That’s the neat part: You Aren’t.
we can only hope that, uh, authorities finally allow each human to exist, fulfill basic needs without needing to work, and *then* try to help people move to safer places, have refuges.
The story garnt tells is not the most radioactive man, but the most severe case of radiation burns.
The actual most iradiated man is Albert Stevens (1887-1966), also known as patient CAL-1 and most radioactive human ever, was a house painter from Ohio who was subjected to an involuntary human radiation experiment and survived the highest known accumulated radiation dose in any human. On May 14, 1945, he was injected with 131 kBq (3.55 µCi) of plutonium without his knowledge or informed consent.
Over 20 years time he accumulated a dose of 64SV, around 3SV per year, the current allowed yearly dose for a radiation worker in the USA is 0.05SV
Do you have or know of a documentary to learn more about these instances?
@@Valmordi there is little other then the wikipedia page and few short article here and there.
the best account of the entire experiment can be found here: ehss . energy . gov /ohre/roadmap/achre/chap5_2.html
@@LodewijkVrije thank you
Sounds horrifying that he had that injected in him without his knowledge, nor consent... 0_0
Can't paint houses in Ohio bruh...
The demon core story was crazy since one of the people killed by it was testing on it by literally keeping a dome meant to put the core into criticality (not a good thing) up by propping one side up with a screwdriver. Death by Radiation is never fun.
The demon core memes are so weird because my dad used to tell me about it as bed time stories.
The core was meant to make it go critical? Or was it meant to keep it contained
@@hanakoisbestgirl4752 Not 100 percent sure but i believe the dome or blocks they used were made of material that would make the core go critical for testing, both times people died from it were when they accidentally surrounded it with too many blocks or completely covered the dome.
Despite the Nuclear Horror stories, one of Kyle Hill’s biggest things is that he’s pro-nuclear energy and says we could solve climate change quite quickly with it.
And btw nuclear power is much more safe in comparison to normal in terms of death per energy. And this difference is super huge.
@@FirstLast-wk3kc yes, that is one of his pro-nuclear arguments.
@@purpledevilr7463 indeed
@@FirstLast-wk3kcTo add, carbon emissions are surprisingly low compared to other sources of non-renewable energy. The only issue is the very toxic radioactive waste which may take lifetimes to break down.
@@gian7583 all you have to do is dig a hole and bury the waste, honestly.
*_ABOUT WATER BOTTLES HAVING AN EXPIRY DATE_*
When the packaged bottle is exposed to sunlight or heat, the polyethene terephthalate (PET) present in the plastic bottle start leaching into the water, which can make it hazardous for the health along with the taste as well.
Furthermore, bottles are not 100% sealed/air and watertight - overtime, gasses can seep in and out - the chlorine used to keep harmful bacteria at bay will eventually seep out and bacteria can still grow in sealed water bottles after a while.
So, mainly, the expiry date is because of the bottle deterioration, but after a long enough time, harmful microbes can grow in the water too, depending on the storing conditions.
The important point you make to emphasize is "exposed to sunlight or heat". Also there is almost no chance for bacteria to grow in sealed bottles, simple water is not a sufficient medium for bacteria.
i dont know if is the same story, but here in Brazil, there is a similar story about the xtray machine
the Goiânia accident happend in 1987, and as far as i know, somebody stole a forgotten radiotherapy source from an abandoned hospital , and found this glowing stuff and showed to everyone, and a lot of people went sick, almost 250 people
"luckily" the material was caesium, that is much less radioative than uranium or stuff like that, but still is the biggest (or one of the biggest) radioactive accidents here in Brazil
Saw the very informative Kyle Hill video on that. They had to evacuate almost the entire city. One of the saddest events there was a girl thought the glowing radioactive cesium was fairy dust, and spread the toxic glitter on her arms.
radioactive cesium is actually far more radioactive then uranium, even weapons grade highly enriched uranium. Thats why its used in medical devices, they need highly intense sources of x-rays. Uranium for the most part decay (mostly) via alpha radiation which doesnt have much penetrating power. You can safely handle uranium with your hands with no really danger. The weird thing to wrap your mind around with half-lives of elements, the small the half-life the more radioactive it is. Cesium is ~30yr half life, while uranium is hundreds of thousands to billions of yrs.
that was the last story they were talking about tho
It's interesting how we feel differing degrees of invincibility over the years. The older you get the more aware of your mortality and squishiness you become.
Still, even at this age, I feel like as adults, a lot of us aren't aware of just how insignificant we are against the grand scheme of our planets existence, never mind the expanse of space beyond our atmosphere. Like we little more than one great natural disaster from extinction and like, it just doesn't matter at all.
ok
That's deep
That first part, fair, it's annoying and disheartening to grasp, still thrive with bigger knowledge as well as your own aging.... But while the natural disaster concern is valid, the rest of your attitude here is...suspect.
Mishandling of nuclear energy doesn't make it a bad powersource.
