In my family Rachel we call that a ,"Gizo." And can be made with beef chicken or pork same cooking concept , but nice to see it on CZcams ! Gizo from the word Gizar my mother used to say , "Gizo ya sta listo ven a Comer y Caliente tortilla! !She passed in 2019 but every time I cook a Gizo she's in the kitchen with me.. Thank you .
Nice story
I’ve never toasted the shells but it makes sense… it’ll help keep them from being doughy. THankYou🥰
Toasting the pasta first is so interesting. Never have seen that done before! Another awesome recipe. Thank you Rachel!
This is a very traditional way to cook the pasta in Mexico, toasting it first and then adding broth or a tomatoe sauce.
Like you toast rice it fries the starch
It makes the texture and taste so much better
I like this and will make it good dish for the winter. Thank You for sharing ‼️
I like mine a little darker than she does hers. Not burned but to have some real dark spots through out the dish 🤤
Oh Rachel, my grandmother used to make this for my brother and I growing up in Rome, NY. It was SO good! I doubt I can make it nearly as good as she but everything I've tried of yours has been outstanding and my son loves it just as much as I did. I just love what you do here, you make it so easy to follow and for a single dad, it sure makes it easier. Thank you for creating this channel for ME! Hello from beautiful Tulsa, OK.

Rachel, when l suddenly became a single parent with 3 children & a baby, l made conchitas with ground meat & also just with potatoes, what my budget would in 1970. Noe, as a great grandmother, they & my children still love it ! Thank you for this delicious memories ! ❤🍜🥗

A hearty bowl of warmth.
This looks so delicious..
A must try for me..
A childhood memory in food! And this is such a crowd pleaser to anybody you serve it to. Just bummed as I wanted to make your poblano casserole for dinner this evening but with all that happened this week, I never got to the store. However you've given me the perfect idea what to make for dinner as I've got all the ingredients including soy ground beef for Johnny. Here's wishing you my dear amiga and your Ron a much warmer and wonderful week as we start to say goodbye to February.
Yes my friend, I can still see the kitchen and momma making it, it's amazing how sopitas like this can bring back amazing sweet memories, I hope your Johnny likes it and I hope you both are doing great, I am much more grateful after all this mess, the sunshine today was beautiful. Thank you so much dear special friend.❤🥰
Muchas gracias Rachel, your recipes are state of the art! I wish I could thank you in person. I live in the RGV in Pharr. Maybe someday you will allow all of your fans to a get together so we can meet you and of course your Ron too.
Fantastic Cook! Homemade and Delicious. Thank you @
Hello there Rachel. It is always so good to see you. This recipe looks absolutely delicious 😋🤤 thanks for everything you do. Your hard work and dedication is outstanding 👍💪
Hi Rachel, I remove the grease from the pan by folding a paper towel into a small square and then I pick up the paper towel with my tongs, then I soak up the grease with the paper towel. I’m sure you know how to do this but there might be someone watching who doesn’t know this trick. Thank you for sharing your gorgeous recipes.🥰
Just made this soup! Absolutely delicious, all of Rachael’s recipies that I have tried are amazing. Just do exactly as she says, absolutely delicious!
Thanks for sharing your recipes. I love the fact that you are bilingual. Me gusta hacer sopita de fideos y bow tie . Bendiciones
This looks so delicious. I go the easy lazy way. I boil the conchitas in water until tender. I don't over cook them. Then I cook the ground beef add any seasoning. Once the conchitas are tender, I drain them add the ground beef and a small can of tomato sauce and that's it. This is when I don't have much money. It's very inexpensive and super quick. You can buy these small bags of shells or other uncooked pasta that you can purchase like 3 little bags for .89 cents. This looks tastier and good when you have a cold or a cold winter day. Thanks for this recipe that I've never seen before.
Now I know what’s for dinner over here thank you ….. your the best
This looks absolutely fantastic. I love all your recipes, but this really caught my attention!

Another awesome recipe that I've made and WOW so good!! I love making your recipes!
I'm a relatively new follower of your recipes, and I am seeing something that I didn't initially. It's the tiny details of your cooking that are the real magic! It would never have occurred to me to toast something like the shells, or the rice in some recipes, and many other small things you do, like holding your garlic back a couple of minutes while you "sweat" your onions and similar things. I've always heard the old saying, "The devil is in the details" - but in your case, it's GOTTA be a little bit of heaven instead ;-) Thank you for sharing and EMPHASIZING those small things so that those of us who grew up with moms who mostly cooked simply for edibility and not so much "finesse" (for lack of a better word) can learn and pass it on to OUR children and grandchildren. That's not to denigrate my mom, but to simply acknowledge that her priorities often had to be elsewhere... the world is not always kind. I bless her memory always, and I bless you for sharing your unique gifts with us all.
Be well! 💜💙❤💚
Nice soup! As an Italian, I would top that with pecorino Romano and PERFECTO!

I find when I watch your videos ,I have to binge , “ one is not enough “ I love the ideas I get from your videos as I live alone so cooking for one self can be very stressful , love your dishes although I cannot access all the spices or cuts of meat , this will let me experiment, thanks 🙏
OMGosh that looks so very delicious! I’m making this and sharing with my grandkids!!

I'm always watching your video ,greetings from a Filipina from California , we have some food almost similar of your cooking ,but there's a difference in it , that's why my next food I want at least to prepare is authentic Mexican food ! Superb taste , thanks Rachel
Oh Rachel that looks yummy. Don't recall my mom ever cooking that but I'm going try it myself one day. The shells I add to my caldos once in a while. Thanks your vedios are awesome.....
I love your cooking so much, and you do such a great job showing how to do it. It looks so good I could almost eat it with the cilantro - almost, but not quite. Fortunately, I can just leave it out and enjoy all your deliciousness!
👍❤
@@rachelcookswithlovel.
I make this all the time reminds me of my grandpa ❤❤❤ your recipe is bomb!
Your the best cook ever! Love your videos
I've tried several of you recipes, and they are very delicious thanks to you.
Yes, children do love it and old folks too!
looks delicious! reminds me of childhood
I love the shell soup they are my favorite 😻
As always Rachel your food and recipes are delicious....my mom used to make this the same way as you....She Used to Tell me the reason to Why they Add only 1 potato is to Absorb and Mellow out ANY Acidity the Tomato paste releases into the caldo and the Reason for toasting pasta and rice is to Cook the starch out and keep that tackiness starch so the rice or pasta doesn't stick together ...I love to sprinkle Mexican cojito cheese over the top ..yummy❣️
Rachel I love how you cook in a nice warm and friendly kitchen I hate it when the cook all of a sudden is in a high classed kitchen. It looses the warmth and authenticity. ❤️
I can only imagine how tasty this is. I know my family is going to want it all the time.
SO YUMMY LOOKING‼️😋😋😋
Thank u now I can make this for my 90 yr. Old Grandmother
