Not a fair battle. It’s hard to beat a smell like La Nuit De L’Homme. The original, unreformulated was a masterpiece
Layton is simply a masterpiece. It has better performance and of course better materials and expensive well worked notes. YSL is a legendary classic but I think its not so good as a daily fragrance because it lacks performance and you wont get noticed, besides Layton changes from sweetness to fresh to a leathery spicy smell,,, its amazing

Peter Reinartz depends on the batch. There were few reformulations because of high demand in 2018 , there were too many people buying layton. I bought a new bottle in end 2019 and its amazing
Bernardo Frias the aroma chemicals PMD use are horrible in my opinion.
But yes if you like it that’s all that matters 👌

@Tanvir Ahmed Max 4-5hours with 4 sprays. Projection is really weak with the new formulation...it turns to a skin scent after approx. 1hr. I recommend everyone who is looking for Fall/Winter scents and needs a bit more Projection and longevity. Go for Parfums de Marly Layton (entry Level niche 140-200 EUR depending on Region) or Givenchy Gentleman EDP (this has similar vibe like Dior Homme Intense, but more Versatile for different occaision, grab this for below 100EUR). If you life in UAE you have much more Options. There are some really interesting brands from Dubai-Rasasi, Afnan, Armaf and many more. Lot of good oud based scents their ;)
Always thought cologne that don't last long, smells the best. So many that dont project.but smell so good.adg is nice.yet only last 30 minutes on me

@@George-je1fs I really enjoyed Haltane and I tried Carlisle and it blew me out the water ! Unfortunately my experience has been that the scents I love tend to not appeal to women's noses. Carlisle is really dark, dense and has some spice to it so could be a big hit or miss (wore spicebomb extreme for an entire season and did not receive a single compliment, but do receive them on other frags). Don't only wear scents for ladies but if I had to choose between Layton and Carlisle it's likely that Layton would serve that purpose better.

Hard to compare these two most people will usually choose a designer fragrance first sniff. My experience is that a niche fragrance for most takes time for a non fragrance buyer to appreciate. I keep various YSLin my rotation, and niche as well. Love both of these fragrances featured.

Own Both La Nuit De L'homme is awesome and great when U combine ur sprays on skin and shirt, so others will notice u a bit more. Layton is just a masterpiece I love wearing For myself. Girls love both tho, that's for sure

I layered these once to add a bit of longevity to nuit de l’homme and they both smelt very nice together when dried down, I rarely get compliments ever but I actually got a few on that day

Spray it on your hands damnit, be better and bolder than most reviewers. Can't actually judge a fragrance on paper.

La Nuit Del’homme for me is still maybe one of the greatest scents I’ve ever smelled. It is so potent and beautiful in its elegance. Maybe my favorite line is YSL Pretty ladies in Munich of course. I’m excited to get to Germany after the virus. Ich komme aus den USA. Welche Stadt in Deutschland seid ihr normalerweise übrigens?

Are you talking about the formula of a few years ago? After the reformulation the projection and duration is much less. As a smell I concur it's amazing but nowadays it doesn't last much so I don't wear it as much as I used to with previous batches.

Owned both of them, the only problem regarding pdm Layton is the opening it's kinda smell like minty but after 30mins you can really appreciate the smell. Nevertheless, love both of them.
I’ve had Ysl and It’s good but doesn’t last by any means..Had a sample of Layton from Neimans or Saks and I have to be honest I smelled it for about a day and each time I went for a whiff it got better and better and it lasted all day literally
For Layton you have to pay atleast $220 while for LNDH you pay only $40.

Great job on street review! Layton will always beat YSL in duration, complexity and performance. You will be smelling fresh literally all day with Layton versus La nuit, which you will smell nice after the morning shower but before lunch time your on your own. I have both and wear Layton way more.

In all fairness I'm sure Layton is incredible. I just got Carlisle with samples of Pegasus and sedley. All amazing scents. And of course I've had LNDL for years as a top choice for evenings. Nice guys.

Layton and the rest of PDM is almost in the realm of niche fragrance. It’s somewhat an acquired taste , I’m not surprised it didn’t win more so that Layton got blown out .

Cheezus Christ ehh no more of a high end designer in most cases , I have 4 of PDM fragrances in my collection. You can tell it was work put into it, the smell is very mainstream at the same time just like Creed . Just because they have a high price tag dose not mean it’s niche.. especially to me , to each there own

Every time I sample in store its a big no for me. Took my wife in over the weekend and she didnt like it either.
Maybe I will spray on my skin next time and see how it works with a little time on it.

Than buy a 200ml and over spray at least 30 sprays it will last you at least 8- 10 hours.

