Although Sheet metal of city is good, not like German cars but Platform (Body structure) of City is very strong which helps to save passengers inside the cars..
Honda never compramises with body structure(platform) in india..Hyundai/ kia does with its cars..with poor platform and good sheet metal quality..results like kia seltos got barely 3 star (missed by 0.03 points) else got 2 star only..
Before Crash test of kia seltos, everyone was saying seltos has best built quality, look at the bonnet it feels heavy, door close with thud etc blah blah blah...But due to poor platform, seltos scored 3 star as Body shell was unstable..if seltos had given 10 airbags with platform kia is providing,it will not save passengers, the car will break into pieces
So Body structure,Platfrom is primary factor and Sheet metal quality is the second..

All those who mentioned that fenders are like this are wrong. Go and check for yourself in cars from VW, skoda, nissan, ford etc. I checked it on city, vento and rapid and the fenders, C pillar, door panels depressed only on the city and not on vento/ rapid. This is pure cost cutting and not for pedestrian safety. The bumpers are made soft (with use of a fiber material) for pedestrian safety. Other brands aren't fool that they will not follow the guidelines. VW, skoda, ford etc are more safety oriented than other brands.

When i checked the bonnet, Even the front half of the bonnet has some flex. I think its a part of the crumple zone. New cars have stricter pedestrian safety norms I guess (not sure). A cheap metal car cannot score 5 star in asean ncap. Btw a good video 👍.

Can't be sure if its so for crumple zones. They have used thin metal sheets all around unlike VW, skoda, ford etc. The car that scored 5 star in ASEAN NCAP was made in thailand for thailand (listed on honda india site) so quality might differ in the indian version. Also ASEAN NCAP tests at 50kmph instead of 64kmph of GNAP so its easier to score on ASEAN NCAP. I guess indian variant can't score more than 4* on GNCAP.

@@siddharthpathak3394 The thailand and indian version of city is exactly same in terms of built quality..check the kerb weight..its exactly same..

    • @siddharthpathak3394
      @siddharthpathak3394 Před 3 lety

@@Saahilll I already know that. BTW its not exactly the same, in malaysian and thailand cars they give a specific weight whereas in india they have given a range. I asked about this to honda sales person and he initially started giving reasons like its due to ground clearance but when i said that it won't increase weight to that extent then he said indirectly said that there can be a variation in quality because people here want more mileage.
We can only hope both the cars are the same. Even then i don't like the thin metal sheets they use (not in terms of car safety). For the premium honda city commands, the build quality (not safety) isn't upto the mark.

Hey bro nice video, I own a ZX CVT and I don’t think this is a issue. I believe this is done to reduce injury to pedestrians , for that reason cars front bumpers and fenders have been made of flexible or crushable materials to reduce the severity of impact.

Thanks for your reply. First of all, I would like to inform you that the video is based on the personal observations and experience. Experiences may differ from person to person. I have been facing lot of issues with respect to gear transmission hardening till now. Rear light is not actually a copy of BMW but it’s more of that of AUDI (Old Model). Honda has the best engines not doubt on that but I have faced an instance in which the body strength of Honda City 5th Gen is not so good. I have a whole big dent on the back side of the Car roof due to a jump of Monkey from 1st floor. Try your self pushing the fender to the inside if the car and you will feel the difference. Fenders are the crumple zone. Agreed. This could be the case with german cars where you can feel the build quality.
Having said that, no car perfect. I like Honda City a lot. You talk about it’s exterior design, interiors, engine refinement and lot of stuff to write about. But the car strength with respect to its body does not seems to be satisfactory. This is my personal opinion and you have full right to disagree with me.

People no knowledge about safety of a car complain about fender. Fender is designed to break and crumble especially for smaller sedans. But for heavy vehicles like lorry and bus or even a SUV it can be harder.

I think it's cost cutting and not a feature to save pedestrians because among the cars that I own I also purchased Skoda
Karoq around 3 months ago which is a CBU i.e it is directly imported from Czech Republic. They have strict Safety Regulations and the fender in the Karoq is as hard as the doors,so,according to this Honda has cut corners in Safety even after launching city at such a high price point according to the segment it belongs to.....
For your Reference :- Skoda Karoq scored 5 Stars in Euro NCAP which is considered one of the most toughest to crack but Skoda managed to do so and the same car is being Imported to India with 9 Airbags, strong build and all the electronic safety functions.

Don’t know why people make automobile videos if they don’t have any knowledge.
I also have the same Honda city and there is something called mounting point .This fender is not mounted on the point where you are pressing . Press right above the wheel arch and see , it will be hard .
Next year car prices are increasing for a reason , to keep up companies have to cut cost so sheet metal is weak .
Sheet metal strength is not equal to safety , an ambassador can kill the occupant in a 50 kmph head on .
If you really want cars with tough sheet metal and good safety now you should have spent more money and bought cars like civic or octavia which will satisfy your needs .
Don’t berate a brand without prior research .

Why do you guys love to supply content that spreads heated argument, anger, frustration and hatred - just for views? satisfy own ego, coz someone questioned you ? just to be popular? Just to earn more money ? Why ? Safety, Build quality and strength are subjective discussions not conclusive within seconds. Pls stop this, for God sake you own a Honda City, maintain that bit of class and kindly stop creating such content where you say - “you decide”? You should know people will fight, that’s what we are. There is a reason why we were ruled by bunch of people from all around the world for 800 years, stop exploiting that vulnerability in us. Humble request to you and all such content creators.
