From other countries: Vibeke Stene (Tristania), Anita (The Sins of Thy Beloved), Doro, Liv Kristine (expecially with Theatre of Tragedy), Anneke (The Gathering), Tristessa (Astarte; unluckily she passed away 💔😱)

You should check out Brittney Slayes from Unleash the Archers. Huge soaring power metal vocals, and I believe she's a classically trained opera singer!

Jo Bench of Bolt Thrower was the first female in death metal, I think. She was easy to get along with, was actually very competent on the bass: in a scene where most death metal bassists were very one dimensional (dimension: using 1 string lol).
Runhild GammelsĂŠter (Thorr's Hammer) blew me away when I first heard her vocals in the mid 90's. The fact that she went on to earn a Ph.D in biology I thought was shit hot, a great role model for women - no doubt an influence on a lot of the fairer sex from that point onward.

and Tristessa was the first leader from the all female Black Metal band Astarte.
In Italy we have Cadaveria (Opera IX, her first band as extreme vocalist)

Great list of bands to check out, keep it up đŸ€˜ my all-timer is Masha Scream of Arkona, amazing pipes for the cleans and an aggressive growl. The Decades of Glory live album is like 2 full hours of singing and she doesn’t flag a bit, even though she’s got a throaty style that’s harder to maintain than bel canto đŸ”„ just makes me want to get up and wail. Their first 4 albums are death-influenced folk and their last 3 albums are more doomy/proggy if anyone wants to check them out

The Cheney and Julie shout-outs, oh my god oh my god. I probably wear my Entheos shirt more than any other band shirt. Julie on the Cult of Luna album is one of the greatest albums of all time imo. That's my #1 go to album if I need a good cry lol

Dipping into core stuff a lil bit w this one but I'd say my fav has to be Emma Boster, obsessed with her harsh vocals n her singing on Dying Wish's most recent album was also a treat, great performer all around :)

Karyn Crisis. Her vocals really took me a while to get used to but I wound up really liking them. Also, The Hollowing is an absolutely amazing album.
Sherri Vengeance from Black Like Vengeance. I love her absolutely demonic harsh vocals. They unfortunately haven't put out an album since 2007 but Empty As the Day is right up the alley of Lamb of God fans.
Alissa White-Gluz with the caveat that I liked her in The Agonist so much more than in Arch Enemy. Prisoners was such an amazing album that showed The Agonist going in such a great, experimental direction, and then she joins a band that STILL sounds stagnant to me. AE isn't BAD, they're just.... Not great.
Samantha Michelle Smith. Very hard to find her stuff but you can find some of her Fight the Demiurge album The End of All Things here on CZcams. She does everything herself, including the ridiculous gutterals that most men would wish they could pull off.
Also I heard about Oceans of Slumber from one of your videos several years ago and I absolutely fell in love with Cammie's voice, and I'm now proud to say someone told me on Rocked's newest video that they checked them out because of the comment I made and also like them now as well. 😊