Both are comparable yet still different enough to own and love both. YSL La Nuit has been a date night go-to for years but ngl it smells a bit synthetic compared to Layton which is easily better blended, higher quality, more versatile, and longer lasting. Both are 10/10 scent but overral Layton wins

I just bought La Nuit De L'Homme and i don't like it 😩 and everyone talks good about it so it was a blind buy 😛 i think I'm gonna go back at my signature scent 1million Privé which it was love with the first sniff 😍

I’m surprise I prefer the smell of Layton, guess women prefer the more softer scents but when I sprayed la nuit de lhomme barely lasts or project to be honest.
Layton is more of a developing skin scent so this is (no offense) probably the worst way u could have done the test

Another designer fragrance getting more compliments than a niche
I own booth and love both but you let Layton settle for a bit and you would think that what hevan smelled like the intal spray smells ok but the dry down is 10 times better
D&G The One EDT or EDP 👍🏼 is my #1 favorite however La Nuit de L'Homme is my #2 😁

Jesusiscoming Soon - The EDT does, very bad performance. But the EDP performs quite well. Definitely one of the BEST scents I have ever smelled. It has been the best compliment getter of mine.

Layton opening close up not that pleasing but a minute later it’s a total beast and complement getter… La nuit has a better opening, but doesn’t perform unless you’re extremely close..

Layton smells better on skin the dry down on skin is where its seduction really lies. Most pdm are all great on skin rather than testers to be honest.

Strange cause Layton has gotten me way more compliments and strong positive reactions than La Nuit De L'Homme

It would have been better if you ask one single person, because both discuss and won’t have their own opinion. They are influenced by the other person’s opinion.
I subscribe to many fragrance reviewers and your channel is the best. Most other channels usually have one person (a man) tell you their opinion of a fragrance and why. They are very technical with their note breakdowns. This is worthless to me. Your channel is best because actual people (women) give you their opinions. "Do you like this one or that one? " That is all that matters. The reason why they like something isn't important. When I want to buy a cologne blindly, I search this channel. When I see the cologne I want wins 15 - 2, I know buying it will not be a mistake. Thank you!
This video proves that women still love La nuit de l'homme despite the reformulation. Funny how most of the women preferred the lighter smelling La nuit de l'homme compared to Layton, which is strong in smell.

What do you mean it's a huge mistake? It smells like ambroxan bomb and EDP performs like EDT. D&G has been a big fail for men since their original 90s release of Pour Homme.

A big part of that is because it’s much louder. I know Layton well and have smelled it a lot here in NYC and there’s been a few times when I’m like “they’re wearing way too much of it”. It’s a great club scent for that reason though. That’s why sometimes even though they’re not at all alike, it reminds me of One Million

La nuit is my all time fave never gets old but I will purchase some Layton as I've only hear good things about it.
Everyone who is interested - Please also have a look on PdM Layton Exclusif. Its more woody less fruity but also a bit more pricy. For me Layton and this Version going head to head. But in some ways Layton Exclusif takes it for me in the end.
I don't know why dudes always try to defend the fragrances that doesn't win. The females spoke and they said they don't care for it. I wear cologne for women not men.

The Ysl is very superior. Layton is fine but not very nice opening, nothing exiting or special about it. Im not a fan of Pegasus but today when i decided to wear a Pdm fragrance i chose Pegasus over Layton. Yesterday La Nuit de L’Homme edt all day, its awesome. Got the edp too, plus Y edp, Y Live and Ysl Lhomme L’Intense, all of them good and easy to wear, pure and comfortable. Pdm doesnt feel as good, and i prefer Date for Men over Layton, they have some similarities but Date dries down to awesomeness and Layton just continues to be meh.

Most often, I use 2 perfumes. I hardly ever use 1 any more. So, most often, I mix atleast 2 perfumes each time.
I own the following; Layton by PDM, Soleil Blanc by Tom Ford, Armani Prive Oud Royal, Armani Prive Pivoine, Armani Prive Rouge Malachi, and Midnight Oud by Ard Al Z.
I mix 2 to 4 each time I wear them. I use one for behind ears. I use one for wrist. I use one for front of my shirt. I use one for back.
I just ordered Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille and Tom Ford Lavender to add to my collection.
Of course la Nuit de l'homme beats Layton and by far !
These 2 fragrances are so different anyway.

I’ll never understand why guys that go out to get reviews of fragrances from other people don’t have a piece of paper with the fragrance having been applied there for a few minutes so people can smell the dry drydown as well....not just the opening !!

Parfums de Marly has REFORMULATED Layton. I own an older formulation which has an alcohol concentration of 78%. The new formulation I see in stores has 82% alcohol. The new formulation does not last as long and it smells different. Parfums de Marly fragrances are ALWAYS getting reformulated and become much weaker than their ORIGINAL releases. Parfums de Marly HAS NOT been transparent when it comes to the reformulation of their fragrances. Carlisle, Herod & Oajan have also been reformulated and have 3%-4% more alcohol in newer batches.
