Thay thought the Metta Sutra on December 31, 2009, as part of a special Dharma Talk for the New Year, encouraging us to practice loving-kindness mediation in the first three days of the new year.

May I be peaceful and light in my body and in my mind.
May I be safe and free from accidents.
May I be free from anger, unwholesome states of mind, fear and worries.
May I know how to look at myself with the eyes of
understanding and compassion.
May I be able to recognize and touch the seeds of joy and happiness in myself.
May I learn how to nourish myself with joy each day.
May I be able to live fresh, solid and free.
May I not fall into the state of indifference or be caught in
the extremes of attachment or aversion.
May you be peaceful and light in your body and in your mind.
May you be safe and free from accidents.
May you be free from anger, unwholesome states of mind, fear and worries.
May you know how to look at yourself with the eyes of understanding and
compassion.
May you be able to recognize and touch the seeds of joy and happiness in
yourself.
May you learn how to nourish yourself with joy each day.
May you be able to live fresh, solid and free.

In the deepest darkest depths of trauma, I started doing this meditation in the hopes that it would help me heal. In a “fake it till you make it” kind of way, it took a year of practice before I felt my heart soften and open enough to let go and love myself and my abusers.

Im beginning this practice as a "new year" for me. My future. The lives that i touch. I am Grateful for this late, great man. His words and deeds will live impact others in perpeptuity. Gone, never forgotten.
You would have healed naturally in that time. It was time that healed you not this shallow wishful thinking.

I think the phrase "practice it until you become it" is more helpful than "fake it until you make it." It really is a practice, as you suggested!
I have been doing this meditation 3 times a day. Yesterday I saw a big rainbow in my street for the bery first time since moving in here in 1993. I do believe in Buddhist terms this is a good sign.
I just ran into a rainbow yesterday. And I see them often it rains. Lot and I see a lot of pretty sunsets
The world is crazy like that! A couple months ago, I lost my laptop, which I was quite upset about at the time. For a completely unrelated reason, I tried meditating for the first time last week, and immediately afterwards I found the laptop, with it's charger, lying on a chair in the next room over.
Thay was in that rainbow, smiling on us all. 🙏🏼

Many people live in isolation, feeling unloved, continually seeking for what seems to be only an elusive dream. Here is a quote from Steps to Knowledge about love, in contrast to the harsh separativeness we often feel in life.
"Today do not be alone. Do not isolate yourself in fear or in your negative imagination... Do not think you are alone for this is a fantasy. Realize that those who are with you are not persuaded by your errors or dismayed by your failures but recognize your true nature and your Knowledge. Those who are with you today love you without exception. Receive their love, for this will confirm that you are not alone, and this will confirm that you do not wish to be alone. Why else would you want to be alone except to hide your pain, your sense of failure and your sense of guilt? These things which are the result of your separation only isolate you further... Allow yourself to receive the great gifts of love which are due you and dispel any sense of inadequacy and unworthiness that are merely the residue of your separate, imagined life." I've been doing this multiple times a day every day for the last two weeks. Today when he said "may all beings be peaceful..." I felt love for the world with my whole body. Very cool experience. I'm curious as to where this will take me if I keep going further.

Such a great a meditation, it’s unfortunate the audio is a little off. It was difficult to understand so me of the words.
It may help to use an online master program, that uses AI to master audio recordings. They are easy to find and use.

essa relação como um muro 7 como uma pessoa que quiser ela deixar lá na frente aí diferente o potente é diferente do que as pessoas as pessoas querem mas o poder que as pessoas diferente não é como se eu poder como poder do mundo como poder quisera da santidade o seu dom você não tem como dividir seu bom você vai dividir legal a benção você vai levar o quê que eles mandam você levar mas você ele é diferente você é diferente você não pode dividir o seu dom ninguém alarme não é permitido só é permitido você levar o que você pode realmente oferecer para ele morrer algum dia você vai carregar para nunca pode abrir e falar o que se passa entre você e ele para outras pessoas não pode não pode é proibido por quê Porque se você levar abrir o jogo o que se passa no mundo que você convive com eles você vai ficar você vai ficar fraca o que que é a facilidade e diminui a sua habilidade diminui o seu o seu corpo ele não funciona na hora que você vai editar a meditação preciso do Espírito entender e lidar com a meditação lidar com o poder da meditação alimentação não adianta nem você que você não recebe é com você mesmo você tem que estar de coração bom de alma bom de pensamento bom e de alma para bem aí você vai receber o que você quer levar o dom levar as coisas de Deus levar as coisas lá para pessoa chinês tudo que você pede dragão a imagem tendo salário e vocês querem mais que vocês vocês adoram eles vai te dar tudo isso que só você vai saber mas nem mundo sabe o tanto que é o poder de Deus no plano espiritual eles se envolvem daquela imagem que que ela marcou para eles que ela imagem imagem da Ração deles afirmação deles ali A imagem dele ali é o poder deles então tudo que vem para você é bem-vindo de hoje tudo que você pede você é querido você é maravilhoso quando uma criança chinês nada já nasce com símbolo dele moça cada vez mais depositar lá cada vez sabedoria e levar a força entendeu então a força vem através de uma criança uma criança Você pode levar em cima do mundo daquele ali do agradar agradar tipo você levar uma pessoa criança ele está grávida o mundo você lá Sagrada que fica com raiva para aquela criança é paz e sabedoria é o relançamento da sabedoria daquela criança que vai chegar para o mundo ali para escolhe uma criança daquela para ser muito diferente ser uma pessoa diferente se uma pessoa Ungida por ele cobraram por ele entendeu a paz que você precisa no mundo espiritual por isso que a criança é importante para os mundo para as pessoas para todo mundo que ama uma criança Ela é escolhida mais aquela criança a sabedoria para aquela criança quando a criança é criança miudinha eles vai dar esperança para cá daquela sabedoria que existe eles podem eles podem estar ali a presença todos instalar é assim no mundo espiritual já ensina já vem a criança já preparada toda criança já sabe no mundo espiritual quando ela quando ela vai nascer ela já vai nascer com aquela intenção pediu o Mundo Existe existe o salário de vocês eles vai passar aprender a linguagem o que que é o mundo que que é cobra que que o que você faz vai passar um creme para passar mas tá sabedoria para ele tá na terra já conhece já lá já sabe quem é ele quando uma criança no pé dos instalar e não pergunta para ela se realmente ela sente o que que era certo deixar lá daquele pergunta ela vai responder Ela vai ir mas a alma dela conhece a alma dela sabe então tudo que você planta você é colhido por que você que ele quer é de pano espiritual de Deus lá no céu todos eles faz parte para Deus quando vem lá vem lá vem bem vindo para terra de vocês a missão de hoje é essa na hora que eu tiver preparado mais que eles me

@Louisa Hadley I was struggling with it too and I thought it was just because I am hard of hearing. Here are a few things that helped me, perhaps they will be helpful to you as well: The transcript is in the description box, and if you turn the English captions on, they will show up on the screen when he speaks, with the long breaks of silence in between, and you can follow along with what he says with the captions and transcript. The full version is linked in the description box as well and I found that recording to be better with the whole Dharma talk on there as well, over an hour long. I hope this is helpful to you, friend. 🙏🏾💙