Oil did more damage to the environment than any nuclear disasters in history
yes im talking about that Gulf of Mexico oil spill (which is still discharging oil up to this day)
I don’t remember them saying anything bad about nuclear energy
If I was living in Japan, I know I probably would get the same stuff Aki used to Earthquake proof her house with and I probably would make sure that I picked up some air tight food storage for all my products. Especially since air tight storage helps extend the life and freshness of your food so you don't have to go out and pick stuff up from the store as often. Then I'd get a canning set up going and I would start making my own canned goods just like my Great-Grandparents since we make a lot of food by scratch. I only pray that should I be in a situation where a natural disaster hit that I would have a well stocked pantry and my place has been thoroughly protected.
speaking of disasters. There is a major solar storm that occurs every 11 years which essentially causes a planetwide EMP. And we only just now not felt it because the solar winds has missed everytime so far. The last time being in the 1910s or something where there wasn't actually that much to be affected by this phenomenon? And the most recent one in 2012 missed us by 9 days.
So just in case. I say build up some funds for 2025 to replace some electrical equipment that might get fked.
I think that emp thing only overload closed circuits, so if we can switch off everything electric the day the storm hits we should be fine
@@davidtitanium22 that was the recommended course of action yes but we have plenty of devices that refuses to hard turn off without extra steps. Thats why I say build up funds to replace some gear you are defo going to lose.
So switch off mac and ps5 for the week. Got it.
Do you not already have everything important plugged into a surge protector?
@@Kari84075 might not be effective. just safer to just turn them off.
Invest in a propane heater (with tanks of fuel), a water filter, and cases of cheap ramen for holding out in a home during a disaster.
And have a bug-out bag of camping supplies (camping stove, sleeping bag, tent or camping hammock, cold & wet weather clothes, water filter, etc.) for fleeing the area and camping in the wilderness.
The part about you lying down and opening your mouth to prevent a shockwave from potentially killing or maiming you is true. It's because of the pressure from the shockwave and it gets released through your orifices in your face. It also prevents your teeth from being shattered by the shockwave.
It's something we had to learn when we did the grenades portion of U.S. Army Basic Training.
you sound pretty prepared so good for you guys
The weird stories they were talking about regarding people dying or being greatly affected by radiation reminded me of a video I saw that discussed this one incident in Romania (I think) where some hikers got stranded in a snow storm out in the mountains. As they were stumbling through the snow they happened upon two large cylinders that were warm to the touch and they spent the night near them to survive. Turns out the cylinders were nuclear waste that had been improperly disposed of and only one hiker wound up surviving after receiving treatment and experiencing extreme radiation sickness.
If I'm not mistaken the most radioactive man was begging for them to let him die but they kept him alive to study him because they'd never had anyone be exposed to that much and they wanted to see what happens (I feel like that's what was spoken about on the Mr Ballen video he did about him). There is also pictures of the guy online but I'd say look it up at your own risk as its awful to see. They literally said he was clinically dead because he had no DNA but looked fine at first. It's crazy!
yeh no. he was kept alive by the insistence of his family. everytime his heart stopped he would be revived cause the family said so and despite the medical staffs' efforts he later died cause the body can't simply survive that much radiation.
Im not surprised at the results when your trying to save a man who's literally melting
He basically turned into a ghoul from fucking Fallout
They didn’t, in fact they wanted to let him die but his family insisted in trying to save him despite the low chance. One of the nurses who was treating him was interviewed and said “we all knew that he was going to die, however none of us said it out loud because it would then demoralize everyone else in doing their job,” it’s clear the nurses and by extension the doctor did as they were obligated to do by the family.
It took a lot from the doctors to convince his wife that he could not be saved and she should sign a do not resuscitate paper in order to spare him from anymore pain.
I think it's more so the plastic bottle goes off moreso than the water. The expiration date on a bottle of water is typically when the plastic would start to deteriate or whatever and leech into the water and that can make you sick.
Correct me if I’m wrong, I might be mixing up a detail from a different video Kyle Hill did, but isn’t the incident Garnt is talking about the same one where they suggested a marrow transplant and they found out the guy’s marrow had turned to irradiated gel like a Steins Gate banana?
I think so yes.
I think they are talking about plainly difficult, he also talks about those kind of manufacturing accidents and irradiation accidents
This discussion reminds me of the anime movie Barefoot Gen. It's like Grave of the Fireflies but way more horrifying
I think it’s funny that Joey keeps making sure we know he’s not saying the mouth thing works… because if it doesn’t work… well the person will be dead anyway. So it’s not like they can find him and say “hey I died, it didn’t work!” 🤣🤣🤣
8:41 it's a great Brew Video. czcams.com/video/2mMza3HMohw/video.html
tldr: there was a Japanese guy working at a power plant handling nuclear waste and someone messed up the procedure and he got flashed with a fuck ton of Radiation. he was fine for like an hour but the radiation destroyed the inside of his cells to the point that he couldn't make new cells so he was slowly dying. (you know the saying that every 7 years you're a new person because all of your cells have died and repopulated; he was like that but without the repopulation).
have a bunch of skin/bone graphs and blood donations his body was unable to redevelop and he slowly died in his hospital room as a skinless husk.
