With roughly a 10:1 US:Canada population ratio I find very alarming that Canada has 1.3M unemployed vs 6.5M in the US. To me this is a sign of how worse the Canadian economy is doing than the US one.
Fast food prices have increased substantially since the pandemic, they no longer offer good value
They've gone up a dollar in the last two months. They were up a dollar last year. They were up 6 the year before that.
Fast food was never good value meal because it is processed food with no nutritinal benefits.
They were never a good value because they contribute to poor health 😆
Its a scary world we live in right now. lets hope this all stabilizes.
Thanks for the great video Marc.
No its really not... everythings not as bad as the media makes it out to be. Relax....
if im in europe what platforme should i use to buy etfs ?
Where did the new jobs come from? In Q4 they came from SK and mostly AB. ON and QU actually lost jobs.
They were government jobs. Private sector lost 12k
Qu is always losing jobs, but keep stealing from the rest of the country to have some of the lowest living cost and housing/rent cost
Public sectors. Ordinary folks work multiple jobs to make ends meet.
It's tough days when dining out at McDonald's is a' luxury'... I remember 'back in the day' when you could get a MickyD lunch for $2.50.
True. But wow McDonald’s has increased their prices!
dining out has always been a luxury. Most in todays world think its a right
The job growth was from government jobs, and self employed (uber eats )
that's great more people ordering food means that the economy it's doing better
Unexpected? The employment rates have been continually "revised" for months. A few economists have actually been calling the unemployment rate increases for a couple months now (Danielle Martino-Booth as an example).
Yes, interesting to see Danielle's opinion. It seems the US is considerably under reporting unemployment. OR Canada is doing way worse that the headlines are reporting
Canada is easier to collect 💰handouts
Unfortunately, I believe that you are correct.@@benhaze1010
The hurt is not over....
Oh yes it is. We are CLEARLY in a bull market. Youre missing out on gains by being a pessimistic doomer 😂
I’d be very surprised if the boc reduced interest rates before fall. The government seems bent on spending more money,so don’t expect inflation to ease anytime soon when we have a government that clearly can’t see the relationship between its spending and inflation.
@@GreedRuinsEverything The government borrowing billions of dollars to pay for services instead of raising taxes to pay for those services, creating a feedback loop of printing money to service the interests on ever-growing debt, does increase inflation. There is a direct correlation between money supply and inflation. There are lots of other factors that also contributed to our current inflation crisis, like near zero interest rates for about a dozen years, a covid-caused supply chain crisis we’re still dealing with, and speculation in the housing market. So what he said might not be the complete picture, but he also isn’t wrong.
Can you please let us understand how these ETFs have high DYs if these companies (on average) do not have high DYs?
It depends on the fund, but in many cases it's because of covered calls on the portfolio. There are videos that can explain it better than I can explain what covered calls are, buy that's the main reason why.
$63 for two hamburgers and fries at a Mexican restaurant in Kingston. Inflation not beat yet!
We have cut out eating out.
Unemployment was not unexpected. It’s been in the works for a minute with the fed now.
Actually, Core YoY and MoM, and Inflation YoY all came in above consensus. Inflation MoM was at consensus.
well, my unemployment rate is steady at zero! I have a very small position in a crypto ETF but consider it gambling, not investing.. Blockchain security might be an actual thing...crypto isn't, regardless of the stock price. It is a collectible, like comic books or whatever. It doesn't actually make or do or anything.
The AI impacts on the labor market has just begun
First! 🙂
Smith is killing AB
cooking at home is always cheaper...
Historically, the rising US economy has pulled Canada along. But not anymore.
Canada is so badly managed, we are sliding into recession with inflation.
Our current government has put our country into a silent depression.
I like your videos, it saddens me that you bring up a wage gap between genders without fleshing out why the gap may exist. It’s a pretty useless metric..
Bring on ubi for all !!! 🎉🎉❤🎉
Meanwhile in canada eating out costs just about as much as cooking at home -_-
No. Yesterday I made meatballs and mashed potatoes (for 4 people), cost me around $12. Ok, you can add also $5-7 for a good green salad.
Cooking at home is WAY cheaper!!!
You lost me On that statistic about how women earning 87c per 1 dollar men earn. Sorry that is an indicator of nothing.
