Why Every Marginalized person or group needs to be an ALLY for Pride - 3 key points ✊🏾🌈🏳️⚧️

- Do you and your workplace celebrate and support PRIDE⁉️ Sadly some folks STILL don't know why we should all support it and be the best ALLY we can be. Let me explain... 👇🏾🌈✊🏾
1️⃣ FIRST - every marginalized group, minority, or oppressed peoples should empathize with other vulnerable groups. That famous poem about "I did not speak up for X because I wasn't one of them" is a huge lesson. Does everyone know that poem or not understand it❓
2️⃣ SECOND - It doesn't matter whether you are a religious, spiritual, agnostic person or anything else. We EACH have a code of ethics that tells us to be human to one another. ✅
That means doing our best to listen, to empathize, to try and understand, even if we are a different group or share different beliefs. We can disagree without putting anyone down. 💯
We must treat each person with dignity, respect, and find ways to support them.
We must avoid dismissing, demeaning, insulting, and harming other people needlessly. Can you get behind that philosophy⁉️
3️⃣ THIRD - There are always groups under attack. As a Brown Muslim, I know how upset I’d be if my fellow Brown folks or Muslims were under needless attacks. And currently there are a ton of challenges for the LGBTQ+ community,
❇️ So yes, there are some serious challenges going on for a very vulnerable and marginalized group - many who are among our work colleagues, our friends, our families, but they are most importantly among our fellow citizens, community and humans. 💯
I'll stand up as an Ally (see my t-shirt). You should too. ✊🏾🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
Got an issue with that⁉️ Educate yourself first. Then try empathy, compassion and kindness as a leader.
