Duo sailing with our previous Lagoon - Tobago Cays to Martinique - Sailing Greatcircle (ep.339)

- On the second Greatcircle we never sailed to Santa Lucia and the Grenadines. On the first Greatcircle we didn't go to the Grenadines either. We were there on a charter cat over 20 years ago and on Seatramp in January 2019.
Not too much worries about the definition of circumnavigating, let's just sail to Martinique again as the new rudders are already arriving there.

Yes, overshot on the B&G boat speed adjustment. Looks like you’re now about 15-18% too high. Knock that off the calibration constant and you should be good. You want to see the blue current arrow actually coming from different directions from time to time - never happen with the discrepancy you’re showing now unless you’re just in huge current.

The problem was s that it was the other way around just before, I had the sog related calibration on 120% before. Don’t feel like doing all the calibration steps again for the last couple of months so we will just look at the sails. Luckily sog is sog

Was intersting your comments on the 52S there is one for sale in NZ that is virtually brand new good looking boat that seems to do good NM over a 24 hour period
On major crossings our average on the Lagoon was around 190 nm
@@CatGreatcircle what does the Outremer do on average? 220-240 ?
@malgraham351 yes, of course both are rules of thumb for the big trade wind crossings, north transat east west, Pacific and Indian. Coral and anafyura seas where similar but the south Atlantic east west seems to be slower
Upwind in terms of VMG the difference would be a whole lot bigger

Which place you think the best view for you
I notice your boat and many others from the round the world trip are on the market. BioTrek and Saga and now GreatCircle. Are you looking for another boat given the number of problems encountered? I thought the O 55 was the best thing out there.
We sold the boat on the day we bought it and will handover the keys later this year. Big chance our next boat will be an Outremer again.

Was Maroro the original ex - Greatcircle? Or just an identical Lagoon 52S? Thank you for another great video!
It’s the very last one built, #20, we were #8 against in the direction of 200 Flybridge versions of the 52 so it is understandable that Lagoon focussed on the flybridge version
You were saying you like the combination of speed and comfort of the Lagoon 52S. Why did you buy an Outremer then? Or did Lagoon stop making the S version? (I didn't catch that)
So, you broke Travelboast. I guess It's new to them that someone would boast about more than a circumnavigation... 🙂
They did stop making the 52. And the 52S has comfort and a bit of speed. The Outremer has similar comfort better in some aspects less in other but clearly more speed
Is there and update about the voyage?
I’ll probably make 1 episode to cover Martinique to St Maarten not to bore you too much with a lot of same same mid may we’ll start Bermuda, Acores, Europe.
O and the new rudders are delivered and installed by Outremer
