    Although I have caught a few fish on glide baits before, I definitely think I am still in the beginner phase of learning this bait.
    This is the start of a video series all about glide bait fishing and I just wanted to take you guys a long while I figure this bait out.
    BassFishingHQ is dedicated to teaching people how to catch more and bigger bass. I will go over different bass fishing tips & techniques that will put more fish in the boat or on the shore. Whether you are just starting out or a seasoned tournament angler, my goal is to help you catch more bass.

    The first time I ever threw a glide bait I was throwing a S-waver and on the first cast I caught a 2 pounder. Great info Ty, love seeing you learn along with us as your audience, keep it up!

    I think you balance monolog with fishing very well. I have found that I learn new lures best on days that the fishing is good. That way, I can start out, catch whatever number satisfies me, then switch to the bait I'm learning for an hour and a half or so, go back to my confidence lures for about 1/2 an hour. It makes me feel that I haven't completely blown one of my rare fishing days with a skunk. It also gives ne confidence that, yes, the fish are biting, and that helps me throw the new bait with more confidence and patience.

    I started throwing glide baits back in November so I'm still learning them myself. I'm looking forward to more videos and learning more with you. Thanks for the great content and sharing your fishing knowledge.

    I was recently given an Arashi glide bait as a gift. I caught a 4 lb’er the 2nd time I fished with it. I’ve since picked up 4 more Arashi lures and a dedicated XH rod just for that lure. It is a very addictive style of fishing!

    So far the only thing I've caught on a glide bait is a catfish. As far as Bass, I have had lots of followers, but I can't seem to get them to commit.

      Stick with it since around November I've caught more than a few 1.5 to 2 pounders, several 4+ cats/large/ smallies, a 5.6 large mouth, a 6.5 pound striper, a 13 pound carp, and finally last weekend hooked a musky pot she threw the lure. Oh and a trout and a crappie. All on the Arashi or the sneaky pete.

    I bought a rod to tinker with deeper cranking last year-the Lews KVD CC5, rated for up to 2 oz. lures. It was a decent fit for the S-Waver with a much slower rebound than a flipping stick. I just swapped out the reel to one with 20# fluorocarbon.

    A couple of good rod twitches with a pause works pretty good coming up after a piece of cover where you think the fish should be it’s almost like a reaction bite

    Definitely a bait I want to try and use more ( along with so many others) Great instructional video as always . The only thing I’d add is when trying to learn a new bait do it on a pond ( lake or river ) that you are familiar with . Less likely to lose your bait if you know exactly what you’re throwing it into .

    The most important thing about starting out glidebait/swimbait fishing is PUT ALL OTHER RODS AWAY....Another thing and this will save lots of money, make sure the rod your using had accurate baits weight limits. Example the dobyns xp 806 says it's good fir 2-8oz... it's not it's good for max 4.5 maybe 5oz. Also use a more parabolic rid for treble baits and a more fast action stiffer rod for weedless or top jighook baits. Great video bud

  • @ericfields1165
    @ericfields1165 Před 2 lety

    Wait till you fish a big glide, when it moves 3ft off centerline it is amazing! Check out the Baitsanity Explorer it is a "cheaper" big open water glide. It weighs 5oz so you will need special gear. I don't have alot of money, but I invested in the Baitsanity and it is worth every penny, once you see it in the water.
    Thank you for all of your videos!
    Eric

    @Mr.Higgs. Před 2 lety

    One point about that 180 movement to face the fish. I think with the bass eating the bait head first, that knot is far in their mouth. My theory is, more of having a possibility of having the line being cut. Just a thought, not saying it's true.

  • @kerrysanders6668
    @kerrysanders6668 Před rokem

    I find glide baits to be an excellent way to find fish. Getting bit on them is another thing entirely. It's like a different skill. I can get great follows and I do catch fish on them, but I now use them more to lure big fish into the area and then I'll hit them with a drop shot or jig or another secondary bait. I have yet to master the actual bite.

    With the “glides” it’s really almost like jerkbait fishing. It’s such an incredible bite as well! Be careful man you get that glide bait bug and you’ll end up spending $1200 on a JDM rod/reel combo like some of us sikos lol
