    Started tutorials and relearning HTML/CSS last year, started freelancing 8 months ago, started getting consistent clients 3 months ago, now got hired by a startup to build an entire platform that's taking all my time and forced me to fire all my other clients because the job is so big and paying me well enough, with potential for further advancement in the startup world when I finish this app. It's been quite a ride, and it's only the beginning still!
    Just wanted to say thanks Stefan, your video guidance has been crucial through this whole process. Thank you!

      @@StefanMischook Looking forward to when I can do something similar, have someone I used to work along side of who's doing project management on the side have done some minor work in the past for, as suffering from some ill health right now but using the latter part of my recovery to do some work when I'm able to :)
      As I said where I am now with web development as a whole is really impressive (especially with the well actually have three not two servers, one with an actual licence though for Windows Server 2008 a private licence not from a server/web host online that is, with a genuine but developers licence for SQL Server 2014 I think it is, just of course lacks any official support from Microsoft, find it really interesting that's all). Was literally thinking the 2008 one is bound to be really old so found somewhere for a link for their developers part and installed it. Did a similar thing (only works for a year though) for RHEL a genuine developers licence for the subscription equivalent of CentOS and is exactly identical.
      Also doing some hobby multimedia work as well, thinking along side it occasionally doing some work in that or rather doing drafting work as that's one of the first bits of work I used to do when I started out after here further education college as well (not sure about this though to be fair though maybe too much work we'll see).

      @@hinalust Reasonably well now thanks and there's no need to call me Sir, Jez is what most people call me :)
      It's sort of full stack really, learnt a lot by working in web development rather than I did at University, now full stack certainly as I didn't really call it that back then but now certainly, just need to start working when I'm ready.
      Yeah bit challenging at times having an Ileo in the form of a J pouch (due to the shape of it) got a lot of bloating right now trying to work out what's causing it lol, could be just the adjustment phase of it I think though but shouldn't last more than the next six months I hope.

In that respect would you kindly provide any tips for those who may want to hold down a regular 9 to 5 while perusing a freelance career part-time so as to build confidence, clients and a portfolio? • @johndebord7802
      @johndebord7802 Před 6 lety +1

      forrestang Just think of everything you learn as a getting another tool for your toolbet.
      Then when you start coding projects you're probably not going to be building stuff from scratch.
      That would be super inefficient.
      Instead you'll be taking "frameworks" and building on top of them.

      Don't bother with frameworks until you've learned HTML, CSS, Javascript, and little bit of PHP or Python. By then, you'll realize what framework is worth your time.

Basically, after a person completes the beginner's course in Studioweb a course ongoing about earning your first $100-10000 within 12 months. Sort of a how-to guide from prospecting through billing and starting the cycle over again. Thanks again for your contribution!

      Then only take on projects you feel you can take on. Start small, grow big.
      My fear of freelancing is whether I will be able to get any clients whatsoever. I could literally be homeless in no time if I don't. While I'm unemployed I get social assistance. As soon as I start a business, I get 4 months of social assistance, then I'm completely on my own.
