The F-14 in this scene is in fact a real plane, its located in San Diego Aerospace Museum and was built in 1974 and taken in service in 1975. I really like when movies use real vehicles and not Movie Replicas.
I saw this movie some days after Christmas 2023, and this was one of my favourite moments in the film. 😁 I was 17 in 2006 when these planes came out of service.
The Tomcat was intentioned to be a long range interceptor during the Cold War. It could carry six Phoenix long range missiles and had a powerful radar and weapons system. Even to this day, the 5th generation fighters depicted in this film would have gotten no closer than a hundred miles away from the Tomcat before being shot down. The Phoenix missile was a beast@
@@atiboyfulThe old AWG-9 Radar on early Tomcats was a beast, and could probably detect a Stealth fighter just because it was so powerful, much more so than the AN/APG-70 that was retrofitted to the F-14D.
There are some great shots in this movie. When the daggers enter the mountain pass with the airfoil at the wings, the scene where they are all evading the SAMS when they come out of coffin corner, the fly by as they approach the carrier, and the scene from above right after they take off the wheels clip the walkway between the tanks and the F-14 goes vertical with the afterburners firing. Love this movie.
2:40. Part of the takeoff, Rooster! Open the swing-wings to get lift much more quickly, deploy certain AM/O flaps, hold the breaks, put in max power, short-field T/O
Notice how after the scene preceding this when they are yelling at each other Rooster refers to Capt. Mitchel as Mav from here on... not Maverick. And a lot of his dad comes out the back seat of that Tomcat communicating with Maverick. They did pretty good with that part of the film for me.
After the scene where Cyclone is total disbelief, if I were him, I’d pull Warlock aside and owe him an apology thinking all those stories about Maverick he was full of sh#t
The F-14's initial role was as the Navy's primary fleet interceptor. It was however a more than reliable air superiority fighter with many of the same capabilities of the F-15 Eagle, which thanks to the Tomcats success and its own is the most combat capable and proven fighter ever made. At least until the F-22 earns it's stripes.

One of THE best sequels ever and probably one of my favourites of all time, soooooo good!
In the Latin Spanish dub, at 2:27 Rooster calls the F-14 a "pterodactyl" ("How are we gonna get this pterodactyl in the air?")
Well at the time of the f14 service it was the scariest thing with wings since the creatous period
I mean Christmas 2022
bro is a time traveler
@0553140 Same!.It is a masterpiece!👍💯
Bro are you from the future
The F-14 is still my favourite jet 👍🏻
Roosters "oh my gawd" sounds so legit and something exactly like id say
The Tomcat was intentioned to be a long range interceptor during the Cold War. It could carry six Phoenix long range missiles and had a powerful radar and weapons system. Even to this day, the 5th generation fighters depicted in this film would have gotten no closer than a hundred miles away from the Tomcat before being shot down. The Phoenix missile was a beast@
Well a modern 5th Gen fighter is stealth. And there’s no way the F-14’s RADAR could detect one
A smart F-14 weapons systems back seater would have known they were looking of a bird's radar signature....
@@atiboyfulThe old AWG-9 Radar on early Tomcats was a beast, and could probably detect a Stealth fighter just because it was so powerful, much more so than the AN/APG-70 that was retrofitted to the F-14D.
I bet you the AWG-9 radar would have picked up the Chicom fighter...@@ThatGingerGuy51
@@cleekmaker00 Can you help me convince some doubter's on this thread?
This music is absolutely amazing, how it builds up nostalgia to drama to thrill and everything. even muted only the music makes it dramatic.
It's amazing that f14a is 50 years old.
Absolutely love this film, his first 3 kills were missile, this one were guns
Also by adding two it makes him an ace.
2:58 Rooster: Holy shit!!!!!!!!!!
*20 secs later*: Holy shit
The sexiest flying thing ever
Both of them just got out of a crash but have perfect hair!!
Its not an old ,but a legendary 🔥🔥
That tomcat was like: Holy SHIT Do I have an American Pilot in my cockpit? FUCK ITA LIKE THE GOOD OLD DAYS!
I love how the f14 starts moving out of the hangar
There are some great shots in this movie. When the daggers enter the mountain pass with the airfoil at the wings, the scene where they are all evading the SAMS when they come out of coffin corner, the fly by as they approach the carrier, and the scene from above right after they take off the wheels clip the walkway between the tanks and the F-14 goes vertical with the afterburners firing. Love this movie.
2:40. Part of the takeoff, Rooster! Open the swing-wings to get lift much more quickly, deploy certain AM/O flaps, hold the breaks, put in max power, short-field T/O
If you think this is old Rooster, you should see the P-51 Mav works on in his spare time.
Love this scene
What about the thin arch block? Don't get to happy 😂
"I shot down three MiGs in one of these"
Reminding us of his score, so that later when he bags 2, it makes him an Ace.
best modern movie i've seen in a long time.
2:00
🎵 ”fly into the Danger Zone~~” 🎵
Probably my favourite scene…great movie!..
The best part of the movie for me was when they took off in the F-14. What an epic scene!
Notice how after the scene preceding this when they are yelling at each other Rooster refers to Capt. Mitchel as Mav from here on... not Maverick. And a lot of his dad comes out the back seat of that Tomcat communicating with Maverick. They did pretty good with that part of the film for me.
"It can't be..."
Maverick "dong!"
After the scene where Cyclone is total disbelief, if I were him, I’d pull Warlock aside and owe him an apology thinking all those stories about Maverick he was full of sh#t
3:27 Rooster laughing 😂
Tomcat is by far one of my all time favorite aircrafts tied for first with the Dauntless Dive Bomber 💯
man, all those "old man noises" coming from that F-14
I was in the navy back when these were the top line fighters. Fun to watch fly. Makes me realize life moves so fast.❤
"I shot down 3 migs with one of those " He didn’t know that he's going to shoot two more Su57 with the F14
The music starting at 1:54 is literally a masterful Hanz Zimmer rendition of “Highway to the Danger Zone.”
Holy shit! Mav mav holy shit!!!!! This was one of my favorite scenes from this movie!!!
🤣🤣🤣
3:17 IT'S ALIVE🥹🥹🥹🥹
0:14 an F-14

2:33-2:34-2:35-2:36-2:37 F-14’s wings come out
2:40 why the wings coming out Mav
2:45-2:46-2:47 F-14 afterburners
2:55-2:56-2:57-2:58-2:59-3:00-3:01-3:02 F-14 moves fast

Ooooookay.... er, thank you.... I think 🙂
@@anesennaidoo5279 no problem, enjoy my favorite clip parts of the video
No love for the Iconic "Yo Quiero Top Gun" Bell at 3 fiddy six?? :)
"Maverick and Rooster steal F-14 Tomcat"
I mean, "steal" is such a strong word...
They just borrow it, ya know, without promising to return it...
It's an american fighter, they're just repossessing it. 😅
Facts! It's American made and we're just "bringing her home"😂
Miles Teller and Glen Powell were so good in this movie. I hope both go on to bigger things.
F14 is still badass
The most beautiful fighter jet and very fast. Love f14 tomcat legend 🦁
Same as my 95 mustang GT.
My son was like dad this thing is so old
3:27 ! Roosters face ! 😅
"Crow damn you ... Crow." from The Blue Angel starring Emil Janning as the Rooster
I would love to see Clint Eastwood's Firefox movie being remade but with Tom Cruise stealing the prototype.
I like miles teller he is so cute and so smart and so kind and so awesome big fan he is so good looking and he makes me laugh so much I want to meet him in person so bad
"This is a very short taxiway"