I love Brew
Nuke Advice: it’s true, also the mouth open is to prevent your ear drums from rupturing by opening your Eustachian tubes. Lying down is similar to with a grenade or mortar. Any shrapnel has less of a target, and this includes radiation from the immediate blast, not necessarily Gamma/Beta but UV, IR (thermal). Fallout is less of a concern with modern thermonuclear hydrogen devices and thankfully enforced and complied to treaties have banned the use of radiation based nuclear weapons like Cobalt bombs.
Countries, scarily are evolving their nuclear stockpiles to become clean and small, potentially so they can be used tactically; this threatens the theory of MAD and lowers the tolerance threshold of usage.
"Welcome! So, why have you chosen to become a CZcamsr?"
"...For the survival benefits."
Imagine being able to be prepared for a major disaster...
I still remember a reactor being taken out by a candle.. good times finding out out the insulation was super flammable.
the whole nuke shockwave this is true for most bombs and large ordinance its because if you keep your mouth closed the pressure difference between your lungs and the air will cause your lungs to explode inside of you. opening your mouth helps equalize the pressure
Not the water going off per say but the bottle/container it's in. The expiration date on plastic bottled water is there because after a certain amount of time the plastic slowly releases toxins into the water.
As a New Yorker that knows we are constantly targeted and get random natural disasters, I should make an emergency kit. I did watch the nuke videos because Times Square is always the sample city 😅
The isekai demon lord better watch out. Garnt is always prepared
It’s crazy how they talk abt this then the shit in turkey happens shows that we aren’t acc ready😭
10L of water!? This guy is gonna survive for a whole week of the apocalypse haha
That is the typical estimate time for disaster relief in Japan and most places in the world.
0:33 indicator 2:51 emergency rations 3:09
Honestly, I’m a little surprised there isn’t a Barefoot Gen reference in this
Would probably be an interesting solo vid for one of them to make
Maybe
Tornado Valley gotta be the seirdest place to choose to live. I know some people are just settled there and cant leave, but why CHOOSE to move there
The fallout isn't immediately devastating as such. Strontium, cesium, and so on, aren't necessarily that terrible. Especially compared to the effect of an on going fission reaction.
if you were prepared for it, it wouldnt be a disaster.
Ultimate survival storage during apocalypse:40kg of body fat and ground water
I will try my best, but I'm certain I'd eventually succumb long term after some life altering apocalyptic event. I think short term I'd do great, but I can't bother doing it for the rest of my life lol.
Short answer: no
At 11:00 It's actually way worse than that in Hisashi Ouchis case.
(WARNING GRAPHIC CONTENT)
Basically, from a biological point of view, the dude was dead the second that he got that lethal dose of radiation. At the time of exposure, his DNA got so mangled that it couldn't perform even the most basic functions for encoding proteins, we use proteins for anything and everything as far as cellular activity, proteins that help clear the cell of waste, proteins that signal cell based metabolic activity, proteins that help that cell mainten communication with its neighbours and the rest of the body...etc.
All of which were now completely nonfunctional.
That means that anything from environment damage to just mechanical wear on the body, to metabolic toxin accumulation were wreaking havoc on his body while his cells couldn't do their basic functions of maintenance of themselves and their environment; he literally decomposed while alive, all of the while he was probably in excruciating pain.
Damn those glowsticks! Lol.
1:57 oh please Garnt, Trash Taste can't afford to get writers! Xd
Radiation, it’s what makes Godzilla go around. In all seriousness, it’s a terrifying thing that should never be taking lightly. Be safe bros
that "glowsticks" story is real and was in Brazil. The whole place, hospital family and etc got contaminated.
The *_Golania Accident_* - an orphan source for radiotherapy was mishandled by people, 249 people contaminated, 4 deaths. Terrible.
What's even more sad is that it isn't the only instance of such a mishandling of an orphan source - there is also the *_CIudad Juarez Incident_* - about 4 000 people were exposed in that incident
You get a good dose of radiation and high energy particles every time you get on the plane and fly somewhere.

9:29 i will not buy british engenered product ever agin
No
Hopefully not

This is why garnt was the only one that survived, and started the darkest timeline
What happened why did the highlights channel died so hard? what did I miss why so many little views
Clip channels usually doesn't have consistent views or higher views. Since it's dependent whether the clip is recommended by the algorithm or the topic is interesting for people. What I see is that 20k-40k is the baseline and anything that goes beyond are the videos that got into people recommendations.
is it just me, or does the boy consider a lil too much that a nuclear explosion is a type of natural disaster?XD Less anime and more hiking my dudes!
Well it may not be a natural disaster but it definitely is one of the worst disaster that can happen
Water doesn't go off, the expiry date is for the plastic bottle.
Water absolutely can go off. Plastic bottles allow some gasses through - most people notice this when the bottles have been stored next to something like onions, and the water will start to taste like onion. Chlorine will also slowly evaporate from the bottle, leaving it susceptible to bacterial growth - the Health Dept in my US state recommends not storing tap water past 6 months (and most bottled water is just tap water).
4:11 stoopid joey, water cant go off, but can be contaminated due to the breakdown of particles in its container
.
Don't care
Ok
