Gia's performance was nice, but it was not a drag performance. If she had redesigned her costume and makeup to make it a drag performance, she may have won, even though she was against some very stiff competition.

@@harry490 I think most of queens were confused about Season 4's judging in general. I've heard a number of queens were shocked Gia wasn't the winner of the talent show. Monet and some other queens have said that Naomi was actually funnier in person with the Jersey Justice challenge and a lot of her lines were cut, making Manila look funnier and so on. Alexis Michelle and the other producers weren't as sneaky with their shenanigans during All Stars 4
I get she chose Monique because she did perform the best, I get she chose Trinity because she was the audience's favorite, but I will never know why she chose Naomi over Gia

Actually, as4 had more variety than others but the fact that i havent had recover from the greatest act of violence against the gay community in As3. I had to witness another deverstating rigga morris

Also, Manila was pretty boring on the first half, the point of having a variety show challenge is to entertain, she did not accomplish that, and also i have to mention that she didn't paint those flowers "out of scratch", they were already drawn on the canvas.

@@UnberableYeah that’s what she told the producers months before shooting she gets there and gets told she can’t do Janet because of not wanting to pay for licensing so she had to do something else. I don’t know how much time she had but honestly if she somehow got lip syncing to a song they had license to I think that would been better than that

Well the judges are cultured so that just isn’t mesmerizing enough nor is it drag enough. Doing something since you were a kid so you’re basically a professional at compared to something more creative that you thought of yourself, creativity will win every time!

I really think more people should be able to embrace other cultures of fashion and tradition but people get their feelings all offended too easily these days. I don't think the children are ready for real cultural expression through drag quite yet. Some have dabbled but they still want pads, drama and death drops. Lol

Since no one is talking about it, Farrah had a stunning preformance. For a mishap to have some of the contestants say "She might be in the bottom" and "that wasn't stunning" is just wrong. It was beautiful it was just an accident and she still continued and stayed amazing through the rest of her preformance.
She did continue but she looked very visibly defeated. It’s hard but if you make a mistake on stage you can’t let it show. If she had recovered well she might not have been in the bottom.
Alyssa really is the only one I like doing the “energetically stomping around the stage and having spoken in a not really witty song” routine. Yet the judges love it every time.
i just don't understand how lip syncing to a song completely built on some mildly funny catchphrase that's not sung well while not even dancing impressively is considered a talent. like, have something else at least, like Latrice doing flags, or Valentina having a song that's actually a real song

I think Chi Chi has a very hit or miss personality but she's a strong hit for me.
Her energy during her performance was definitely there and I liked her baton twirling. My only real complaint about her performance is it's lack of flashiness to stand out and her shoes.

I love it when queens from other countries do acts in relation to their culture. It brings a fresh air of variety to the show and introduces other cultures to a large audience. Bebe and Gia, for example, was amazing to watch.

I still feel bad for farrah, her whole set was STUNTINGLY BEAUTIFUL and the fall messed w her confidence but she’s so so so talented, I love her so much

Not positive if this is accurate, but I read somewhere producers gave her the choice of airing her performance with the fall or the one without it. She chose for them to air her falling because it made more sense with how she acted later and the judging.
I just thought that was very respectable and mature of her.

ik this comment is from a year ago but i’m replying just in case anyone seeing it might be under the illusion that raven is a nice person.
based on what adore has said about raven when she was asked in interviews why she quit as2, raven is not cool at all and seems like a shitty person.
p.s. for those that don’t know, apparently during the judging raven’s critiques of adore weren’t genuine critiques and mostly just gross and extremely inappropriate insults about her appearance and adore felt much more emotionally impacted by raven’s comments than michelle’s but since raven was just a guest judge production didn’t wanna make her look bad so they just cut that part out and went with a narrative that made michelle out to be the villain/the main reason adore had left the show.
and considering the kind soul that adore is and that she felt so strongly about it that she later called out raven on twitter about it, i think what she said about raven being horrible is true.
plus raven has never been back on drag race and i get the feeling it’s cause production doesn’t ever want her back on in light of what happened. granted lots of guest judges have never been on more than once but as2 was like 7 years ago and drag race has only exploded in popularity since then so i’m sure raven would’ve wanted to come back by now.

Seriously, detox’s performance was not good and it's supposed to be a talent show; poor autotune, getting paint everywhere from smacking(not playing) a drum, and showing your ass while rolling around on the floor being sexy isn't a talent??? Adore wasn't perfect, a little pitchy but it was good and she wrote that cool song with a lot more lyrics than detox’s song. there are so many brilliant moments in here. Bebe's dance in particular I thought was so incredibly beautiful. these queens are also talented and they all deserve to be here.
Gia was so incredibly underrated. For one wearing a kimono like that would be extremely heavy to move around in as fluidly as she did. And learning those fan movements is something I tried to learn back in japan for festivals and events and it is incredibly difficult to make it look as soft and elegant as it did with Gia. So underrated.
The talent show isn't actually to show a talent, the judges want a gag, rarely anyone that really was amazing at their talent would win because the audience and ru would rather have funny content

people rarely understand how difficult it is to play the violin... obviously all instruments require skill, and it can be hard to appreciate when you don't know the amount of work that goes into mastering a piece
I mean, I don't play the violin. I can't appreciate the complexities of the piece, that's something up to the queen to convey.

I think Thorgy didn’t get the praise she deserved, but that piece was fairly easy for a professional violinist (which she is). Still an impressive set and my favorite of them.
To me it seemed like it really clashed with the background music. It sounded like she was very pitchy and no notes seemed to be on point I don't know if that's just the piece, if she could not hear herself play due to the background music or if the background music was just off.

whatever exactly, in the same way doing an Irish river dance isn’t the whole European continent. There are so many different beautiful cultures around the world, and they’re definitely under appreciated in Africa, why clump them all together?

It's bc for so long African-Americans didn't know their ancestry (which sucks) due to centuries of anglicized culture-erasure. So black people might see anything from Africa, and identify with it as a whole. It's a way for them to cling to some remnants of their identity. Nowadays, DNA tests show most slaves who came to the US are of West African and Sub-Saharan descent. But that doesn't stop African-American descendants from still clinging to the entire continent, including Egypt for some reason. Maybe it's just a force of habit. But so long as people from various countries in Africa can educate the masses about their various cultures, the better we can all see them as individual and separate from one another. It's always been interesting to learn about the colorful customs of each one.

it's just not accurate in this specific case because Bebe isn't african american, she's specifically from cameroon and representing her specific culture. that doesn't mean anyone who feels connected with it can't identify with it though ofc
