@@triptychz f2.8 is pretty damn fast on medium format. The 110mm F2.8 used in the video is the fastest lens Mamiya made for the RZ67 - everything else was f3.5 or higher. Lenses faster than f2.8 are very uncommon on medium format SLRs in general.

sometimes the tools are over rated, light meter for cloudy photography is one of those things that you would hear about in LA and every agents tells you YOU NEED IT. The reality is production houses will sell ice to an Eskimo. Everyone gets antsy when you say you don't need this or that. but lets see who turn a profit first because this is a business after all, the guy who needs a $500 light meter to take a single photo or a guy who is familiar with camera science and color enough to save my movie, photoshoot, documentaries and all the productions in-between $500 from the first second i hire "him". Not to mention the time that would be wasted checking light levels with every new scene. Like im sure he's got a method to his madness but im seeing a whole lot of madness in this video.
But then he needs to shave his moustache off and that goes against all his morals of spending more money when he can save it. Hipsters are saving the economy of second hand goods. Without them how else are we gonna sell things we would otherwise throw in the trash?

@@lillyjammer26gamingandfursuits If you look at the camera lens while the photos are being taken, you will see a small "gap" at the outer end of the lens. This is the ring of the screw-on filter. Based on the transparency of the filter, which can be seen earlier in the video when paint was applied, you can see that the filter hardly or not at all reduces the incident light, and is therefore probably an ND 0.00 or ND 0.03. Personally, I think a Skylight would be a better choice, even though painting a Skylight filter is an expensive affair as it might damage the coating of the filter. And a little tip on the subject of filters: A camera lens should always have at least some filter screwed on for protection purposes, because damaging the coating on the lens glass itself would be very expensive. A cheap ND filter is completely sufficient. It is also popular to use a Skylight filter as a lens protector because it also reduces Rayleigh scattering.
@@lillyjammer26gamingandfursuits By the way, the "Mamiya Sekor Z 110mm 1:2.8" being used in the video is not a zoom lens, but a slight tele-lens commonly used for portrait and fashion photography, while the "normal lens" might be something like 80mm for medium format roll film cameras. Accordingly for a 35mm film the "normal focal length" would be 50mm and a slight tele-lens (common in portrait/fashion) would be around 80mm.

This shot on medium format, which means the photo naturally has a much shallower DOF, so the camera easily focuses past the blue. It's like how with a wide aperture you can easily take a photo with the camera against a fence and still get a vlear image. You get the tint of the colour but you don't get a sharp line where the colour is
You make a great job with your 67 Mamiya. The only now-days problem, at least on my side, is still the price of film and process (except for B/W that I process by my own, not so cheap but quite affordable even for amateur as I am). I love your Seconic meter. I use two old analog intruments: a Pentax Spotmeter and, for wide range reading a Sekonic Lunasix, both still good meters

Presumably it was a very subtle ND filter that got ruined not the lens itself, hard to tell it's even there on most of the pictures too guessing because it seems like a paint pen so it's opaque and blocks light instead of adding a green hue like if it were translucent so the only way to really work with it is to have the subject far enough away to blur it in/out of the foreground

Did I just see a mustacho kill a lense with paint to have a render cheaper than any phone editing app ?
Presumably it was a very subtle ND filter that got ruined not the lens itself, hard to tell it's even there on most of the pictures too guessing because it seems like a paint pen so it's opaque and blocks light instead of adding a green hue like if it were translucent so the only way to really work with it is to have the subject far enough away to blur it in/out of the foreground
If he didn't have a mustache I wouldn't have known he was the photographer.
