Brooke doesn't seem to understand that when a husband loses his wife and when children lose their mother, they need time to grieve and adjust and that doesn't happen overnight. It is too soon for Ridge to move on. Brooke said she could be a good mother to Thomas and the girls but she really just wanted Ridge, she was just prepared to tolerate Thomas and the girls.

And in this case Tomas mother did not like Brooke so he picked up on that energy.
